Beasts from the north! Making the best of Beast/ with /Cold
Hedgefund replied to Onlyasandwich's topic in Mastermind
I played a Beast/Cold about a year or so ago. I was quite pleased with the results. If they are "bottom of the barrel" the barrel isn't very deep, this did everything I want from a MM. We have a lot of similarities outside of pools. I went for Fighting and light on my epic (just Charged Armor) but if I were to readdress my guy it would be more in tune with yours, but not sure what epic/patron I'd go for. Anyway, straight to your questions: Pet slotting: I personally would go with 4 Superior Command + the 2 Superior Mark pieces in Summon Wolves. That's to eek out 10% more recharge understanding that you give up some mitigation and some damage (the Lady Grey proc begins with a -2 purple patch adjustment and will go down further based on your added difficulty). For other pets, we're identical for Dire Wolf, minor differences for Lions. End Consumption It's good. Good enough that I personally would take away a slot from Stamina for whatever. More about Heat Loss later... Benumb - instead of 2 Provos, how about 1? Using a level 50 keeps your acc against +3s > .95 and shaves 3.5 seconds off recharge. Hoarfrost - is fine. I tend to take it if I'm in a pool that offers it. MMs can take advantage of all the +HP and with BG mode it's actually significant. Dropping either this or Hoarfrost for travel seems reasonable. Back to Heat Loss. Heat Loss is a lot like Fulcrum Shift, it has two components, a recovery buff that's autohit, your current slotting works fine for that. There's also a debuff component that does require a to-hit check. See here: https://cod.uberguy.net./html/power.html?power=pets.heatloss.heat_loss_debuff&at=mastermind The debuffs are significant and gives Cold a -res spike. My slotting was PS Acc/Rch, PS EndMod/Acc/Rch, PS Endmod/Rch, EA EndMod/Acc/Rch, all +5d. This created acc and EndMod of 84.51 and recharge of 97.89. Minor point - Infrig has a final to-hit of 94.8. That's a power I really really want to hit, so I always use a 50+ 5 basic ACC then procs procs procs.- 21 replies

Snarky I've not paired Dark + Dark on a Stalker but I've played them paired with a different set on the AT, also recently played a Bane and also a Huntsman for one of our teams. First off, I have a hunch traditional stalker play won't mesh well for you. BU+ AS takes some patience. You could work around that by using BU+ Midnight Grasp then AS (with hide p&%c). As for not defeating hard targets, I've soloed Hero class characters with a Bane, also a hidden Crowd Control goes a long way to clearing a room. This was a very specialized build that could produce massive amounts of -res via Venom Grenade, Shatter Armor and all the -res $r%cs (a Bane is able to slot all 3) so ymmv. Re: aoes, both the Hunts and Bane had seamless AOE chains. To get there of course takes some global recharge. So, out of the box, I'm sure the Stalker will produce more ST damage. AOE wise, either the Bane or Hunts is going to offer significantly more as, mentioned above, DM has 2 AOEs that are 7 foot cones. I know that buffing ain't your thang but the VEATs at least give their buffs simply by standing there, there's nothing to do. That said I'm not trying to sell VEATs, just answering your questions.

I queried my spreadsheet and I found (all 50s and t4d, etc) Rad melee & Rad armor, Stalker and Tank Energy melee & Bio Stalker, Scrapper and Tank Time Manip & Fire blast, Corr (live) and Def (HC) As for "impacting the fun", not negatively, in these cases. Tank and Stalker are a very different play experience and even though EM/BIO stalker and scrapper have similarities, it's different enough.

Player Feedback Request: Protector of Paragon City
Hedgefund replied to Dev Unitas's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I rather like the Shauna Braun arc, I tend to do it leveling up because it's a nice merit injection for very little time spent. If I were a merit farmer I'd spend a lot of time with this arc via Flashback. To replace it, Instead of "new shiny" maybe go old school and require the Complicated badge (Frostfire in Flux's arc). -

Not sure what is meant by "unique mistake" but the Steadfast -kb pr%c is not unique. Neither is BotZ nor Karma. -
Keres not spawning in Duncan's 2nd DA mission
Hedgefund replied to nowherewoman's topic in Bug Reports
Diabolique would not port out, she's a non-combat NPC that's quite easy to miss and your write-up makes me pretty certain that's what happened. After freeing Ajax, when you move on towards the end room, you'll go through a big room with an island in the middle, Diabolique is on that island and you have to click through her dialog to get the Keres to spawn. I've done this myself (once) where I simply missed Diabolique and spent a good amount of time retracing steps, ultimately I found her and went on about my way. There's no variability to where she is, always on that island. -
Might you currently be in AE/TF/flashback mode? When you're doing a tf and you gain an exploration tip (like from a zone hunt) you'll see the message flash across your screen but you can't access your tips. Once you're out of AE/TF/flashback mode you'll see it.

You can use the power analyzer from START to see mez effects on mobs. If they were stunned they would have a negative value for that field.

I'm super skeptical of "trust me bro" so I copied a /TA blaster to test and slotted Glue Arrow to look like this: I got my QA god-mode buff and got a Council radio set to +1/8. I wanted even con results for my lvl 50+1. I simply fired off glue in a spawn and would re-apply it when the effect wore off. The result - dayum. One application started putting corpses on the floor. If I were to unretire this blaster I'd certainly be looking to emphasize Glue procs. My evidence (logs, etc)? Trust me bro.

'Defeat the Rikti Master of Arms 10 times' Badge -- How to get?
Hedgefund replied to MikeSol's topic in General Discussion
I'm not going to write a post in the Suggestion sub-forum but I think this U'Kon badge should be awarded by "hit him and get the badge" rules (like the Croatoa GMs) rather than the 10% rule. If 6 teams in the bowl do exactly the same damage then each team will do 16ish% damage, so the margin is pretty thin to create a low damage team that doesn't meet the 10% threshold. -
I'm with Crysis, buy a Defense amplifier and call it a day, at least until Clarion is unlocked and slotted.

I use a mouse with two buttons on the left side that the game calls button4 and button5. If you don't have such a mouse, ignore this message. Button4 is the one closer to your palm, button5 is the other one. I use button4 for teleporting for travel, so my bind is /bind button4 "powexec_location cursor teleport$$powexec_location target teleport" This allows for one click teleporting, as opposed to /bind lbutton+lshift "powexec_name Teleport" which needs two actions from the user, the initial one then clicking the reticle. For this, if I have a target selected, I teleport directly to it (if in range), if no target selected it teleports to where the cursor is pointing. I've started using button5 on a Marine character with cone attacks so I like to Combat Teleport back after using Whitecap. For that I use /bind button5 "powexec_location 180:30 combat teleport" I could have used "back" instead of 180. 180 represents the number of degrees on a circle, which is directly behind you, the 30 is the distance. Details are here about your various options: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Powexec_location_(Slash_Command) To combine with PFF, I'd probably activate PFF first which would result in /bind KEY "powexec_location 180:100 teleport$$powexec_toggleon personal force field" if you'd rather teleport then use PFF I'd swap the order above. I arbitrarily chose 100 in this case for the distance you'll port back, adjust up or down to whatever you're looking for. KEY is the key (or mouse button) you want to bind to. If I can clarify anything let me know, you know how to find me.

New mechanics Kinetics doesn't buff/heal if target defeated
Hedgefund replied to Kai Moon's topic in Bug Reports
Issue 27 Page 1 has this note at the very bottom of the announcement So if Transfusion is no longer healing as a target dies, something broke in a recent update. Siphon Power, Transference and Fulcrum Shift were all changed in i27p1 as well. -
It's baaaa-ack. I haven't seen this since the Oct 8 patch, which I'm guessing this line referred to: However I just experienced it again, details from /whereami: Server: Excelsior Zone/Mission: Office_60_Layout_03_02 Position: [2519.0 54.0 1470.8] This was while playing the Villain tip mission "Merlin's Magical Minute".

Here's the Smuggler's sub from the docks in Grandville, could not be easier to access. I guess if you have "no use for the sub" you're not doing Abyss Hami raids because these subs are the only access. Also I'm curious what day job you're getting from the Smuggler's Sub.
-
You can get to that store in seconds from the Smuggler's Sub, it's only 140 yards away.

A "Triple Set IO" means something boosts 3 attributes, like Accuracy/Damage/Recharge. This, for example: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Ragnarok:_Damage/Recharge/Accuracy_(Superior) A "Dual Set IO" means one that boosts 2 attributes, like Damage/Recharge. This, for example: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Ragnarok:_Damage/Recharge_(Superior) So when the above table says "Superior Triple Set IO" and shows 79.5, that's a result of 26.5 (accuracy) + 26.5 (damage) + 26.5 (recharge). The same follows for the double.

I expected an emphasized "THE" to make it clear I was talking about overall, especially because it's right these in that data that it was #1 overall.
-
The link to that data is right here in this very thread and Bots aren't anywhere near #1 overall. "By a decent margin" lol. It's #1 among MMs at that point but not even top 10 overall.

I'm going to guess this is from that new shard that was added, Vanguard I think it is. I say that because the main page has a reference to a player that is responsible for that server (from what I understand). I wouldn't take too much from the numbers generated, that's a real niche server, Robots THE most popular primary? That doesn't match my "feels" for HC. But to answer the OP, yes, that would be cool info to have.

Global Friends list no longer shows servers?
Hedgefund replied to cohRock's topic in General Discussion
When someone logs off in a mission or a PVP zone (not meant to be an exhaustive list) then they still show up on the global list but they won't have a status or shard. It's easy to distinguish this state. -
PSA: Bonus XP on Lower Populated Shards Coming to an End
Hedgefund replied to Lunar Ronin's topic in General Discussion
Windfall doesn't boost inf. I believe the description used to claim that it did, but I looked at the current description and there's no mention of inf. I have, here on HC, tested inf both with and without windfall, both within AE and outside of AE and never saw an increase of inf.- 56 replies
