  1. Even Rebirth does QOL. Cake is the wild funserver of the bunch where you can be as OP as you like. You can't really escape QOL.
  2. If TFs become faster, is that not a good result?
  3. Actually, it was for the Vet level change and with that moved to the Emp Merit change it was given a response in the appropiate thread: For a page that is primarily about Powers, this is 100% necessary IMO. You can thank Page 4 for that, really. The absolute meltdown at Attack Type Changes among other things made it clear that making fully detailed patch notes like what's mentioned in this quote box? It doesn't do any good. That, at least, is a mentality I could see forming after reading various posts through Page 4 and in the aftermath of it going live. The vitriol from people skyrocketed, and annoying that it was so entwined with Patch Note Reactors vs actual testers. Personally, while it would be nice to know why? It is not owed to us. They're not a professional studio, and they're not earning money from this. It's these reasons and more that cause me to roll my eyes when transparency is mentioned/thrown about. I get that getting crunchy details is becoming the norm, but not everyone will or has to follow the norm of professionals - especially when it wouldn't really sate people. It'd just invite the same stuff that happened with prior pages - arm-chair "developers" and their takes on what makes a "good" change. And they do try when it breaks the rules of the beta section - but that doesn't stop people from posting "This change is shit." and nothing else. Or harping eternally about conspiracy theories and dead community. It's why I'm more than happy to point them off towards Rebirth or Cake - where they might find more enjoyment if a single change is causing them this much distress and anguish. I would agree with you if circumstances were different. But engaging with this community on the forums is like sticking your hand into a vat of hungry piranhas. Detailed notes wouldn't do a thing to lessen the issues the forums create. There's no real perfect solution, but the one of patch notes as they are is what I'd rather have over inviting even more forum warfare over dev decisions/thought process. I am the Ultra Simp for the dev team because I wouldn't wish the forum community upon even my worst enemies.
  4. Depends on the AT and build and difficulty settings, but that's a whole rabbit hole I'm sure we shouldn't get down into.
  5. But if you're only reading the patch notes and reacting off of that then that's not helpful. That's not the sort of feedback that's generally looked for - unless there's something to contradict that. That's entirely what made the last page a mess on Attack Type Changes (as an example) and is making feedback on the Levels for Powers change get bogged down - by people going only off the patch notes. If you can't put in the minimal effort to actually give it a shot, then one should not be surprised if people get a bit snippy (even if they shouldn't) - given prior experiences with past pages. It brings out the worst because people don't want to test - which is the entire point it goes to Open Beta in the first place. They're looking to adjust/improve the changes, or if its really that universally bad, take another crack at it. They're not looking for Random Forum Poster's wall of text about their thoughts from patch notes alone. If that's what they worked off of, we'd be in a way worse position IMO. Patch Notes -> Feedback tells the devs nothing. It has no real good impact on what's working and what isn't. They're not looking for "I don't like this despite never testing it out.", and that's how it's always worked. Not everyone can access/wants to access beta, sure, but they should give up the ability to give feedback until it hits live. That, while harsh, is just the nature of things - you can't and shouldn't have it both ways. Image attached has some relevance.
  6. Personally, my lack of care towards power creep comes from the fact - at any day this could disappear. This isn't the live service game - it's a private server run by volunteer devs who have a vision that may or may not be decipherable. As I said in the thread - if you don't like it, then don't change a thing about your slotting. It will not have a negative effect on the pre-45 game.
  7. Released: Outcome
  8. Last page's collective shit-the-bed at the Attack Type Changes (as an example besides the VL/Emp Merit stuff) shows that feedback needs to be carefully picked from. A number (idk, i'm no statician) of folks would rather HC be stale and dead than move forward. Or otherwise think the devs should work on things the community wants (which is a bad idea on its own) - without any other word or say.
  9. Posts get deleted if they violate the pinned topic's rules: Could have been the power creep argument that got obliterated or it was veering elsewhere, who knows.
  10. Honestly, anything can get people who agree with the developers. Happens all the time to actual studio'd games. It's just part of the cycle. Personally, I don't really enjoy telling others to fuck off but if they can't and won't add anything constructive to beta testing then why are they here? If HC's changes are that miserable for them, then why do they continue to inflict that self-imposed suffering? Yes, you get people telling others to fuck off - which is a bit much. But pointing out there are other servers that may be more their speed isn't really an issue. Pointing people to a place where they might find more enjoyment is a nice thing to do! The STFU part is more... towards those who refuse to test and harp on negatively without adding anything to the conversation. Or who just read patch notes and instead of giving it a whirl they immediately go 0 to 100 on the Negative Nancy meter.
  11. Black Zot reappearing to be a Negative Nancy aside; I'm interested in seeing how the level availability changes mix things up for builds & in lower level content. Power creep is a non-issue.
  12. Trinity gaming is how most MMOs work. Damage, heal, and tank. There's just also support thrown in there too.
  13. Farmers killed my family.
  14. Quick, someone say something to get this thread locked! (I'm kidding don't do that)
  15. I'll be updating it sooner or later, got busy. Thanks for the posts, Spectral!
  16. On that day I was annoyed with Group Fly, ehehe.
  17. Hard Mode is its own beast of requiring near proper team compositions. It is not indicative of it coming to regular content. Here's the thing about Hard Modes: If you really want to, you CAN do it with all Masterminds. You will have a hell of a time but you can do it. Want to do it with all PBs? Sure, go right ahead. You'll just hit a brick wall on 3/4 stars or take forever. This can be said for any AT. Why? Because the team is unbalanced and is lacking at least one (or more) of the crucial aspects to team content. You can definitely go all in on blasters, but now you're lacking someone to tank and you're lacking the -heal/-regen/-res/-def (usually) etc. This is just the nature of the various difficulties. Things get made much much easier if you actively put effort into the team building part of the game. Want to not have half the team wipe when an AV goes Goblin Mode? You need a tanker, brute, or even a Scrapper depending on sets. Want to be able to stop enemies from dogpiling your booty? Dominators and controllers are right there. Want to buff your friends and absolutely obliterate your enemy's stats? Defenders, corruptors, controllers, and MMs are right there. In Hard Mode, you are asking for trouble (in varying senses) trying to approach it like a +4/x8 Council Radio. If you want to put on the snooze button and glide through Council at +4/x8? Great! That's not on the radar to be touched or tweaked in meaningful ways - aggro changes aside. Want to solo AVs in Maria's arc? Have at it! Want to solo Yin? Go give it a shot and have fun! Optional content isn't really going to bleed into the rest of the game - despite what doomsayers may believe or think. Personally I want more promotion of AT diversity, but this isn't my server. If the only form we ever get that is through Hard Modes? Cool beans. Also the holy trinity isn't a bad thing but that's a discussion for another time.
  18. Traps is great, frick you.
  19. God, nih, stop being such a ass kisser to the devs. Shitpost aside, I've had fun going onto HM ITFs. Wacky at times, but fun.
  20. Oh no, using a good tactic to avoid getting splatted by the enemy. What a tragedy.
  21. I figure they will make adjustments when the Fresh Smell wears off. Also bear in mind that we only have access to T1 Costume Powers and not the full selection.
  22. You are really trying so hard to hammer in on the Aether and their prices. The very big difference that you are actively excluding are the factors of: It's a new shiny thing that rewards access to NPC Costume Powers & a set of new badges It is an in demand new shiny thing that has potential to enable cool concepts and/or funny screenshots There are more costume powers to come that feed into the above points. The money that the Aether made people is to be expected and to weigh it against the longer standing AE farming is disingenuous given AE farming is more the long route of taking things. You cannot compare a New Shiny Thing to the Older Long Standing Method, because people are going to spend that influence on the New Shiny. Where as the Old Method to getting the most influence/EXP has always been there (since AE's introduction years and years ago) and isn't going away. You cannot compare apples to oranges, but yet you keep trying to.
