  1. My daughter just finished book 8 of L. Frank Baum's Oz books, she loves them. I could see film adaptations working, but it would be hard to break away from the Wizard of Oz mold successfully given the majority of the population hasn't even read any of the books.
  2. A fixed 30 sounds better than a 40, but maybe that's just me. It seems like an interesting compromise though.
  3. Kat works well on tankers. I run an Invuln/katana/soul tank myself. It works great with the recharge you'll need for Bio, so you can make ample use of soaring dragon and golden dragonfly. Flashing steel gets a huge cone, divine avalanche's melee/lethal can help you with building relevant defenses there. Stone melee though, between fault and tremor you'll proc a decent amount of FF, and they give a ton of added mitigation. I can see that being a very crunchy pairing as well.
  4. Sadly there's nothing with elbow blades. That said I've paired bio over the years with psi, rad, ss, dark, tw, elec, ice, spines, and water (on the sentinel version). What I've learned is there isn't a bad pairing with Bio. It just works with pretty much any set you throw at it. If I were to roll another bio armor tank, I'd probably pair it with fire melee as I haven't used fire melee much since the changes to it back with page 5 aside of testing it in beta a bit and having the set on a stalker. I do really like stone melee though. I made a post in the tanker sub 2-3 years ago about how awesome SD/SM was. And shy of pairing it with SD, Bio would be an amazing set to pair it with.
  5. I've requested this functionality a few years ago to be able to target enemies by rank, but hasn't been implemented.
  6. @Astralockdefinitely hit the nail on the head..the game is 19 years old, and a lot of us have played for a significant amount of that time, so yes you will find people that seem to know exactly where to go, what zone the next mission will be at, etc. In time you will as well. The most important thing I can think of is letting people know that you're a new player and that you dont know the content if that's the case. Most often people will adapt to help you learn it, and will show you the ropes. Speed TFs are a bit of another story, most casual pug speed TFs will have 1-3 players that can carry the whole TF on their back, and will invite anyone willing to come along for the ride and rewards. I'd advise against joining these until you are comfortable with the content and know what to expect and the limits of your character. There's another type of speed TFs that are pre-mades where a team of players will bring 8 heavily IO'd characters to blitz the TF in as fast as possible, sometimes recording the TF to post for speed running records. You'll see things like a 9 minute ITF or a 11 minute Apex and a 10 minute Tin Mage. And those are modest times for a pre-mades speed run team. Not everyone participates in speed runs and that's okay. Long post short, let people know you're new, and 9 times out of 10 most people will adjust to make you feel welcome and help you out. A tip, you can watch YouTube videos of content you're looking to try, and read the related wiki pages ahead of joining a team for it to familiarize yourself with it.
  7. The damage from a storm Defender primarily will come from the storm summoning set. The energy blast is there to help keep force feedback up to maximize recharge of freezing rain, tornado, and lightning storm.
  8. That was definitely a good change.
  9. That's the main issue I've seen, because some farmers will let people leech off their effort in a sense of "helping others", it's leads to a lot of people not knowing how to travel to various zones despite being a lvl 50 incarnate and following someone's build from the forums like it's a cookie cutter. That said those people can still learn how to play and figure out the content, but in the meantime they can be like children magically in adult bodies not quite sure how to walk. Skipping regular content they might find themselves losing interest quicker than normally, but I guess that's up to them.
  10. Always liked Blue Beetle, so I'll definitely give this one a watch.
  11. My first villain to level cap was a gravity/fire Domi. It didn't have the most synergy when analyzing it's powers, but it was very fun nonetheless. If I were to remake a grav domi today I would likely go grav/psi, grav/ice, or grav/energy I've always enjoyed psionic assault and i can stretch gravity as a telekinesis based set, so it's thematic. Icy assault has some chilling embrace, ice sword circle, and frost breath for after you wormhole a group into a corner. Also has a built-in power boost. Good mitigation. Thematically space is cold, so a singularity id imagine would be pretty inhospitable regarding temperature. Energy ties has a built-in in power boost and gets glowing pom poms. Thematically it ties to comic based space superheroes and such to shoot beams of energy at targets. I would also work sorcery into the set to use enflame/spirit ward on singularity so when you wormhole mobs into a corner singularity blocks them in and the enflame gets to work. Also for that reason /ice mastery for sleet and ice storm would be my choice for an epic power pool. I guess I'd maybe lean grav/icy/ice with a little sorcery for good measure.
  12. I stand corrected. I recall there being one in the final but it's been awhile since I ran it. My original post listed a few events as examples. According to Paragonwiki, GM spawns in zones like paladin, babbage, kraken, etc. are considered zone events. The wiki excluded things like seasonal events which don't normally occur unless a Dev essentially flips a switch.
  13. I actually like this idea on as a general rule of practice for any type of zone event.
  14. Honestly with how HC reduced the level requirements for powers, I think you could probably reasonably skip ice bolt if necessary and use ice blast, bitter freeze ray, and bitter ice blast as a single target rotation assuming you build enough recharge for them. There's 3 punches. Charged brawl, which you'll likely take because it's better value than a single target imob. Havoc punch has decent DPA, and you want a blapper so it's useful for a boss in your face, and Thunderstrike is an AoE with a 50% chance of a mag 3 disorient (which the mag stacks with Force of Thunder).
  15. I think @Nemuis thinking that Force of Thunder's opportunity to be converted into a knockdown that stuns non boss level critters is a perfect way to keep them in position for when you use Blizzard and Ice Storm. Then again I could be wrong. in regards to your original post, I would uninstall and reinstall mids and ensuring that it's working then plan a build in it. You power leveled your character via Mapserver to 42, how you finish it's leveling path is ultimately up to you. scorpion shield is useful if and only if your building for S/L/E. Personally I'm not the biggest fan of cold mastery on a blaster myself but Frozen Armor is comparable but gives res to fire/cold instead of energy def. if I were personally making an ice/elec blaster, I'd go flame mastery for a kb to kd bonfire, fire shield, and melt armor. I'd use IO bonuses and likely build for typed defenses. but as I said it's ultimately up to you. Good luck.
  16. That requires a player or team to complete a 14 mission story arc, warp to their base and then zone into Talos to get it to summon there. Then to get 7 of them, would require coordination of 7 individuals or teams completing the arc as the same time and then zoning to the same zone. The summonable Babbage requires similar efforts.
  17. I'd say that's true of the portions of the Halloween event and the majority of the Mapserver event. However those events are special events that require a Dev to trigger them, and not the focus of at least this week's thread. Your run of the mil zone events often times don't really have much of an XP incentive outside of other content (Hellions Arson in Steel Canyon, Troll Raves, The Protest). Giant monsters each give 6 merits a piece, but it can be niche player created events to summon multiple ones with Synapse TFs and World Wide Red arcs. It seems the main lure on a lot of the regular zone events is for badgers as they typically have at least one badge involved. Is there a particular zone event that you see as a stand still XP grind similar to an MSR?
  18. Welcome to another week of our revolving conversation. This week we delve into zone events. Examples being, but not exclusive, Steel Canyon Fires, Skyway Troll Raves,.Ghost Ship sightings, Brickstown Prison Escape, Caleb, Ghost of Scrapyard, Syndicate Takedown, or the Protest. Note that zone events are different than special events like: Halloween, Winter, Valentine's, Mapserver events that require a Dev or script to trigger. What is your favorite and least favorite zone events? Why is that? How often do you participate in a zone event? Do you find the rewards balanced versus the time and effort required for the event? What would you do to improve zone events overall? How would you design a new zone event if given the opportunity? As always thanks.
  19. I like this idea, would work perfectly for a heaven/hell character like an angel being demonically corrupted.
  20. Or have multiple accounts? I keep track of my characters via an Excel spreadsheet, as having three accounts with a multitude of characters can get a little difficult remembering which account each character is on when I want to play that character.
  21. There's a build in this thread from February. Neither Radiation Blast or Poison have been touched since then. I'd suggest looking at that and updating to suit your preferences yourself.
  22. Being a parent, I've learned that time is a much more precious commodity than I thought. That said I usually can't plan 2+ hour gaming sessions. I do like a 1 hour tin/pex/ITF/yin from time to time though as that gives a decent amount of merits and some incarnate salvage. And yes it can be done within an hour.
  23. I have a 3 build crab/bane, but I've been thinking about rebuilding one of the three builds on it to go crabber mind as it could be more beneficial than the third wolfs spider/medic build that I made on a lark. Regarding your nest eggs for the build, you could either slot out the character, or as another option since your a newish player...500 mil is a nice starting point to do some marketing, perhaps you can grow that into a few billion influence and still get to slot out your character (mind you marketing can take longer than the buy slot play of just purchasing the IOs). The path is open to all those willing to walk along it.
  24. Interesting so it's something unique with the flashback.
  25. Stay tuned. You might see something happen with it in the future. I've been busy tearing down the statute of Statesman and replacing it with one of me instead. We're also opening up the Kallisti Brewery where we have a rotation of 90 beers on tap, including 12 of our own including our new Super Powdered Milk Stout floated on ice cream for the warm days away from the random gang violence in the streets.
