I know, it sounds stupid, right? The idea is that the supergroup allocates a door on a city map to be the one that the base is inside. That's all. Now, I'm sure that people will say they're happy with the portal and that "being magicked to some Pocket 'D'imension" is all part of the game, but I like the idea that the base exists inside a building - hey.... Shining Stars got a building. Oh that's another idea entirely isn't it? To use ... an existing map ... THAT'S NOT THIS SUGGESTION! This suggestion is about a door. So, I was thinking that lots of people will want the same door, and lots of other people will want THE MOST EFFICIENT DOOR FOR FARMING or whatever they do a lot of. It's farming. My suggestion regarding this is... "let them", I mean, we've got all kinds of stuff in the game that doesn't work like it was originally intended and ends up making lives easier at the expense of immersion and roleplay. I think it's fine that a few bases exist in one building. ... and yes I know a lot of people have made outside base maps by jumping out into the skybox or whatever that is. That's cool too, they don't HAVE to pick a door. I just think it'd be neat. Will it clash with mission doors or trick-or-treat doors? Maybe. Fixing that is above my paygrade /jumps out of window.

Pff, honestly, I think that KB->KD enhancement has sacrificed fun on the altar of efficiency. Having said that, now that fun is dead, who cares if you make the enhancement or not? Enjoy!

In this new CoH, it seems that the SG is replacing the notion of the Home instance for a lot of players. I get it, and it's cool. What could be special about the Supergroup base then? WHY would you want to share it with others? Was it the expense of maintaining it? I suppose that cost is now seen as artificial and unnecessary expense, but aren't all games artificial in and of themselves? The rules exist because we all agree to them. Argh I'm going off into the realm of philosophy. What I'm trying to ask is ... do we want something to bring players closer together? I have a want to be more communicative with people, but do I have time to spent on these players? Do I even like them? It's really confusing for me.

My enduring memory is that when one person (out of 40) lagged out, the whole thing went "Boom!".
-
How interesting. I used to do 40 mans in the same manner you did, until we completed Thaddeus? (The Frankenstein's Monster thing) in Naxxramas - at the same time Blizzard said that all the gear you had accumulated thus far would be worthless in the expansion (Burning Crusade). I dropped the game right there and then and never looked back. I won't ever touch raids now, but I certainly won't rule out coop stuff. We both drew a line, but mine is far less rigid (floppier?) than yours.

Do you think this is a modern attitude in old MMOs? A lot of stuff used to get scheduled, and some guilds/supergroups did have quite enhusiastic administrators. I'm not sure that happens to the same extent these days, bearing in mind the presence of mobile games and the pick-up-and-put-down, zero attention-span, can't be bothered to read the mission text..... Ah twas ever thus, I suppose.

The reason I never really understood SuperGroups in CoH. I love the idea of THEMED SuperGroups, and doing things together whilst wearing the SuperGroup uniform. That kind of stuff always looks cool, it's like when you see 2 people doing the same dance moves - it validates the thing they're doing exponentially, regardless of how ridiculous. I can't overstate that I'm an ENORMOUS fan of this stuff, so please absorb what comes next with that in mind. The shared resource and friendship of a SuperGroup are a great idea and supported by in-game resources (bases). The SuperGroups are CHARACTER, not ACCOUNT based. This makes the above contradict one another. How much can I play my 1970s Cop character before I get bored and switch to my Arachnos Spider - and suddenly I'm talking to a completely different set of people - it's weird. I think Guild Wars 2 has handled Guilds better (it's more modern, so it should), where guilds are ACCOUNT based but you can be in FIVE (and you can communicate with ALL the guilds at the same time with /g1 /g2 etc.

RIP Zeppo, I'll remember you if nobody else will. The Zeppo Marx Fan Club starts here! ... and judging by the photo, ends here, too.

Give this man/woman (I'm guessing a man) a job in Copyright Law. This rant seems to be high-pedantry.

I think it's more like a "Pay what you want" model.
-
Very droll, I'm sure. :) I guess back in the olden days the players just got countered, with no choice in the matter. I think that for the most part this thinking is gone now, isn't it? PLayers have active counters and such .. ... actually, now I think about it... ... I can sort-of-remember ... we used to scout ahead and stuff.

How effective is Endurance Drain Resistance? I only need it to the degree that a malta sapper won't turn off my toggles. OR is it resistance % CHANCE to the whole effect? That's good but not as good as I'd like. So to clarify, I'd like it so that when a malta sapper zaps my tanker's endurance, it doesn't go to 0. I want it to go down to .. say... 5% - enough to stop me taking actions for fear of losing toggles. At the moment it's a 2 minute job to toggle everything back on and by then all my allies have run off with no tanker. Which is, admittedly, kinda fun to watch.

Request for Changes to P2W Travel PowersHerotu replied to Hunttar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback They are additive with the ninja/beast run speed and jump amount,

Oooh. I like this! Themed stuff really appeals...

That could be why I tend to abandon my characters when they hit 50.

I thought of this while writing the OP and the counter to it was, "What am I looking forward to? Acquiring the power or USING the power?" I guess I'm coming back to the old question, "What's the point in levels?"
-
Quite. It's not a serious suggestion (hence it's in general discussion), it's a thought experiment. I think it's a fun idea. This just reminds me of The SHonen Knife...

Request for Changes to P2W Travel PowersHerotu replied to Hunttar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback I would like to see a version of the Ninja/Beast that's just straight up normal running quickly (Athletic Stance?) without the crouching. I wonder how feasible that is.
-
That would be the case were it not for the P2W powers, I suppose...
-
No. Not regression. Reverse Progression. It's a bad name for what I'm suggesting but it's clickbait and I thank you for your attention. What if you got your best powers first, and then fill out with less powerful ones as you went along, instead of grinding away to get the best powers to eventually get an idea of whether or not you'll enjoy the class at higher level? PROs: You get to know if you love the character almost straight away. No grinding. Big, impactful gameplay that draws you in and then holds on to you as you fill out your arsenal with less and less impactful, but still important and varied powers. Other PROs: You won't play the character beyond the first few levels to know if you love it or not. Some will see this as a CON, I don't understand why. CONs: The devs would have work to do on this. There may be issues with the super-crap powers that you currently get at the start of the game - people would probably pick pool powers instead (which ISN'T in itself a bad thing). This may provide scope for improving those powers in some way, perhaps making them do different things.
-
In a game where an entire class is dedicated to utterly preventing enemies from doing anything harmful (we love you, controllers, but ye ... OPAF and then some), you're going to have this problem. If controllers did damage, they'd be unstoppable! Hello Dominators. I wonder what it'd be like without all the CC? I think I'd look at CC then decide whether defenses are too high. So for me the question is ... are Dominators OP or not? If not, then there's no problem.

Whatever happened to Matt Miller. I can't find him anywhere ... I'm going to presume he's lazing in the sunny tropics eating bananas and pineapples as they fall from convenient trees. Looking good, Billy Ray!

	Well, actually ...
