  1. This is my fear. I'd suggest swapping the T2 and T3 powers (so you can get a hold at level 1 and no newer players get trapped in the "my only attack has a 45 second recharge" thing.
  2. The issue I see with it is that it's got a 30 second limit and still has the same recharge. Meaning Mind Control still is limited in its setting up of containment against AVs.
  3. I'm assuming you're playing empathy or pain? "When all your have is a hammer, everything begins to look like a nail" The stronger buff/debuff sets allow for the need for less, and sometimes even no, healing. There's a reason Cold, Trick Arrow, Traps don't have a heal, they don't need them.
  4. Since I'll have to respec to move the slot, I probably will go O2 boost for the absorb proc. It has saved a few toons multiple times.
  5. A proc will cause aggro in either of these attacks.
  6. RE: water spout... I've never tried it without the kb->is. I believe in game it says knock back, but looking at CoD it is clearly knock up. I'll have to try the build without the io and make sure. Hmm, now what can I do with the extra slot? I'm on my phone now, so can't see the build to decide. Perhaps the soulbound chance for build up in phantom army
  7. I love force field, so don't think i'm dissing it when I say this... That being said, if you're looking at dishing out as many buffs as you can to yourself, Force Field only has 1 self buff (Don't get me wrong, it's a great self buff) Electrical Affinity has 5 powers that can affect you (4 of them buffs, 1 heal) They have to be targeted to an ally, but it gets the wonderful power Galvanic Sentinel which you can target and bounce your buffs off of to yourself.
  8. This thread feels like it's 1 match away from being a flame war.
  9. What smaller snarky said. Basically, sometimes missions are given in a random order. If you want to try and sync up with a friend while this is happening, one of you can "abandon" your mission (done by taking to the contact again and choosing abandon) then talk to the contact again. This will give another roll of the mission choosing RNG.
  10. I don't think you're going to get any more recharge out of it than the couple of small changes I made... at least without losing defense. The big thing that I saw is that your Ragnarok in Psi tornado past the "rule of 5" meaning it wasn't giving you a bonus, so I switched that to a Positron's Blast. I also moved a few slots (don't need the KB->KD in Psi tornado, it does knock up, so the io doesn't do anything) and got the cherished 8.75% global recharge bonus out of O2 boost. With those two changes, you're down to ~59 seconds without Alpha slot. Note that this is *NOT* technically permanent, because of cast time. NewIllusion.mbd
  11. There are just a couple of very rare things that do various untyped damage. These would not be affected by resistance. As for Defense, there aren’t a whole lot of enemies that have high to-hit, and they’re easy first targets. The exception being Nemesis Lts, which cast Vengeance on death. If stacked, this can cause problems. Inv (or any other set that I can think of) can get to 100% resistance to all without the t9, but honestly, you’re probably overthinking this. A solid tank doesn’t need 100% resistance to all, yes you will take damage and suffer from resistance debuffs, but it’s not a big deal. Food for thought: my Bio/EM tank has no DDR other than what Ageless Radial provides and has medium resistance levels to everything but S/L (which sits right at about 90%). I solo him at +2x8. I could go higher, but +2 is better for speed. He has 5 “panic” buttons, when I was playing him this evening (against Malta, no less) I didn’t use one of them in the 4 or 5 missions that I played. As for the Resistance vs Defense debate: most players (and the current meta) will tell you that defense is better than resistance. Basically, there aren;t that many auto-hit defense debuffs that you face in the late game. A pure resistance build (against +0s) will get hit 50% of the time. So any debuffs that are thrown at it have a pretty good chance of hitting. A soft-capped defense build means you;re only getting hit by an attack (and therefore a debuff) one in 20 times (5%). The original thinking of the devs on Live was that Resistance is better than Defense, so you’re not entirely wrong.
  12. The way to prevent this bug is to rearrange powers. Even just moving 1 power into a different slot prevents this from happening, which leads me to believe the bug lies in how the tray it's auto populated and why it only appears on level 1s.
  13. If you renamed the playerslot file, then a new one should have been generated. I'd suggest opening that file with a text editor then doing a find (usually Ctrl+F) and search the character in that, that will tell you which slot they are in (slot 0-9 is the first page, etc)
  14. what Numu said, but also, this mission can be kind of hard to find him once you are in it. There is a secret passageway in the last room of his mansion that you'll have to find to get to him.
  15. My first offender (and first 50 on live) was Empathy/energy... Part of Repeat Offenders "Green Machine" super group. Also, dark can rez more than 1 at a time.
  16. SR gets 95% defense debuff resistance, which is the cap for tankers, cascading defense debuff is not a huge worry.
  17. Yes, that includes scourge, Mids does as well, which makes things equally confusing.
  18. The healing proc on electric melee is something I'm trying out myself with shield as a primary. Mine's only level 30 but I've got the proc in every attack that will take it. If nothing else, it's amusing. Of the 4 sets, on SOs/common IOs only, I'd probably pick Stone or SR. SR can soft cap to melee/ranged/AoE defense with just common IOs and weave. Stone is a bit more of a mixed bag, but if you start to go down, you can just hit granite armor to keep yourself standing.
  19. Have you downloaded Mids Reborn? www.midsreborn.com That will let you open then builds. As for the whole "smash through things quickly, but still survive", I'd probably suggest Bio armor/fire melee. Bio has adaptations that let you be more offensive or defensive, but once you have a solid build done, you can just stay in offensive and just go to town. Fire melee has 2 PBAoE attacks and a cone, its secondary effect is literally "do more damage" Alternatively you could go Shield Defense/Electric Melee. Shield is not quite as forgiving as Bio, but it's still a really strong defense set, and Against All Odds increases your damage for each enemy in range. electric melee has a lot of AoE potential as well
  20. How's endurance on that, @Carnifax? Ice tends to be end heavy with just arctic air, so I can't imagine running enflame as well!
  21. Ice control *is* good, it's just that like most control sets, it suffers from low damage. How to speed it up: Take a secondary with a good -resistance power or two Take arcane bolt, with containment it can do triple damage when the arcane boost is up. Alternatively, Go dominator, their secondary set is all about damage. If you care about theme, ice assault is actually one of the better Dom secondaries.
  22. I could see dropping it to level 5 (since you can't run missions in ouro that are in your level range) Of course, standard code rant applies.
  23. I'm not against badges having names that correlate to origin, but tying specific powers to origin is something I'm against. That would mean that certain origins would be better than other origins. Suddenly if you picked the "wrong" origin at start, you might have to re-roll a character just to fix that.
  24. If you installed to the default location, you should be able to find a folder in C:\Games\CoH Homecoming I'm doing this from memory, it might just be C:\Games\Homecoming Anyway, in that folder there should be a file you can create a shortcut from
  25. Kin and Storm are two very different sets and bring different things to the table. Kin is very team friendly, that's not to say it can't solo, but your team will want you for Speed Boost alone. Storm is all about controlled chaos. It is more of a damaging set later in the game. It is also a little bit heavier on endurance than other sets. As for primary, does anything stick out to you as sounding fun? There aren't really any bad sets, so my suggestion is to pick something that sounds fun and enjoy yourself.
