event Slot Machine's Random Challenge (2025 Edition)
Troo replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
@Rasset that's a nice twist. May have to do a One-Roll event. My favorite part of this event is seeing what folks get and if they are excited or begrudgingly trying something that they would not have picked! -

What would you do if you were a DEV?! (Fun Ideas Talks)
Troo replied to SSR's topic in General Discussion
Son of a %=@#! I do like the idea of player created content: Missions, arcs, and even enemy groups.. It seems like a great way to leverage the efforts of many. A force multiplier for content creation. Given the little glimpse into the efforts to pull together newer additional Homecoming content.. it might not be a small or even medium effort. Though chipping away at improvements could pay dividends. ______ _ _______ New power sets: I would likely campaign to prioritize two separate paths of new power set creation. One would be more economical repackaging of existing power animations and established set makeup & capabilities. (make a toxic set with essentially the same stats, range, aoe, immobs, etc that say fire has with a twist like an initial burst and damage over time) The other would be new sets that are essentially revamped old sets. (you want a new version of Regeneration or Dark Armour, DO IT as another new power set. What is the fear of having two similar power sets? Folks can try em both) This would in no way preclude new creations with unique functions or new mechanics. ______ _ _______ Power Set Respecification: Work on allowing folks to repec a primary or secondary power set of a character. Cost and level of effort could scale with character level. Cost could include dropping a number of levels. Availability could be limited to one per character or other responsible limitation. -
Forum Moderation - give me suggestions and feedback
Troo replied to GM_GooglyMoogly's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
definitely. Also, "feedback" has been a terrible term to use regarding those efforts. "testing" or "bugs" might better serve the purpose. Titling something as requesting "feedback", receiving feedback, and then allowing other players to badger and berate folks providing feedback.. what could go wrong? I like @PeregrineFalcon and they have thick enough skin to take a light ribbing for example sake. -
Forum Moderation - give me suggestions and feedback
Troo replied to GM_GooglyMoogly's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Moderation I imagine is tricky stuff. There is plenty of irony in my reply above. It is in response to another reply and potentially heading off the original topic while offering no real substance to the topic.. these might be grounds for moderation. tricky stuff In general, I am often taken aback when we see folks demand posters participate in a certain way while often being the same person who won't hesitate to drop a "don't tell me how to play!". Would a friendly suggestion on how to participate be better? tricky stuff -
Forum Moderation - give me suggestions and feedback
Troo replied to GM_GooglyMoogly's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I've already suggested, multiple times, that the way to deal with this in the feedback threads is to allow each person one post in that thread. ONE. Any post past the first one gets deleted. Even the first one will get deleted if there isn't something that says they did some actual testing. If people want to address other issues that get brought up then they can edit their post. "Forum Moderation - give me suggestions and feedback" <-- π Feels like @PeregrineFalcon is 9 or 10 replies into this thread... I am vacillating between the following cheeky comments "you first!", "practice what you preach brah", "be the change you wish to see" and this gif: β€οΈπ§‘πππππ€¨ -
Thanks for the update. I spoke to em on the phone a while back when he asked for help, so this is appreciated. @Hyperstrike send a private message anytime.

Gotta lean into power sets rather than fight against them.

Regeneration for Tanks & Super Strength for Scrappers and Stalkers
Troo replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, it's the larger HP pool that makes the regen potentially stronger on a Tanker. The resistance numbers would naturally better as well (guessing +30% for powers compared to a Brute. ~20-25% overall). Plus the better ATOs (+18.7% S/L, +12.7% everything else). That could mean the potential for at least capped S/L with F/C close enough for Scaling Resist to the cap them. So here is an existing EM/Regen Brute at baseline operation before any big buffs like Rune of Protection, Moment of Glory, Instant Healing, Demonic Aura, Incarnates, etc. I'm guessing @Spaghetti Betty may have even better numbers on theirs. -
Nah, this Spring was the plan and likely still the plan. I posted just one day into Spring pretending to be super impatient.

So you're okay with that getting ported just to Tanks as is? -
Folks get to have an opinion. Thank you for voicing your concern.

absolutely, though one doesn't have to be a duck about it. The term above is used for emphasis and is in no way labeling anyone or their behavior. edited to correct obvious misspelling . . . -

Accepting responsibility for what one writes or how they address another in civil discourse is a pretty low bar (just my opinion). We agreed to adhere to several agreements when we signed up. "Do not abuse or harass others" -Code of Conduct "Enforcement of these rules is based on intent." -Code of Conduct "Anything an Administrator or Game Master says overrides anything else in this document" -Code of Conduct When using tongue-n-cheek, sarcasm, or 'banter' a poster risks moderation. -
old versions of this topic for any that wish to see older comments: I would provide a link to "How to join closed beta testing" but I can't seem to find it. (maybe it was removed) Here is the overall 2024 recap and 2025 roadmap as shared January 8th "We hope to release Page 2 of Issue 28, continuing on the exciting building blocks of Page 1, in Early Spring 2025!" "We look forward to sharing more with you all Soonβ’" As things start to slip out from posters some more 'official' hints or highlights might be appropriate rather than scuttlebutt.

Folks check in here from time to time to see if there is anything new or in the works. We know teams are doing things behind the scenes.. it could be nice if we had some general notice of what is being considered, debated, or retooled. With many thanks, congratulations, and acknowledgement of the epic path of successes, we sheepishly ask 'what-cha-doin?'. I for one enjoy even a cryptic peak behind the curtain. For those not on discord discussions, an occasional summary could be nice... appreciated!

Add some bad or just-for-fun sets to the game
Troo replied to Troo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yes Maybe we don't need to have cookie cutter sets. We don't need sets that are simply the exact same power stats repackaged. A whips power set does not have to purposely be the worst. It also doesn't need to be the best. This can alleviate a bit of the worry about balance. Does every new set have to adhere to this suggestion? Of course not. "But Troo, I want clown pets AND have it be the best set!" - said some one who is never getting clown pets.
