  1. Venom - Ed Hardy is a better Venom than Topher.Grace, but he still isn't perfect as Venom. Green Lantern - Ryan Reynolds is perfect for Deadpool, but absolutely shit as Hal Jordan. Nathan Fillion is a much better Hal Jordan. Spiderman - well dam this one is tougher. I gotta give it tW Tobey as Spiderman 2 is probably the best superhero movie ever made. Thor - Chris Hemsworth is a great casting choice. Spawn - at this point I think Jamie Fox's spawn reboot is going the way of Nicolas Cage's Superman. Michael Jai White was so so, but kinda a B rate actor. I like Keith David, but he's getting too old to be Al Simmons. I'd like to see someone like maybe Trevante Rhodes.
  2. Welcome back to another weekly discussion. This week I was thinking about all the characters I have in my cadre, and as I looked through my three accounts I realized I have several even lvl 50s that haven't seen the light of day in a year or more. So it got me thinking about all the characters out there collecting dust. Which character of yours has the longest time since they last logged in? What level are they? AT? Powersets? Are they slotted with enhancements? What spurred you to roll that character? Why has it been sitting idle for as long as it has? How many characters do you have that you haven't played in a year or longer? Will they make a triumphant return to prowling rooftops in spandex or stick to playing pickleball and eating Werther's originals? As always thanks for playing.
  3. Welcome back to another weekly discussion. Sorry I got delayed a bit this week due to Hurricane Idalia, but it ended up being pretty minor in my area (hopefully it ended up not causing any damage/loss of life for those of you also over in the SE). Over the last few weeks I've noticed an uptick in new or newer players (welcome by the way), so I thought this week's topic could be a means for players to provide tips that they think will help out any potential new players. Here's a couple to get started: It's not a race to max level. Take your time. Enjoy the stories along the way, as it will give you a lot of insight into the game's lore and direct you how to access particular areas of the game. Buying enhancements even SO's gets pretty spendy for a new player. You can usually get lvl 25-30 range generic IOs on the market for the price of SO enhancements. These never go red and give you a reasonable enhancement value all the way to 50, where you can save up for other enhancements you decide to buy. If you replace them via a respec when you slot out a character at lvl 50, you can save these generic IOs for an alt that you make later. As always thanks.
  4. Not too much of a slog. With double XP from the P2W vendors you can get a character to lvl 24 in about 2 hours without farming. With farming, about 5 minutes.
  5. I typically do most of the time if for nothing else but to slow a winter's gift. Depending on the toon I like to stack a reasonable level of slow resistance. That said I do have a few toons that don't have a travel power such as my AE farmers, or a widow*. *The widow uses three distinct builds, and has a travel power on one of them, but I'll flip back and forth between which build I'm using on it sometimes as much as 3x per mission.
  6. Tanks and Brutes have the same resistance caps, but tanks have an easier time getting there. Tanks also have a larger HP cap. Tanks do less single target damage than a Brute, but oftentimes do more AoE damage than them due to tank aoes generally being larger in radius or arc. Since tanks can generally get their resistances/defenses higher due to power modifiers, they can also usually make better use of damage procs than Brutes as they might not need the set bonus to get their res/defense to the player's goal.
  7. Based on the criteria....for a new toon it's between plant/dark or plant/cold. You already have a dark/cold, which should be able to meet your criteria, otherwise don't sleep on the plant/ta either, mine is a beast.
  8. Remember to call them by their true name: Skittles.
  9. Just throwing this out there, but rather than the storm melee abilities, you could make this a ranged based blaster and incorporate a form of hurricane to keep mobs out of melee range from you.
  10. If you like ice cream that much, better get yourself an ice cream banana plant.
  11. From a level design standpoint the shard (especially Cascade Archipelago) are some of the coolest looking zones in the game. Although they are generally fairly empty with the occasional group running a TF for a weekly. What do you like or don't like about the Shadow Shard (Firebase Zulu, Cascade Archipelago, The Chantry, The Storm Palace)? What do you think about the zone design? The mission availability? The task force design for each of the TFs? What would you change about the Shadow Shard? Personally I'd make them co-op zones, give the villains a means in, and then try to redesign the feel of the shard so it's like Lanaru is trying to invade the primal dimension and perhaps give them limited breeches. Also I'd make them incarnate level zones as well, and ramp up the story of the zone, while redesigning the TFs to make them narrative driven and not just time sinks. As always thanks.
  12. TinPex doesn't guarantee a purple recipe drop. Market Crash on a new character does.
  13. I mean one time while on a Broadsword scrapper, I tried to use beheader on @GM Impervium but right after I took his head, another grew right back on top of his shoulders and then he was struck with a lightning bolt and activated Freem Mode. Long story short that Broadsword scrapper of mine now has to permanently fight mobs by bending over and swinging my backside towards them. I would not recommend trying to fight that type of GM.
  14. I'm not opposed to something like a war between the hellions and skulls. They were introduced prior to any NPC mob having hostility for any other NPC groups. It would be like the greasers and the socs in Paragon City.
  15. Welcome back. This week's thread is about the street level gangs within Paragon City such as the Hellions, Skulls, Outcasts, Trolls, and Warriors. What do you think of these and other similar street gang esque factions? Do they offer meaningful character development for you as your characters overcome the nuances of your common street gangs before being ready to face other factions? Does their lore hold up in your opinion? What if anything would you change about these kinds of groups? *Why oh why would some of them be stupid enough to try and steal a purse 150 feet from Ms. Liberty and her army of fledging superheroes trying to make a name for themselves?* As always thanks.
  16. Jet Li used a motorcycle to kill someone in The One, and Milla Jovovich killed a zombie with one in Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
  17. It would be difficult for the game to track an IO's previous level before attunement as that would require storing a hidden enhancement level for each enhancement and likely more difficult to code them say the value be based on the set's IO range and the player's level so IOs aren't created that are higher than a player could slot.
  18. Because the Cold shields also boost resistance. The live devs never intended power boost to work on resistance so they flagged powers that had resistance in them to not get boosted. It's been like that since i6 when Cold was released. Force Field's defense has always benefitted from power boost. The +resistance to toxic in deflection shield though is relatively new and when it was coded it was flagged to not enhance the resistance in the power. Realistically someone could make an argument/suggestion in the suggestion box about equity in how power boost effects powers with defense and resistance. Whether or not it gets looked at is beyond me. Cold is still really good even without benefiting from power boost.
  19. I actually like this suggestion, due to the fact that I've built a few toons while drunk over the years and realized I bought an attuned purple or PvP IO. With the current correction to buy an unslotter, post the IO back on the market, sell it, pay the market fee, and then re-buy the non-attuned IO and then 5 enhancement boosters, it ends up costing a bit, especially if you have say 3-5 sets of purples/PvP ios in a toon. I am drinking significantly less now, but then again I am making significantly less 50s that I have to slot these days. Who knows maybe a new set will get introduced down the road like gravity manipulation for blasters or something else that will lure me to the old character creation screen.
  20. Evenly rotate the square while applying an even amount of pressure against a belt sander so that it sands off the edges into a circle. Depending on what kind of material I can make some recommendations towards belt grit. But sad with a low number like a 40/80 and go up from there.
  21. Steamy mist gives you defense, resistance, and stealth which is all useful for solo. Tornado slotted with a overwhelming proc to cause knockdown is an absolute game changer at increasing your mitigation by knocking mobs on their ass. It generally stays with that enemy until the enemy dies, rather then the kb version pre knockdown proc that scatters mobs and chases them.
  22. I have a max level storm/storm defender myself and I'll agree there's a lot of powers that look good, but how did you come to skip Steamy Mist and Tornado? Steamy mist has great utility and increases defense and resistances. Tornado just does a ton of damage.
  23. Hmmm...each secondary has its benefit and drawback but you said you want an AV hunter. Beam Rifle might not be a bad choice as Disintegrate does an extra -150 Regen and Piercing Beam does an extra -20 res. Cutting Beam can fit 2 -res procs as well. The energy damage would easily ignite Oil slick. If you want to stay at range you could go with black scorpion for his shield and the AoE web to immobilize mobs in your oil slick fire. Drawback is that you don't have a heal, so your survivability will be based on your debuffs and slotting.
  24. @Luminara that's pretty awesome to be given a vehicle. Hopefully the repairs are worth it on it. You might have a vehicle with another 100k miles or so as Honda typically makes a pretty good vehicle. Or perhaps you could sell it private party for a profit if it's something you don't need for yourself.
