Gobbledygook

Apologies for not updating. When I hit revive the next morning, the debuffs kept me down. They lingered through the bed inspection. I think I got hit with the Vahz wasting disease. Apparently 2 bottles of Jack are bad for you, mmkay.

Ok, I decided that I'd slow level this toon. You know, run the starting contacts, no dbl xp. Well, when you're drinking, it's hard to follow the story. Mostly cause it's hard to read, but whatever. After 30 minutes and only being lvl 4, I decided to pick things up a bit, grabbed dbl xp booster and went to town. Well, the sewer, anyway. Me, someone that had been drinking scotch, and some other fine players I lured to my cause of getting me xp by rhyming and lying about my ability to pay their dry cleaning bill. I noticed I actually died on this DFB. Twice. I also noticed a distinct lack of a satisfying sound effect when attacking. I will pay more attention when I'm not drinking, but in my opinion, when ripping someones intestines out and shoving them in their face, there should be meatier sound effects.

So, with the semi-frequent discussions that have occurred recently regarding Regen, and my disliking it since it was nerfed (cutting regen percentage on Integration and Instant healing, changing IH to a click instead of a toggle, the purple patch, which lowered the effectiveness of powers such as Tough and Weave), I decided to make one for myself, with a primary that would not really sway the survivability of the secondary. As I had already ran a FM to 50, and wanting to try a new powerset, I chose Savage Melee. This is where I will chronicle my journey with this character, noting the good and bad. I will be leveling without the use of IO's until around 35 or 40. I also plan on skipping most of the pool powers that have a direct effect on survivability, with the exception of tough. No RoP, no accolades (except the passives). I am currently drunk, as my healing factor has not kicked in enough to handle this Jack Daniels. I reserve the right to edit this initial post to fix grammatical errors, make bad jokes, and to add any information I find to be pertinent at a later (sober) time.

I was thinking Savage, as it's a set I haven't played yet I'll read up on it tonight/tomorrow and then start him up. Any suggestions Savage Melee, Or which side to start? Blue/Gold/Red?

I think is the second time I've seen a Regen discussion turn into a SR discussion.

Disclaimer: I have not attempted Regen since the great nerf of the dark times. Unnecessary background info follows: Back in Issue 0, I made a Claws/Regen Scrapper as my first toon. This was my first MMO, and I did not know a great deal about the powers, or even how to play. I did not have tough, and I never knew about perma MoG. I didn't even know about the forums. All I knew was one day Gobbledygook was amazing fun to play. He would get hit, and his health bar would drop dramatically, I would hit reconstraction or Dull Pain, and it would rise, quickly. The passive regen was good enough that it would take at least 6 mobs to cause to need to use a click heal. As there have been quite a few threads and discussions on Regen lately, I have decided to test Regen myself. My plan is to run a Regen Brute, 1-50, with no farming or PL'ing at all. I am having a little trouble deciding what primary set to pick though, as I am wanting to test Regens effectiveness, not the mitigation that an attack set can provide Regen. That means sets that provide +def, like Katana or Browdsword are out. Same with DM, as it provides a self heal. So, I come to you good people. And you too, @Snarky, for opinions and advice. I may even log this experiment for posterity.

I myself have called for changes to regen since the " Great nerfing of Regen". I disagree with people that say Regen would lose it's identity if IH was made back into a toggle. I say it would regain it's identity. Anywho, with all of the recent discussions on Regen, and a comment that @Erratic1 made in their SS/EA thread, I have decided to make one and see for myself.

I'd prefer a few more rounds of improvements and proliferations before work on new AT's begin. Looking at you Regen. Did you know Scrappers still don't have Super Strength yet?

Just checking. I saved the build when the player in question first posted it, though I can't remember their name now to save my life. I already started working on it, guess I'll kick it up a notch, try to get some use out of it before there are any changes to procs.

Yeah, I need to revisit my Fm/Inv brute now that the changes have been live for awhile. I don't think anything has actually changed much in regards to the build, though.

I wont ask for you to post the build, I will simply ask, is it "The Aprocalypse" build?
