Yeah, I'm not sure you read the topic you linked to. The Homecoming team has and does spend time on player issues. Players assuming they don't.. I guess they'll learn a lesson the hard way. The team already helped with the lag that the event can result in by lowering the zone limit. The GM who replied in the topic you linked is pretty clear. If you see something, say something. "we would definitely appreciate a ticket detailing the names and globals of all involved so that we can double check, and take action if needed." They will take a look. This applies to all bad actors not just griefers or exploiters or multi-boxers or AFKers.

Have you tried changing zones? Or costumes?
-
well.. Code of Conduct: 9. Be considerate of others and mindful of zone capacity Raid zones (The Hive, The Abyss, The Labyrinth of Fog, etc.) have a limited capacity per instance, and AFKing in these zones can lock players out from participating in these raids. In these zones, you are expected to participate or move to another zone to free space for other players. Players who are found AFKing for long periods of time in these zones may be removed from the zone by a Game Master, and repeated offences of this behavior may result in further action being taken against your account. You may be disconnected by a GM if you use Task Forces and Architect Entertainment to bypass the AFK logout timer. In most cases a GM will only intervene if you are using this functionality in a disruptive way. Further action may be taken if you repeatedly ignore warnings from a GM.

Just report them and move on. If they are repeatedly reported. The Homecoming team will take care of them. (sometimes it takes a bit) It's up to the player to behave on a shared resource. If they are reported enough a 'timeout' may be in order. Again, that doesn't mean players need to harass or police the zones. The mods do what they can.

@Snarky welcome back to PUGs. I did an ITF last night to try and soak up some of that sweet sweet 2xp. I thought a-change-of-pace after dealing with multiboxing afk MMs in one league, 3 fold spaces in another league, and group fly in the last to close out my murder moteling. The KM +4/8 ITF was a bit of a hot mess. The team, not Ideal, as I'm the only meat shield, a taunt-less <50 SS/SR broot. Regardless, it looked like maybe it was gonna work out. One player is healing and laying down tar patches, another is putting patches on top of the patches. Heals and buffs are being handed out like candy at Halloween. Here too no one is targeting the Surgeons.. but still, it looks like we might be rolling. Then.. THEN, the better we do, the more targets start get blown out of the patches. Death begins to visit our merry band. Through a couple missions I'm thinking "don't these guys see what they are doing? That second patch is bright F-'in green". I don't wanna make a stink and continue on. Once out of the caves I start to notice someone is using Fold Space to pull targets off the patches.. huh? That can't be right. Finally last mission I have to ask.. "Hey, just curious, why is someone teleporting mobs out of the patches?" Which gets an immediate "NOW YOU ASK?!!" The teleport-er responds "Oh oops I haven't been paying attention".. scrapperlock. ITF time 1 hour 28 minutes Goal: 1:30 (so success!.. I guess. @Bill Z Bubba could solo faster?) People don't pay attention - Confirmed. People don't often know what they are doing - Confirmed. Without communication things don't improve - Confirmed. Actually teaming is harder than it sounds apparently. Thank you for reading this far.

Is it time to address divergent PvP rules/settings?
Troo replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
Well, I do know. It is crickets in any zone other than in RV occasionally. It has been this way for years. (I see that with my own eyes on Indom and Excel) The arena scene was already small but engaged and has gone down. (Arena players and current PvP in-the-loopers have said so) Have some folks chime in if it's different. Maybe there is a private group that meets daily.. it is possible. I'm not saying it's dead dead. I'm saying it is diminished, and the stuff they don't use could be available to more people. They did. Though at that time the PvP group was fairly engaged and they had the ear of someone who could do something. What we don't know is what kind of time investment was it? I can play the guessing game and say I would guess it wasn't that much time relatively. (It was barely Q/A'd and tested) How do PvP folks feel? It's a bit all over the place. To you and others: I don't want to take away what players use. I say continue to support efforts to build a PvP community. Continue to refine the settings. Give them what they want WHERE THEY USE IT. I am asking should we maybe stop gating content, assets and zones behind a divergent set of PvP rules? Yes / No There are actually different versions of PvP rules.. currently. There are options when setting up matches. Maybe we should have 'zone PvP' match closer to PvE and lower the barrier to entry. If that's not an option maybe the zones shouldn't be PvP if the zones aren't getting used for PvP. It's just a discussion. -
Is it time to address divergent PvP rules/settings?
Troo replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
Yeah. These are all niches where the niche player isn't imposing their niche on others though. I play in the PvP zones, always have. I would do more PvP if the rule set was less divergent. Rules catering to a niche of a niche can be fine as one of the options inside an instanced map or arena. We don't have to have them in open zones. Taking it a step further. Three of the four zones just don't get used to PvP. I'm in there doing the mini games, have been for years. Folks have asked: Maybe these zones don't need to be PvP zones. Maybe some story lines could be built on those zones. Your statement would hold water if there were even just dozens of players even casually participating in PvP. Folks aren't interested. -
Here's an example of not okay behavior: 3 MMs not doing anything. Anyone who opens a door losses targets to them.

Corruptor secondaries + Dominator secondaries (a humble request)

yeah... but that's okay.

@Gaymer X when short team members or league mates an AFK or two doesn't hurt and can sometimes help. A full zone, or even near full, AFKers are not helpful. A solo AFK MM can definitely steal exp from a league and I get reporting them.

So would you care if the PvP zones had the same rules as PvE? -
Its definitely the ToT EBs with the double exp bonus until Tuesday. Yep, there's gonna be some AFK farming that. On a lvl 42 sidekicked up to 49 vs lvl 52 Halloween EB (5 person team) [10:57] You gain 83,720 experience and 54,417 influence. [10:58] You gain 83,720 experience and 54,417 influence. [10:59] You gain 83,720 experience and 54,417 influence. [11:00] You gain 83,720 experience and 54,417 influence. turn on 2xp [11:42] You gain 140,801 experience. when level 45 on a full team [11:46] You gain 165,585 experience. Is it time to address divergent PvP rules/settings?
Troo replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
yep. I think it's also a (I am 100% putting words in their mouth) "we should have just left it and let people have fun with maybe some more minor tweaks overtime". well, to pvp of course. I didn't like the idea, I saw flaws, I did not think it would fall so flat though. -
Is it time to address divergent PvP rules/settings?
Troo replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
Part of me wonders if the zones should have been flipped to PvE after the introduction of Instant Level 50s with all the Accolades ( Temporal Warriors ). I mean keep Recluse's Victory for zone PvP and maybe another alternate map set to level 50. If anyone is unaware of the Instant Level 50s for PvP: Divergent rule sets (a sampling): "Dueling, team Arena, solo zone play, and team zone play all differ in what is most advantageous." "Power effects can vary based on the character using it, or what it's used on, or what kind of zone it's used in." "Almost any effect of any power may be different between PvP and PvE" "Some powers operate in "PvP mode" any time they are used in a PvP zone." "Others produce PvP effects only when used on players." "Aim + Build Up might provide only +49% ToHit" "Most temporary powers are disabled in PvP environments." "Players receive bonus Damage Resistance simply for being in a PvP zone." "Elusivity's effects stack with Defense to make a character even harder to hit." Former CoH Dev: "PvP didn’t belong in CoH and regrets putting effort into the i13 PvP revamp." -

Troo replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
That's not necessarily what's being asked, you could define what would work for you, and it's just a discussion. All PvP zones are accessible to any character starting at level 1. (credit: text from Temporal Warriors introduction {which isn't as easy to find as I'd expect})
