  1. I can build a Dark/Invul Brute or Invul/Dark Tank to ride out the crash. This involves a high Recharge build and very conscious management of Dull Pain and Dark Consumption as well as inspirations. However, as pointed out by builders much better than me…. It is not worth it. Even though my non Unstoppable build is extremely close to my Unstoppable build the benefits of adding Unstoppable (there are truly few times Invulnerability will benefit from this power) versus adding any other power (always in short supply of another power pick) do not make good sense. Sigh, and I do love tier 9 uber powers. Anyways, good luck

  6. By PUGs... Well...lol...where do i begin. Pretty much it's a cattle call. Oklahoman is indeed one of the handful of people I can name that have running PUGs down to a science. But in the end...it is still a cattle call. "Connected..." Not talking the Mafia here. But it does involve knowing somebody that knows somebody. You are part of a loose (or tight) group of regulars in a super Group or TF Chat channel that always seen to run together. (bigger SGs tend to break down by time zone/preferred activity/similar sense of humor/etc) I have PUGged a LOT in my mostly CoH/V MMORPG experiences. A LOT. In the last year I have found Cosmic Council on Excelsior to be an excellent source of quality people to game and hang with. And badge. Danged, do they badge lol. badges are easier with a coordinated group, preferably on Discord or something similar. Yes, you can PUG badge. It is just way easier when you are dialed in as a real team. certain badges are difficult to get because ANYBODY on the league/team that screws up ruins it for everyone. "Avoids the Green" Keyes. Sigh. Other badges require very strict coordination. "Bunker Buster" again, keyes. Although killing AVs at same time in certain specific spots is a pain too. Others, just try enough times and you will get, if you PUG enough. Trust me I know lol. Even the badge for weapon caches and containment chambers in Lambda will drop organically sooner or later as long as League does both sides. Sooner or later it just happens. i have found the longer and more complicated a TF/Trial the less likely it is to find qualified people just willing to "wing it." If they want the badge they tend to organize in advance rather than leave their time investment/reward return up to chance.
  7. Even with the badges gated behind "near easy" mode 2nd tier I doubt you will see smart gamers PUGging this for badges. I saw an ad today for PUG exterme mode, but that is just a badgeless madhouse challenge. Dedicated badgers (in this game especially) are methodical, and tend to be well connected. Since a few weak links on a team (or just one!) can screw a badge there is a tendency to roll with "your crew" only. my 2 inf....
  8. I think Dark/Dark is strangely the most balanced of all Brutes. To make a long explanation short: Nothing sees you until you melee it. When you melee it you debuff it’s accuracy. You have very good resists and the best heal in the game. You have good AoE including crowd control. You have very good ST damage. Is it the strongest? At anything? Prob not. But very good at everything? Pretty much!

  11. The gold missions are listed by level. They are generally the last 16-20 arcs in the first three groups of content. There are badges associated with them, including one badge for doing absolutely all of them

  14. I am back on a Dark/Invul Brute. Part of this is I love the archetype. Brutes are my thing. Part of it is I lo e Invulnerability. Part of it is I love the undead Dark theme What brings me to this character, keeps me coming back to this character, is I love the concept of the character and the way I am able to realize that concept in CoH/V. This game is truly alone in letting players define who they are in an online world
  15. Theft of Essence is NOT mediocre. When I first found it I was astounded Since then I have made a few other astounding discoveries about how to make Dark Armor work. Especially at high levels this is just a clunky cram onto my personal build. It is still good, I just cannot find a smooth way to integrate it. And I have those other solutions. I do still find myself using it on levelling builds
  16. indeed. i mentally make that change anytime i hear pylon. i fight pylons during a msr....hardly counts. we really have two different games in PvE either large groups of trash sprinkled with bosses or super hard targets with giant health sacks. i read all forum posts with an eye to how it will affect either of those environments. I do not PvP and I dont pound Pylons like they owe me money.
  17. Nice. I get by with a 4pt Botz 4 pt in fly for my Dark Armor Brute. Never have a problem with Knockback. seriously. never. I mean if i face BaB then yeah, I might get launched. But it is so rare to have KB issues I cannot recall it happening. Good to know 3 is same as 4. But I dont feel like the slot in fly is a 'tax' what else would go there. stealth proc goes in inherent sprint if ever needed... Could slap a winter gift slow res in there....but sort of the same deal. armoring up against the rare things.
  18. I am running every contact red/blue/gold right now on a single character. I have done this pure redside a few times over the years. As has been said upthread, yes and no. There are story arcs, plotlines, things to be discovered. There are themes and over acrching plots that tie things together. And break things apart. While not as complex as the 'real' world there is enough volume and depth for CoH/V to beyond any one culture or plotline. Or many. Each Event, Zone, Story Arc and contact is it's own thing, and usually borrowing and expending on other Events, Zones, Story Arcs and contacts.
  19. lol. no. i was told long ago back on live that 3 or less Kb prot is meh, 4 is good. 4-7 is about the same. 8 is slightly better than 4. 8-11 is practically the same. 12 is better yet. No. i do not have the data.
  20. devils advocate 3 pts of KB prot is meh. 4 is good, 3 just aint. -res is great. if you use a commonly resisted damage type. or fight AVs a lot. otherwise.... the slot might be better used chasing 'real' set bonuses.
  21. Ah, this was my misunderstanding. Thank you. As a lazy PUG specialist I have only done one run on Beta. yeesh. just, yeesh. very cool, very overwhelming. Since there are no badges gated to the hardest settings a PUG, in theory at least, should be able to bumble through on a good run and get some badges, adding multiple runs until you get a master badge. fair enough. the hard hard super hard challenges reward cash and prizes for the hard core maniacs. Which....honestly I doubt I will ever run on. I have in game wealth and absolutely HATE things like the AE 801 arcs. I am a super villain not a chew toy. I still feel this would be better served up as two installments, Apex/Tin Mage style. But, as long as all badges are available (abd relatively achievable) without insane settings my objections are respectfully withdrawn. Quality work. Seriously. And on closer inspection at the badge/reward/difficulty sliders wisely done as well.
  22. No, i get it. If there were no badges for the insanely difficult way I would withdraw my complaint. Give more rewards. whatever. But a badge? EVERYONE deserves a chance at the badge. But the badge is gated behind knowing 7 people who are very good and have two hours to kill. Anybody else see an issue with this? No? Then you know 7 strong players with two hours to kill. PUG players are screwed here. The badge is out of reach. Split into 3 and award the badge for completion of all 3 parts. PUGging it would be tough, but doable, after a few misses and various teams. But all one run? Will rarely happen at best.

  24. My non tanky reg Brute Dark Dark has 56% energy and 51% toxic resist. not perfect but ....usually...enough to let me get that big heal to fire. There are some hallways it will not save you in, granted.
