Some folks have reported that they enjoy the farming and find it relaxing to stay in semi-continuous combat rather running mission to mission.
Me? The game is so easy and leveling is so fast at this point, I'll do it to power level someone on request.
Rewards drops from farming fall too much with others in the mission to make it worth it just my opinion.
The game was played before invention origin enhancements existed and was awesome. Any of the sets that worked then, will work now. Endurance is likely one thing to be mindful of.
General Slotting
Attacks: 2 Accuracy, 3 Damage with an optional End Reduction or Recharge
Defense / Resistance Toggles: 3 Defense or Resistance with 2 End Reduction
Defense / Resistance Autos: 3 Defense or Resistance
Stamina: 2 Endurance
Health: 3 Heal
These may be over slotting in some cases which are easy enough to figure out.
Accuracy and Endurance end up being often overlooked and under slotted.
Having a single origin or standard invention origin build and sprinkling in some unique IOs is also a fun way to play.
It is not possible to afk for more that 120 seconds using Hasten and Burn.
Whirlwind is interesting as a toggle to boost recharge. Though when Ageless runs it's 120s there may be endurance issues. The OP did say a "few minutes"..
Wouldn't it be better to add Tactics instead of Hasten for the stated purpose?
@Hardboiled Hero remember, forum advice is worth what you pay for it.
Oversimplification of Tanking in CoX: "Take the alpha and be quick about it"
My advice would be try a couple out and see what works for you.
Generally, there are synergies that exist which can make life easier. Dark Melee has some heal and/or endurance recovery that could help an armor that is lacking in those areas. Some like Broad Sword and Katana have a +def that might help a resistance leaning armor.
While leveling I would totally prioritize slotting up anything that helps me simply survive. An Invulnerability example might look like:
Good luck and happy tanking.

I'll concede hide is a big part of it..
This is the trouble I get in for not just saying 'No'.
Actually, attacking from ambush is the stalker ability. Stealth and invisibility are available to many.
This is also arguably incorrect. Giving and extra power to one AT would likely have some effect. Definitely some power creep in there.
I did like the laser bullets idea for alternate animations so keep the ideas coming.
A real quick look at a hover build for a less expensive option with combat jumping/hover/weave plus the globals to get 17-18 across the board. Add some decent slotting and 30-35% to one positional and the associated types should be possible, with about 600 regen and 150 hp. Linked minds can add another 5 def or so.
Note: @oldskool's high recharge build above is better and will likely mitigate more damage while doing lots of damage. Getting the heals back up in my experience a key to Regen.
@Jono265 we play different it's cool.
The original post asked for sets that could run 6 or 7 powers, Regen is one. Ive seen some folks running just 6. Experiences obviously vary.
It would be great to get some content that allows combat when phased.
Maybe some lower level missions that provide a temp power to phase and attack phased targets like Illusionists. Can we (players) provide temp powers in AE?
JUST FIVE!?

We thought we'd take on the Master of Evil, the Count of Cruel, the Archvillain of Anarchy, a top NPC archvillain and it didn't go well.
