  1. er, no. I meant YOUR other thread: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/27097-vandal-badge-glitch/
  2. Damnit, Hyperstrike! Stole my line . . . The thing that set me off was DougGraves calling "Big Trouble in Little China" an old movie . . . and then I stopped to think about how long ago it was when I first watched it. Oh well. Silver lining: Time to watch it again!
  3. This thread might be a good one to take a gander through: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/21924-weekly-discussion-65-build-your-own-powerset/ And, of course, none of these particular conversations are complete without looking at: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/13484-eco-friendly-powerset-recycling/
  4. Ok. Not sure what's causing it, but something about this new update isn't playing nice with my browser (Opera). I still haven't found out what, exactly, is triggering this . . . but now in two more browser windows the functionality of those keys has been lost. As before, if I close the affected windows and return to the page I was last on, the keys regain their functions. I still haven't determined a cause.
  5. As stated in the other thread of this topic, I'm quite sure there wasn't ever a progress meter for this Badge due to it monitoring multiple criteria.
  6. They're ALL keepers. After all, with 1000 slots per Shard per free account, what possible reason is there not to keep 'em all?
  7. Are you launching the game from Tequila, the Homecoming Launcher, or some other launcher program? This will determine both your launch parameters and the location of the playerslot.txt file, which will be the next steps of troubleshooting here.
  8. I believe that the Vandal Badge never has a progress bar, since it's monitoring a few different criteria. Try running a few more Mayhems solo, and manually reviewing your combat log to make sure you're defeating the targets. Do a tally and see if anything pops out.
  9. If it's a bug you would be able to reproduce with step-by-step instructions and details of your rig and game configuration, absolutely post it in: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/32-bug-reports/ If it's a bug which you don't really understand and would like some help to resolve it, then give a shot in: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/12-help-amp-support/
  10. In theory, Katanas should only perform the draw animation if you have no target in range when hitting the associated Power. If a targeted enemy is in range, then pushing the Power button should immediately use the attack animation, ignoring the draw. In theory, anyway. I still see people complaining about it in General and Help Channels of Everlasting from time to time. Such as if they're holding another weapon when they use a Katana Power and then just don't perform any animation AND don't draw the Katana either. The stuff on Beta right now might have a more solid fix. There's a massive overhaul to animations and root times being tested in Page 2 right now.
  11. My biggest roleplay pet peeve would probably be the massive over-abundance of second-person use of "you" in game narrative and description text. An NPC saying "You are weak" is fine. That's the NPC's opinion. They're not defining the player-character; they're expressing a non-player character's personal view. The pop-up box when entering a mission saying "You're incapable of basic self-control and rudimentary intellect" is just gear-grinding. That's the godhand narrator robbing the player of agency.
  12. I believe the issue there would be the player defeat conditions, @Darkneblade. Normally if a player is defeated, then anyone else can pick up the escort duty. If an NPC becomes a dedicated Pet to the player who rescue them, then that may cause an issue where granting the Pet to another player post-defeat become conflicting code. I'm not an expert though. So, if your solution works and is more feasible; YAY!
  13. Ha, sorry @Number Six. Seems I edited right as you replied. Apologies for making you do needless troubleshooting tests.
  14. If this thread was already disturbing, then bringing up THAT abomination just pushes it over the edge . . . inside a flaming car . . . with a trunk full of explosives.
  15. Well, if not a Pool, then at -least- potenitally as Craftable or Day Job Temp Powers, neyh? BUT to the original topic of this thread . . . At the very least, I wouldn't mind having a "Combat Walk" Toggle. Drop my character's speed to the same value as pre-Inherent Swift days, without disabling all my Survival Toggles. I find that Swift is the -biggest- problem when it comes to escorts getting lost all the time. If I could just slow down -by JUST a little bit,- then it wouldn't be such a problem. Which is only further exasperated when I play a character with something like Quickness or Lightning Reflexes, or got hit with The Fool or Heightened Speed from the Prestige Roulette Powers.
  16. NOTE-Original post preserved for potential investigation purposes. Since the latest update to the Invision Community forum code here, my Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys are not scrolling the pages as they normally would. They still work inside text boxes (such as this one while I'm composing this message in), but aren't allowing me to jump to the top/bottom of the page while reading other posts. Any ideas if this is a localized problem for me, or is this a problem for others as well? EDIT: Ok, so . . . oddness. Seems to be a local problem. I did some experimenting. I had some browser windows open from before the forum update hit, and was still able to use those keys normally there. I closed down the window containing the new forum UI, and opened a new one. The key's functionality has been restored. I'll monitor to see if I can reproduce the issue, and whether it happens in other websites, or just here.
  17. Perhaps a non-Prestige version of Reveal? Granted, when Reveal had a cooldown of 30 minutes, that would have made more sense. In any event, maybe -that- Mission Pool idea is worth its own, dedicated thread?
  18. I was thinking about this problem, and while my idea may not be a feasible solution . . . what if we added a "middle man" to these hostages and similar escort NPCs? Since, as I understand it, the issue is one with how the hostage NPCs are coded to use the same stealth detection as enemies in the game, and changing one would change the other . . . what if an intermediary, invisible-to-players high-speed flying small-bounding box NPC was added. Think of it as the Prestige Power Pet Wisp, but the player can't see it at all, and it would be moving at max Flight speed. This new NPC would have the absolute minimum value for their Stealth AND the absolute maximum value for their Perception, and be completely immune to damage and effects from all sources. This invisible NPC then follows the player, and the existing hostage NPCs get reprogrammed to follow the invisible NPC. There could be some problems, naturally. But I'm curious as to how feasible it would be, and if it would at least be worth experimenting with for a while.
  19. Special mission: "Find out who's been stealing all the gold-colour paint from these hardware shops in Talos Island."
  20. Thank you for bringing this to the community, @Piecemeal. It's appreciated! I believe the best way to honour the wishes of most players would be to develop a divergent branch of the Warriors. Those who want the original flavour get it have it preserved, while new life and energy can be injected with the addition of things which don't remove the old. Level 5 to 15 Warriors completely unchanged (where even are these located in the game world, anyway? Only ones I think I remember were in the Hollows occasionally making deals with Outcasts). Level 20 to 24 Warriors unchanged, although with the occasional outdoor mob that has one of the Neo Warriors attempting to recruit their brethren. Level 25 to 29 Warriors are split roughly 50-50 between the classic style, and the Neo Warriors. No hostilities between the different Factions; their split is (mostly) amicable. Level 30+ Neo Warriors expanded and exploring the new Aesthetic and Power Sets, but with a few "Hardcore Old Guard" sprinkled around. The previously discussed female Warriors could also make their full début here. Lean hard in to the splinter group being dissatisfied with Ulysses' reliance on Magic and determined to demonstrate their unblemished Natural strength and prowess. Leadership (Pseudo-)Toggles and an emphasis on Tactics, with Lieutenants and Bosses bringing the rank-and-file Minions in to intimidating forces. Rallying Cries and other AoE Buffs to bring fallen comrades back with a second wind, or inspired to strike with furious and righteous anger. Similarly; Warcries to strike Fear in to their enemies or issue challenges to opponents to direct their attention to the strongest of the Warriors (Taunt). No need for anything unique in terms of aesthetic. These are Natural NPCs, after all. Being flashy and gaudy isn't as important as demonstrating one's might in combat. Sure, some wearable trophies for the Lts. and Bosses to denote their past victories, but anything of that nature should also be the same sort of stuff that Players could choose to access. Aesthetics for any new textures, particularly facial textures: Remember they're hardened warriors. Grizzled, scarred, and determined flesh and expressions would be most suitable. In a world where your enemies are wielding magical spells, extradimensional technology, and superhuman mutant powers . . . you're going to wind up coming out the other side with more than a few permanent battle wounds. Wounds that would be celebrated in such a culture. Having some Cimeroran inspiration could be cool. Javelins are seriously underused. Maybe a plot resolution that some of the female Warriors get invited to the Knives of Artemis. Possibly the schism within the Warriors was even orchestrated in part as a means to develop an increased recruitment bed after the turmoil in Dark Astoria seriously harmed the Knives' numbers. Finally, the Neo Warriors should probably lean a little (to a lot) more heroic than the existing Warriors. If the general population is willing to look up to the frickin' -SKULLS- as potential saviours, then the Neo Warriors should stand as exemplars to all the citizens who fear or revile "super" heroes and villains. The Neo Warriors should never be intimidating civilians with petty larceny and extortion. They should be stepping in to the line of fire between a Tsoo Ink Man or Crey Tank and the poor Natural civies who are being oppressed by Magical and Technological threats. Of course, the Neo Warriors should be just as willing to step in to the line of fire of any "so-called hero" and that same civilian, just to prove their point, even if the hero was just asking the civie if they were having a nice day.
  21. PHP Boards this ain't, it seems. I'm not sure how much freedom and control the Homecoming Team have over the Invision Community forum package deal. The developers of the forum software may have bundled important security or efficiency upgrades with this new UI/UX, leaving the Homecoming Team to decide between the two. Of course, if there's no significant improvement in the back-end of this version, then I'd recommend an immediate rollback to the previous version. Otherwise it's just pointlessly infuriating users.
  22. More of a city slicker. Likes to spend time outside hunting for sport, but boy-howdy does he expect his factory-prepared meals on time and presented in the nice crystal bowls.
  23. Alt+0160 No-Break Space It still takes up more of the limited text space than a normal single space, but when doing indents or double-spaces, you save by alternating between the regular space and this.
  24. I multibox. I often play two or three characters in a scene, so there could be something related to it there. At least two of the garbled-text bugs I've experienced have happened while multiboxing, and pretty much every hard-crash I've suffered while roleplaying was while multiboxing. Although, I've noticed that it's usually not my most prolific character in a scene which ends up suffering the crash or bug, but the midling one. That always struck me as odd. On at least one occasion I had the same account crash twice on two separate instances of the client during a single roleplay scene as well. Most of these crashes happen on extensively dense Base maps, such as Karma-508 on Everlasting (which I recommend that you check out, @Number Six, if only to see the stellar work which has gone in to that base!). When sending messages which exceed the character limit, I denote the trailing with ... and the resumption with either: /l ""... or ;--- ... depending on if its dialogue or emote. But I do that frequently and don't have many issues. I double-space after periods and colons usually (occasionally triple-space because of habit or mistype). This happens very frequently. And I make use of the no-break space (Alt+0160) in my character Descriptions since it take up fewer characters than hitting the space bar twice. Although I rarely use it in chat, if ever. I'm unsure if any of these may be contributing to the crashes/bugs.
