Raising PvP Zone -level enforcement- NON RV
Troo replied to Kataklysm's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Ah, okay. So there is no 'official' policy to point to. But there are clear warnings that pvp may happen in pvp zones.. I think this is understood. What I had said was "in my opinion, these are Hazard Zones were PvP activities can take place. I don't glibly dismiss 90% of the game for 10%". A) That's my opinion. B) Below is an example he provided which, if we read the white text, mostly refers to activities in the zone where we (now red text) may also face an opposing player. Note: Activities are guaranteed where as PvP might happen. It was also this way at the height of PvP and as such the basis of my opinion. Please feel free to data mine how many Arachnos vs Longbow battles have happened versus how many PvP defeats have happened in Siren's Call. That data might change my opinion.- 110 replies

Raising PvP Zone -level enforcement- NON RV

They want to be able to play the insta-50s with free accolades max incarnates in all the zones they can. Basically, we don't want to level, we don't want to earn accolades, we don't want to grind incarnates, we've done it enough and are tired of it. now that we're given everything, where can we go? we should 'fix' that too.- 110 replies

This is about raising the level of all zones to 50. Don't try and change the subject by quibbling over a key detail related to the need to raise the zones to level 50. If PvP gets insta-level 50s it just makes sense it will proliferate. Where? Was it prior to insta-50s for PvP being on the table? Is it possible there has been a shift?

I get it. But it is not really that easy when doing a good job. The quickest and dirtiest leaves a wake of loose ends and mess. "And because Zone PvP is so awful right now," Why not just do one zone then? Work out bugs and show a case why it should be expanded.- 110 replies

Good point, made an edit. If PvP gets them the likelihood of proliferation is much higher. (some would say a certainty) Let's face it the answer is 'sometimes'. Like that one time I simply ran up and slapped Statesman in front of his gang..

Then why not add some PvP zones for specialized high level PvP? I'd support that. We have some zones and/or maps that would work great for this. Leave the zones and existing activities (which get used) alone. It is the sense of entitlement to simply take and impact other players while associated issues created are ignored or dismissed to facilitate the wishes of a few.- 110 replies

With the advent of instant level 50s with full Accolades and Incarnates, should we just bump all the zones, missions, and task forces to level 50+ so that players who choose instant 50s can have access to all the content they don't currently play? This just makes sense from one point of view. It looks like it would be super easy to implement per one dev and since everyone is going to be a 50 any issues with lower level mobs, activities, or characters really won't matter. Besides this is how all modern gaming, that some have seen, is done. Any concerns? What's the best way to implement? this is a thought exercise not a suggestion

So you think if someone doesn't do the 100 points of damage to kill a 100 hp opponent they should not get any reward? I'm glad the game is a bit more nuanced. 😉

For an initial run through something around: 1.5 units to level 50. 2.0 units to T3 and level shifts/incarnate shifts. 2.5 units to T4 1 unit being equal to the level 1-40 window. more exact numbers could be could be derived from https://archive.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Experience Ooof Flea. Ideally zero. Do something, get something. Given how hard this is to enforce with all the mechanics in the game that enable grouping, pairing, encouraging returning, etc.. It is accepted that zero is not the answer. Okay, playing along. Ideally equal. Given the difference between AE and non-AE content is mainly travel, spawn spacing and variety of mission types. AE rewards operate at a reduced amount. With the removal of the custom critter 'bug' and the aggro cap changes, hopefully AE and non-AE rewards can get closer to the same per mob. It might take another revision but that should be the goal. Let play play how they want. More appropriately it would be great to get an official stance/answer from Homecoming to set expectations. I am only one voice. Homecoming might not be for everyone and that's okay. I want everyone here, but I get it. Choices & consequences.

Thanks for the reply. I touched on some pitfalls of up leveling existing zones. There are likely more. Have you talked to the HC team about this or just running with it?- 110 replies

Just something to be mindful of. I obviously don't prefer some of what they are doing as I've posted views that aren't against PLing, proposed a level up token, a respec for a primary or secondary and a never ending mission with wave of different enemy groups. What was the UO number?

Ultima Online (UO) released 1997 https://uo.com/ Time designated it as one of the 100 greatest video games of all time in November 2012 25 years non-stop. "The following are actions taken on accounts that were either banned or suspended during the month of June: (6/20) 59 - Macroing 3 - Solicitation 29 - Multiboxing 7 - Naming Violation 5 - Disruptive Behavior 2 - Third party program use 6 - Game Anomaly Exploit 1 - Abuse of Game Mechanics 2 - Solicitation" Maybe, just maybe one reason it is still around is that players have to play the game to advance in it. I'm not saying we need to be them. I have no problem with folks casually PLing a character from time to time. I do have a problem with exploits. Sometimes we do something not thinking it is exploitative, those cases should be easily addressed and have the exploit fixed. AE is potentially the greatest asset CoX has. Want to play a Dynasty Warrior style AE mission? I think that's a good thing. Just don't expect 10x rewards & exp for a fraction of effort. Being efficient and effective are different than simply taking advantage.

IF moving all the temps and badges elsewhere could be done, the proposal would still be taking activities from those level ranges. As to "the zones are FOR PvP", I'm sure someone has made a more eloquent argument than I could which is close to irrefutable. So, I'm not gonna try other than to say, in my opinion, these are Hazard Zones were PvP activities can take place. I don't glibly dismiss 90% of the game for 10%.- 110 replies

Ah, I see. Yes, at first that might seem the case. You solved making the mobs level 50 for your preference but have introduced another issue. Think to when you level up a character; power, 2 slots, power, 2 slots.. and it goes on until level 31 where characters begin getting 3 slots. And then is switches to power, 3 slots, 3 slots, power. If you are not following what I am saying: Putting a 20, 30, or 40 in a zone with a 50 that is fully slotted is never going to be fair do to added powers, slots, set bonuses.. unless gimping the 50. Much less a fully slotted 50 with an Alpha slot or worse yet full max Incarnates. Putting a 20, 30, or 40 in a zone with mobs that are designed for 50s is equally problematic. Even if the player is technically a 50, they aren't.- 110 replies

groan.. I agree, -ToHit is my defense on many characters. -
@SwitchFade Can you explain why in your mind this change is better than the AE Vet Level change?

Troo replied to Kataklysm's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
They are ghost towns for PvP. For the badges and temps, they do get used. Data mining from the HC team would provide more accurate information. I have a character that pretty much stays in Siren's and I play them maybe 20% of the time. [edit] There are other non-pvp zones which get under used. It was proposed a couple pages ago by a poster to use one of them as a special PvP zone where rules could be changed rather than changing all PvP zones.- 110 replies
