Brain storms drop from a day job as well. I don't even know which day job it is (and don't really care) but they pile up. These are an asset I just drop off in my "misc" salvage storage for my banker to swoop up periodically. As said in OP they rain in from packs as well. So actually just a couple of hours ago I noticed that my normal bid for rares had gone unfilled for a few days now. I don't monitor the market but seeing that there's a clear trend up made me think of my brain storm stash so I just plowed through a few thousand to up the supply (at a fair, but not a bargain price for current conditions). If the trend is continuing tomorrow I'll repeat. As for the unfilled bids, whatevah. They'll eventually get filled and I'm very, very patient. I purchase my purple recipes at level 1 and don't PL so I've got weeks before I'll need them crafted.

What's the point of this SG base computer?
Hedgefund replied to Jawbreaker's topic in General Discussion
I don't know the full scope of its usage but once upon a time the Silver Mantis SF could only be started from this, may have been Renault. -
The power's radius means everyone within 30 feet will be teleported. I happen to have a character with TTP (long retired) and seeing 25 foot range made me go "hmmm". It was one of those things. I logged on my TTPer, who has a 50+5 Jaunt end/range slotted, the power description says it now has 35 foot range. I have 15% range bonuses so that should add, let's just say 5 feet because I don't care to be precise, it doesn't matter to the greater point. I find someone about 100 feet away, ttp right to it. I then start trying for max distance for it to work and it was around 340 feet. So I have no idea what "25 feet" is supposed to represent. It's in the in-game description, Mids, CoD, every reference says 25 feet but it ain't 25 feet, not even close. Preemptive responses to "but whut about..." No, I'm not using range boost, no I'm not under the effect of a Marine Affinity's range buff or any type of +strength boost at all. This is just me in Port Oakes on a Poison/Water def.

Here is the CoD page for the regular version https://cod.uberguy.net./html/power.html?power=boosts.attuned_winters_bite_f.attuned_winters_bite_f&at=arachnos_soldier Both debuffs have a 4PPM parameter to apply a -20 recharge and -20 run/fly/jump debuff. Those are listed on the first line. The superior version is 5PPM and applies the same debuffs. I have independently verified the OP's findings.

Map Server - It's Over. Whatdidchalikebestest?
Hedgefund replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
I did the math in this post, I'll link instead of copy. Having the 2xp booster gives you twice the xp than if you do not have the 2xp booster running. You get twice as much, full stop. Not 1.1 times (which is what 11 xp vs 10xp would give. No appeal to authority is going to change empirical data. I edited to change the post linked to. I copied the wrong one initially.. -
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Hedgefund replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
My expectation is Doom is in post-credits and not a minute before. -
Used 100%: Shield Wall +res Glad Armor +def Steadfast Def/res Panacea +hp/end Perf Shifter +end Used 90% Reactive Armor 3% + scaling res Used 75% Unbreakable Guard +HP Used 50% Preventative Medicine absorb Used 15% Power Transfer +Heal (I like this more than my usage indicates) Numina +regen/recovery <1% Miracle +rec (a character would have to be an endurance disaster for me to slot this [which has happened]) Kismit +tohit (Final builds tend to not have a problem hitting 95% against +3s and good enough is good enough). Almost everything else is "season to taste" and based on what's needed what could be utilized well. I have a Merc/Storm that has the FF proc active about 50% of the time so it's a no brainer for that character to use that. Addition: 100% of anyone without native full invis gets a stealth IO.

My Silver Surfer homage back in the day was a PB. Having said that nothing in this game remotely comes close to emulating the Power Cosmic.

Map Server - It's Over. Whatdidchalikebestest?
Hedgefund replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
What is the question about double xp? If you're sub level 50 and you have a 2xp booster, you'll get twice as much xp as if you did not have the booster at all. This was easily testable and those were the results. As for what I thought about it, put me in the "one week is enough" camp. I spent probably an hour with it. And maybe do something about the GM to either make it worth fighting (rewards) or tone down its difficulty. As is, I mostly saw tanks simply drag it to drones -
I look forward to checking this out but I wanted to let you know the Discord link is to this page, not to Discord. I was able to join the Discord by copy/pasting the text containing the link, but the link itself doesn't work. I tried on my phone and my PC.

This merits some clarity. The mob xp is "scale 10". Whether that's 10x or not (look at my first post in thread to see data indicating it's not) I'm going to refer to it as 10x xp just for easy math. The START vendor offers a 100% bonus, so, for normal mobs, whose XP amount I'll refer to as X, that means X (base) + X (bonus) for 2X xp. Let's call the mapserver xp Y = 10X. It's still Y (base) + Y (bonus) for 2Y or 20X. So it's 20x, not 11. Why be theoretical though and use Xs and Ys when you can, RIGHT NOW, go into a zone and see the results. Just to set the scenario Level 44 solo no patrol xp no debt FAR from any league With the bonus START xp enabled, I got the following result: An Unstable Script (minion) awarded 8870 XP, 0 inf I deleted the START xp and got the following results An Unstable Script (minion) awarded 4435 XP, 3103 inf Your homework is to determine the ratio of 8870 to 4435. I did this last year when Indom had extra bonus xp and, just for yucks here are those same results for the same character (same level, 44) and same mob, Unstable Script: With START bonus: 13,305 xp, 0 inf WihtOUT START bonus: 8,870 xp, 3103 inf

Using "say" will put the message in whatever channel you have selected, which could lead to unintended results . If you want to insure it goes to team use "team" instead of "say" or perhaps even "local" which will just broadcast to players nearby and won't create any audio notification.

Most commonly used salvage for crafting? Help a hoarder out!
Hedgefund replied to BassAckwards's topic in General Discussion
Fort Trident and The Crucible are the one stop shopping destinations for crafting. You can access AH, craft recipes AND there's an empowerment station. Facemakers, everything, it's like a Buc-ees found its way to Rhode Island. -
I was solo, I made all efforts to eliminate anything that could affect xp earned. It's not leagues that affect rewards, rather it's teams. Team 1 and team 2 from the same league are competing for rewards just as if they were in different leagues. For simplicity let's just say there are 2 teams in a league and team 1 does 80% of the damage and team 2 does 20%, then team 1 will get 80% of the xp, which will then be doled out to team members the usual way, team 2 will get 20%. I've seen people complain about poor rewards and no doubt that's a consequence of being on a low damage team, especially as we get further into the event and people start leeching and using low level characters and multi-boxing.

I'm going to copy/paste a Discord post I made to show Mapserver XP vs regular: I replicated this several times and got exactly the same results. Here are some expected questions: Did I have debt? No. Did I have rested xp? As stated above, no. Did I fight an enemy with a higher level? As stated above, no. Did I have an xp boost from Seed of Hamidon? No.

Most commonly used salvage for crafting? Help a hoarder out!
Hedgefund replied to BassAckwards's topic in General Discussion
Several posts above it was stated that rares are not seeded and that is incorrect. The seeded price is 1M inf. I actually go in the opposite direction for what I store, I keep the white and yellow salvage needed to craft my 4 favorite base empowerment buffs, just so I can acquire those buffs quickly if I join something and don't have time to hit the AH. -
Scaling Resist Damage; how does it actually work?
Hedgefund replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
The wording is weird, deceptively so, for this piece. Looking at it now it says "This bonus starts off at +0% at full health and slowly increases to around 10% at very low health". What's not mentioned is the flat 3%. What they should be conveying is 3% + scaling bonus resists. -
Scaling Resist Damage; how does it actually work?
Hedgefund replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
I just want to emphasize that it's 3%, not 0, at full health. Here I am standing around Atlas on a 50 (so definitely at full health) with 3% from Reactive: To the "is it worth it?" question, among the mitigation uniques (2 for 3% def, 1 for 5% res) this ranks at the bottom of that list and I do have some characters that don't use it but that's on the rare side. I wish I had an easy way to query my builds but I'm going to guess I use it about 80% of the time. Certainly closer to 100% for melee types. -
What would you do if you were a DEV?! (Fun Ideas Talks)
Hedgefund replied to SSR's topic in General Discussion
Make all follower pathing "good". I'd probably just say propagate Mr. Yin's follow AI to all others but I haven't seen him on a stairwell. Praetorians on a stairwell make me want to get some hair implants just so I can yank them out in frustration when trying to coax some of them up ramps or stairs. I could write a lengthier post about a lot of other things on my wish list but this is just #1 for me. -
I don't like them. You can't combine them. If I could only get def/res to drop and none of the others I might turn on that specifically, but heal/endurance? Yuck.

HO: Microfilament Exposure (End/Fly/Jump/Run)
Hedgefund replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
This is the one HO I don't even bother evaluating if I should squirrel it away or not, straight to the /AH these go. I have no use for this whatsoever. I recall them being significantly more expensive a few years ago. PVPers do like this piece because they tend to fight with SS on. Note - I'm not a PVPer so I have no firsthand knowledge whatsoever, I just remember PVPers wanting to buy mine whenever I showed my prize after an LR/ML. Even today it can go into swift to boost both fly and run speed. I've seen people use this as justification for using them. This is the only means of boosting both since Universal travel sets aren't allowed in Swift.
