  1. Knockback is the bane of any tanks existence. Especially one who runs auras that buff them, like with Willpower or Energy Aura.
  2. Keep in mind there are some very profitable uncommons. Steadfast Protection I’m looking right at you. Sure, but if you're always running Lv50 content, you are only getting Lv50 recipes. Steadfasts are 20 merits from the merit vendor. You can run an Apex/Tin Mage around 30 minutes for 80 merits.
  3. Uncommon To Hit Debuff, Defense Debuff, Knockback, Fear, Sleep, and Disorient almost always convert to Rare when converted to the same type. Then you can just convert that Rare to something else. It's by far the easiest method I've done for getting Rares. On a personal level, I don't use those sets in my builds often so I will usually have stockpiles of those for easy conversion.
  4. This is the best guide for anyone interested in making fun AE missions. Highly recommend this.
  5. I wouldn't roleplay with this guy either after reading his comments in the thread.
  6. The game isn't difficult to understand. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of resources on how to play this game. There is no "civic duty" when it comes to letting people have fun. If you play an MMO, you know how tanks, healers, damage dealers, and CCers work. The game is very forward and is even easier to understand. Not to mention the amount of people who will help one another learn the in's and out's of a character, the sets, and/or the AT. I got a Tanker to 50 after never having played either of the sets (Bio Armor/Ice Melee) or the actual class. It was not difficult to understand, and infact, it was incredibly easy and mind numbingly boring. Guess what? Not only did we clear the task force, but nothing bad happened. TLDR: This game is not difficult and people should stop gatekeeping people who want Level 50s. Stop perpetuating the idea that this game is hard, when it isn't.
  7. Yep! It's still very good. A little rough due to the immobilize being a cone, but a friend did well.
  8. Shiver helps keep them at range, though. Frozen Aura I need to be in melee for. If you take Frozen Fists, Ice Sword, Chilling Embrace, Ice Patch, Freezing Touch, or any T9 in the Primary Power, you will already be in melee.
  9. Burn has a radius of 8. Burn hits a good chunk of the enemies surrounding you. Frozen Aura has a radius of 10. You can figure out the rest. Mag 2 or not, it is still a good damage mitigation tool to have compared to Shiver which might only hit one enemy if you aren't paying attention to mob placement.
  10. Yes, I second this. I'm not sure which powers are clunkers and which are keepers. Charged Brawl is a stinker, Static Discharge is a cone and you'll want to be in in the mob for Conductive Aura so it's a stinker, and Thunder Strike's AOE damage is abysmal. Everything is solid, but the damage is fairly weak.
  11. I would say Elec/Earth, personally. Better damage values, Power Boost for Conductive Aura, an additional and more reliable knockdown in the way of Tremor and Stone/Heavy Mallet. Most go 4 Expedients (for the +recharge) or 3 Soulbound (Damage/Rech, Acc/Dam/Rech, Chance for Build Up)
  12. I would opt for agility to give you that extra edge on defense, endurance, and recharge. You might not need it, but it goes a long way. You could go Musculature for damage, but I think you'd get more use out of agility, personally. Interface should absolutely be Reactive or Degenerative, the latter being better on bosses and above. Ageless you could pick Barrior for the defense/resistance, or ageless for even more recharge for a safe cushion. Hybrid I'd suggest support for the overall buff.
  13. Coyote, I'm sure, is just as popular of an online handle as any other popular online handle.
  14. As much as I am all about an auto-50, the devs have said time and time again there won't be one. As much as that sucks, I can't really blame them too much. I also made a farming character and got myself to 50 with 0 influence to my name. I actually made two characters because I didn't think Spines/Fire Brute would be very good early in the server's life, so I made a Fire/Kin which turned out to be a huge mistake. Got a relatively cheap build, farmed my first character to 50 in about four hours. Just upgraded the build recently to something significantly better and it takes around 2:30 hours. I'd venture to say when farming L1-50 can be done consistently, by a large number of people, in under an hour, then it might be worth looking into a auto-token.
  15. It's better damage mitigation than shiver if you're in a mob and only using single target powers.
  16. The +1 mag won't really benefit you too much. You're better off going support or assault. The passive bonuses for both of those will also outclass control's bonus.
  17. Caltrops was taken because I didn't know what else to throw in. It was just a set mule, but it's up frequently that you can spam it and get the proc to go off even if it doesn't off the first time. I wouldn't go to maneuvers because that's just more endurance being drained from you. Combat jumping provides an easier method of moving through the maps. You can also put the celerity stealth proc in sprint if you so desire to do that.
  18. Not to mention, if your team has no hard control powers... what do you have? Are you running an all melee team, in which case you have high defense? Are you running an all blaster team that can just steamroll everything with damage? Are you running only support toons which can just debuff the enemies to hit or defense/resistance? Shiver isn't a good power. The -slow and -recharge isn't worth it. Especially when you can take actual damage mitigation powers such as Ice Slick or Frozen Aura. Edit: you also get Shiver at 28. You should have plenty of moves to utilize to wipe things out without any hard controls.
  19. I would say the best sets are Plant and Earth, followed by Ice and Electric. All of those sets have very strong controls, meaning getting the entire mob next to you and being able to drop damage mitigating tools such as static field, arctic air, earthquake, or carrion creepers. Once the group is huddled and immobilized and is either stunned, confused, slept, or held, you can start unleashing all of the AOEs that martial is good for.
  20. Here's an Ice/Martial build I made for my friend @Oak for his character Professor Moth. It does not have all of the kicks, but it is very AOE heavy and he clears +4x8 like a pro. It's a significantly cheaper version of my Earth/Martial build which uses a lot of purples, something you are not looking for. His endurance isn't much of an issue as he does not run tough (iirc) and has ageless up every 2 minutes to counterbalance the costs. You can take a look at it, maybe it'll help you figure some things out :) http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/download.php?uc=1584&c=717&a=1434&f=HEX&dc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
  21. I don't want ANYTHING to change on this set except correcting some of the damage numbers (explosive shuriken's damage seems far too low for a T9) and some other values (the snipe's damage comes out a second after the animation ends). That set is one of the most dynamic sets I've ever played. On the private server, I had an Earth/Martial Dom. It was the most fun I had in the game since my Grav/Time, and others have commented dynamic and original every move looked. The AOE is the best part about the set. Pull everything together, lock them in place with mass immobilize, then Trick Shot -> Explosive Shuriken -> Dragon's Tail. If you have any AOE DoT, like Caltrops with the -Res proc, toss those down and start burning through enemies like they're wet tissue paper. My friend farmed with a Plant/Martial Dom in the fire farm because of the strong AOE capabilities. Here's a clip.
  22. If I'm farming, I'll invite random people on the farm and help them out in some levels. If someone is working on a build, I'll give them money or IOs that I got from farming. If someone is struggling on a low level mission, I'll get one of my 50's who has a good build and go in and help. If someone is running a task force and needs a specific type of AT ("need CC" or "need tank" or "need buff/debuff"), I'll go do that. I owe a lot to people who helped me get to a good spot, so I just pay it forward and do what they did to help me.
  23. It doesn't hurt to do that, no. They're very effective regardless of what level you are. And if you decide on a better build that doesn't use 'em, just superior them first and sell them for easy money :)
  24. Counter proposal: let people play the game how they want, please. People want to farm and have characters quickly, along with full builds. They are also seeding the market and drastically reducing costs of purchasing components. It is not taking away anybody's ability to start teams with friends or new folks. It is making it slightly harder to sift through some of the LFG channel, sure, but in the long run, there are still people who want to level the old fashioned way. Those who farm, myself included, want to have a character fully outfitted to play on. I want to be a hero/villain with everything unlocked, steamrolling through enemies. Forcing someone to play the game how you want them to play is really scummy thing to do.
