  1. I'm not sure the superhero video game forum is the place to make a stand about how the real world works, but I think we're just going to have to fundamentally accept we have differences of opinion here that will not be swayed by the other party.
  2. Hell, realistically, this memorial topic also did not get an official response, the topic questioning the existence of memorial NPCs did.
  3. Well... no. It hasn't only come up a day ago. There's been other memorial NPC request topics, they just sort of fell into the aether without a official response. Heraclea being the other one I remember most recently. In fact, I don't think it's unreasonable to say that the only reason this one got a response is because there was a memorial topic, with a topic questioning memorials right above it on the same forum, and both were receiving a lot of activity. Which in of itself isn't great if the only way to get an answer is just having combative and inflammatory forum posts going back and forth.
  4. I don't think it's a perfect world level ask to say, hey, this was in place four years ago. You should probably make sure your team has, internally, been aware of this. I'm not saying "whoa, you made this decision 3 hours ago on the US east coast, why doesn't the guy who lives in Finland know about it yet," four years is an awful lot of time.
  5. Right, which they should at least know internally about.
  6. I acknowledge it's impossible to have pre-emptive rules in place for everything, but this most recent example, Widower's response post mentioned it had already been internally decided since the last memorial NPCs went live (i27, which was four years ago). I'm not saying they need to have branching policies to acknowledge hypotheticals here, I'm saying that decisions they made that had been made for years? It's reasonable to assume that there'd be some internal policy list that they could point to and go 'hey, this is a no'.
  7. S'alright. For clarity's sake in case someone else misread it: The GM team should know where they, internally, stand on issues, so we don't have, as the most recent example, a GM tell us to request a feature that the GMs have already internally decided will not be done. It just creates less work for everyone involved.
  8. If you would read the post you'd see that is not what I took issue with.
  9. I don't have much heart or fire remaining after the past few days. It would be nice to at least have there be an internal consistency, if not outward clarity, so we don't run into issues like this one where a GM tells us to go to the forums and create a topic to request something then have another GM answer in another topic that they don't do that thing anymore.
  10. You couldn't read the post, why would anyone argue the points you pulled from the ether.
  11. He edited more in actually.
  12. Dude over here dressed in trash bags yelling about challenging him in open combat here, in the field of ideas.
  13. if i see a name i don't recognize on a plaque i will think "wow. this person was loved."
  14. yeah this is a game where your main is just a flagship, your banner, and the idea of "nah here's a big rock with no names" just nullifying all the creativity of people who've passed doesn't sit with me. i'd rather get nothing and have the chance to build something in their stead than that
  15. none of my friends group will feel slighted if the character/player does not get a memorial, they wouldn't have wanted us to feel badly about it. and they were modest enough that they probably didn't think they warranted one but all the stories and reaching out we got back from people playing the game day to day made us just huddle up and be like "well... should we ask?" and we all felt there wasn't any harm in asking. if it happened it happened, if it didn't it didn't. we just wanted some way to share them back to the community i knew a good number of the memorial NPCs, i was most familiar with a couple virtue reps, and i found out they passed via the NPCs. it felt like a punch to the gut but i was glad to have the closure and knowledge. i think i might've actually helped with the Ascendant one? I remember vaguely that the Titans forums were like "does anyone have Ascendant's costume file" and I went and found it on virtueverse, repaired the costume file, and uploaded it. anyway, just. i get it but this all still feels real raw to me so i don't have a good alternative suggestion. the generic tombstone monument kinda sucks. this is a game of creativity and passion behind each character we use as our mainstay for some, and every character we make for others. i'd much rather have custom NPC support to set up our own little memorials in sg bases.
  16. i understand where people are coming from but it's still rough to essentially see a topic like "we draw the line at your friend specifically"
  17. even if this doesn't go through, if there was just a way to do custom npcs in bases so all of us could do our own little memorial thing, it'd be cool.
  18. It was so heartwarming to see that almost everyone who showed up the vigil at least could identify the character when mentioned and that so many had a just a little story to tell that had brightened their day at some point. I spent some time notifying other communities, and just... it was the same thing, everywhere. Everyone had a story, everyone had a positive outlook. I am going to miss them, and also, yes, please.
  19. I've read Snarky's stories, if I were on a team with him, I would simply leave and join another content in the knowledge that he is functioning as a magnet to vacumn up 7 bad players, increasing my odds of a smooth team.
  20. they were a very fun person. was looking forward to getting to blow up illuminate with them. haven't been able to put anything to paper that feels right, just, they were a great player and i'll miss them.
