Farm fresh builds! *Farming focused builds and tips*
Sanguinesun replied to Warlawk's topic in Guides
This is a good, explanation on what's going on and I do agree, this is a shame that after 3 years that this was done and indeed is an intentional nerf directed to and specifically against farming. The "normalized" language is was an intentional misdirect as well to try to ameliorate those intentions. It is a shame and I do hope that there will be methods worked out that can help farming be what has been enjoyed by players for these past 3 years. However, I also think this is just one step in the team's intentions: to phase out/implement more measures to discourage farming. After all, they had more stringent plans that were to be enabled back in July but backed away from that for Page 4 due to players' criticisms of it. That establishes that that mindset/intentions are there. HC has benefitted from letting people play and enjoy the game as they wish for these 3 years for the most part. And while I know some farmers have been saying they're also disappointed, I encourage farmers to actually farm more. Discouragement is the intent, thus redoubling efforts to farm and assist those wanting to partake of farms is a better route. Thank you again for taking the time to look into this and please keep doing so. More farm makers and farmers that know/understand these things, the better. -
Server: Excelsior Just built a base on a secondary account's toon. When I moved the Base portal it no longer would work to exit the base. It did work before moving however. Things tried but failed to fix it: 1. Completely logged out of the game and then back in. 2. Moving the portal to different rooms. 3. Moving the portal inside the room in different locations(open with nothing around it). 4. Lowered the flooring and placed the portal. 5. Changed room decor(just in case it was something due to it). 6. Exiting via an oroboros portal(only way to actually leave the base currently), re-entering, and then tried to use the portal also didnt work. Also, I had a player helper join the SG, gave editing permissions and they also confirmed the same issue after trying multiple different methods as I did. Hopefully this can get looked into quickly. Thanks.

Dangerous question to be sure. 😛 That'd mean farming would become even more efficient and we certainly dont want a return to the early years of the game 😛 Else we'd see storm defenders herding all of Perez park for groups standing at the entrance.

I've been disappointed with the update on various levels of things. Sounds for the new symphony powerset I think could've been nicer instead of what's been used. Both that set and the sonic assault in the low levels seem to miss targets a lot too. Aggro changes are a mixed bag and while it was marketed to be same/similar for groups, its not been the case from my anecdotal experiences today. Everyone's been focusing either ire or adulation(seemingly from the Anti-AErs) for the changes for farms but there's also been changes that affect people who try to level low toons solo who do not always have the benefit of teams due to server times/personal schedules/or just wanting simplistic missions vs something else. *shrug* I'm extremely curious how the changes that were enacted managed to cause the bug with the the DFB AV. Just would be interesting to know how that managed to occur. As for the tier'd end game content, that'd be a long time out if ever before I'd have a min/max toon viable for such wow-esque mythic raiding so to speak :P. Anyway, its what the dev's've given us for dinner, and invariably we have to eat it or excuse ourselves from the table :P.

Farm fresh builds! *Farming focused builds and tips*

Would be nice to see a post Update set of data out of curiosity sake. -
Was thinking the same thing. Though his "come on down" was Prices Right really hehe. Mon T. Haul Probably would've been ok.

Same Also this whole thread made me think on this quote: "Alas, eleventy-one years is far too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable hobbits. I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." -Bilbo Baggins

Sorry. I had misunderstood then per this response that the thread was about Trapdoor tests from the title and that's why I'd framed the questions and comments as such. I misunderstood and was simply conjecturing what a build around burnout's function would do since I'd read in other threads people's use of burnout to get more ls etc out of it. I understand that's not your intent since you're saying your builds are more for purposes that as well happen to be viable for the tests and videos you're making otherwise. Again sorry for asking questions on things.
-
This becomes even more confusing then because this is the build quoted from the other thread where you have Living Shadows in the build and the one I mentioned I was using: Level 50: Invader
-
Thank you for your response. If I understand what you're saying correctly, you're saying that because you're doing these Trapdoor tests on live with builds you've already specifically made for use with other game play usages that burn out's use for a Trapdoor test in this capacity isn't a viable consideration. I wonder then if such was played around with on the beta test server (if they still let you set up anything as they used to... not been on there in ages), what you conjecture would be the results? Would a burnout build you'd craft be considerably more effective due to your depth of knowledge of builds and choices or would it be not demonstratively significant in differences?
-
Thanks for the reply and forgive me for not still understanding somethings. I recognize the depth and detail to which you meticulously make your choices between builds but I don't understand the direction your response took regarding the procs. To me, from a person who is not at your caliber of play and just looking at the Tinman and the LR builds, I see relatively the same amount of procs. Differences I noticed were the Tinman build has considerable more resistance in most damage categories than the LR one and LR has more 12-20% more defense depending on the type. Tinman build too Smite, grant invis, and phase shift over LR's build taking living shadows, dark obliteration, and soul drain. Your response talks a lot about builds related to easy game play but the thread I thought was supposed to be about ultimate high level solo play so that has me confused too. Tinman's build looks more protective to a certain degree than that of the LR one from my perspective but its a 3 player cited run build while LR's cited as a solo one. So I'm just trying to understand better. Please do not feel my queries are any thing but trying to understand your thinking/considerations. Thanks.

Thank you. I had sifted a bit farther back in your posts and had found this thread and had been trying to start to build from that one: Both sets have different choices, especially in the later powers. What constitutes the differences in those considerations between the two builds for you?
-
You make way too many assumptions there....
-
Thank you. When I have time I guess I'll try to go through your posts to see if I can find them then, though I'm not sure which of them then I should consider.
-
Could you share your build for this? I'm intrigued.

Players that are sitters every single time

Intolerance would still be a aspect of ego though. -

What do the devs want (what what what what)?
Sanguinesun replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in General Discussion
I hate you. Truly and deeply I hate you. I haven't had a good Chicago style pizza in over 20 years and I miss it. -
I'm sorry for the lack of reliability that you experience in your area. This isn't always the case for everyone/every area. Again, my recommendations were not for them to use big box stores as you infer but again local shops that their reputation keeps them in business against big box versus trying to act like a car dealership. Local places I know grab a clip board with a parts fill in list and walk the aisle with you on new parts and explain to you step by step what each part offers for a rig and compatibility of the parts etc. I also have encountered this over seas too so it seems that its better to simply know the sketchy places from the others. Again I wasn't advocating buying from a "local" store front of a big chain. I was advocating going to a proper local run store that caters to customization, parts, and service.

A 1050 is an entry level card for the 1000 series cards. It is, in essence, a low end card and could be compared to 900 series or lower in terms of performance usually. The 1660Ti (Ti just means a better version with slightly better performance/features of that card's number) on the other hand is the other side of the spectrum in the 1000 series cards. In terms of looking at only what the 1000 series cards offer, you're comparing a car to get around town to a car built for performance. However, in terms of CoH game play, both cards are pretty much better than most all cards that were available at the time that CoH was live(most all mind you). If you want a better play experience with CoH, either card is going to be fine though if you plan to play other games with more recent graphic fidelity/performance demands, then the 1660Ti is a better option. That said, your computer's RAM and CPU choices are very important. Also if you have a large, good quality SSD instead of an HDD (storage for games programs etc) this can also improve some game play performance on most games. In terms of asking people to recommend prebuilt machines for you, I recommend you look locally in your area for stores that build computer rigs for you as well as sell prebuilts. They can help you more in terms of determining what you would need and explaining to you(and with visuals there) as to the components you wish to use). Additionally, if you decide to not purchase from them, you are better informed on how to then shop some place else for yourself. And one final point: do not buy any computer rigs that say they are APU rigs. They're essentially laptop components(inferior ones I might at) that are thrown into a desktop and called a desktop for marketing shenanigans. Other games I play have people every so often coming to their forums complaining about performance issues or graphics issues and not a small number were APU rigs.

It is 2019: How would you update the city?
Sanguinesun replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
Why does there have to be an update to the city focused on the current time period? Consider CoH to be its own alternate reality and time period without the influx of flatscreens or similar things. That would be more reasonable/logical. -
Connecting a Nemesis Dot? Most might think they're not. But of course they're mapping a course with a Nemesis Plot.

Often times, especially in the lower level tf's folks running ahead are relatively new/rusty to CoH. In other situations, it can be where say for example one person is a brute who has tunnel vision with wanting to keep their fury high and running from group to group. etc etc etc etc But I think its a bit silly to take the default stance from the title of your thread that said player was "sabotaging" the task force. They more than likely weren't intentionally trying to cause it to fail. Again they simply may not have known better, were impatient with the speed/pace the team was going, thought the team would want to kill in larger sum groups etc etc. All in all, its up to the folks on the team to speak up and try to get the other person(s) to understand what is going on. If they balk and working with the group then you and the team know they are intentionally trying to cause problems and then its up to the person with the lead to then decide if its best for the team if said person moved on to greener pastures.

Bloody Rainbow Comic Con Fire Farm Update
Sanguinesun replied to brigg's topic in General Discussion
Of course I wasn't implying by one account. However we do not know the specific number of accounts required to trigger the autoban either so better to not assume on that front. Folks stirring up a band wagon'ing against someone else's arc isn't that unlikely. There, as we know, people who dislike AE and what it allows folks to partake in after all.
