You have to play Redside. Report to Mercy Isle for processing. Move along.

We have a new person in our SG. I am not social but they did not seem crazy or dumb. We ended up chatting as they asked the beginner questions of CoH and they listened and asked creative questions to my responses They were respeccing madly even as we discussed the intricacies of CoH. Lamenting buying attuned purples. All the standard stuff. I ended up dropping 200 mil on them. Then the next day ran their 50 through a out 2 hours of AE to PL some vet levels ( where i made a good chunk of that 200 back 🙂 ) They are clever and engaged and running Incarnate trials with our SG and we ran Posi 1/2 today to start their badging I do not feel i have “ruined their authentic CoH experience. I think i have given them a ladder so they can step up to where we are all just standing around.

Anyone managed to beat AV Doc. Vaz. solo without...
Snarky replied to gronbek's topic in General Discussion
But can anyone solo him using no inspirations, no temps, no P2W, no powers, while standing on their head and whistling "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull. -
I complain (loudly) about the bad ones. It is cathartic and hopefully instructive. I never quit or kick. Okay, if someone was starting to get verbally abusive, you got to kick. If someone is deliberately screwing a badge run (or wont stop when instructed) you probably got to kick. Someone is running off to kill mobs.....yeah, I am not seeing it. Someone sets the difficulty to high and will not listen to reason. I got to see how this train wreck plays out. Do the freight cars actually stand on end like in Hancock?
-
You kick peeps from TFs. Then immediately complain about elitism. does your head threaten to explode?

Synapse “speed run”. The thing gas mostly kill alls and a couple “kill most” to accomplish the goals. Oh no, some Blaster is killing a bunch of stuff. Somebody stop him the defender did not get to shoot it with anything yet.

LFG: Going for spider badge come to Ouro pst Me, Ouro portal, load to Ouro. Private tell: LF Spider badge. Long minute passes. Team Leader: "Come to Ouro" Me: "in Ouro" I check all my setting. Yep, still Rogue. Not queued for anything. Last thing I did was a ITF, successfully completed. Ouro is deserted. Team leader flies up. Team Leader: "Still wont let me invite you" Me: "Sigh. No worries GL" Not the first, only, or last time this crap happens. Is there anything I can do to make it better? Or is it just some crazy ass bug like Crab backpack showing up on all my characters or my team teleport button being greyed out until I pull power down and manually check I bought it....???

redside Why is it so hard for me to play Red Side?
Snarky replied to Dusty Longshot's topic in General Discussion
so.... i don't really need to construct a kill room then? -
This is it exactly. The Khan I joined and ranted about earlier was NOT advertised as a +4. I did not realize it until we loaded in. I asked for it not to be +4 but the leader said "they looked at team composition" and decided we could handle it. I still kind of wish I could take him to Port Oakes docks for a long walk.
-
I wasnt kidding about the Khan either. We just ran one in under 20 minutes, semi-PUG team. The idiots who run them at +4 take more than that time on the final fight. exact SAME rewards.
-
and this is one of the reason WoW is 2nd tier gaming for me.

All my Brutes can handle 4/8. any I/O Brute should be able to. My "squishiest" Brute is my Farmer. I have a farm build for him, on fire farms, that is insanely good. Not my build, so I just use what others discovered. I have a Task Force build for him that is more reasonably balanced. For incarnating, getting accolades etc. Even with Fire Armor not being the sturdiest he is a beast. That is my build, and I have run Tanky Brutes a long time. But I do not want to run 4/8 with him except for farming. Outside a farm I want merits/badges/incarnate pieces. Most 4/8 is a waste of time, literally wasting my life for no reason. I have seen people run Khan TF at +4. Why? Why the F would you do that? So you can rub yourself and think about how much time you wasted for 7 other people? Instead of burning the final room in under 5 minutes you made them suffer 20-30. If only you could go out and stop traffic on the freeway for an hour your life might be complete. Pant pant. Okay, I'm done. Off soapbox.

Since i do not use mine for DPS as much i mule it for ranged defense and enjoy the hold. I have a decent ST chain and AoE work mostly

If you start a redside strike force on Excelsior it will fill. Not as fast as a Blueside, but with a little diligence it comes together. I can fill a redside DFB on Excelsior. It is painful a bit, but it is doable.

I do hours of work each week to keep myself in about a half billion in liquid Inf, which I usually blow on a new alt or super packs. But the point is I spend a LOT of time farming, crafting, converting to make the cash. I have yet to find the magical "spigot" that pours out treasure in the game. The closest I have come is farming, which is tedious. I can use my alt account farmer to PL my main account crazy new AT build idea to 50 in a few hours. Then use all that stored cash/enhancers to I/O the new toon. Then I do run the toon. To test, see what I like. But It was not like someone gave me the character. I have to farm. craft convert sell, conceptualize farm the alt, spend time devising an i/o build, respec, slot, tweak, then drop 50 mil in for must have travel powers at P2W. Then...the character is "ready" to go. It is fast. Faster than on live. But I cannot whip one out in less than a hard day, and it usually takes two. Add incarnating (if I like what is happening) and we are talking 3-7 days on the character before it is "complete" from idea in my head to 50 I/O w/ incarnates and a few accolades.

Was doing a Sara Moore last night on my Dark Dark. He also uses two holds. I could fast snipe a fake nemesis (not triggerring bubble but softening them up) then apply two holds. Now the thing is powerless. Then I burned it the rest of the way down. A teammate saw me do this and was like WTF? You can do that? O, yeah, you can do that. I use this same tactic for Paragon Protectors. Works like a charm.

Set up a Redside SG. Recruit people. (to specifically run villain content.) set up discord. Host regular run times and weekly SF target runs. Be the solution.
-
I started with Good vs Evil boxed edition. So the game had been out 2 years I think. I was Redside a long long time before sliding over to Blue for more activity. About 6 months Red on Liberty, 1 year+ on Freedumb, then on tto Virtue and mixed Red/Blue. Lot of Blue TF there with Brickhouse channel. Until shutdown....sigh.

What do you define old schoolers as? People who have been playing since Beta? People who only use SOs? People who run story arcs? Narrow this down you might get an answer.

One of my still favorite activities are PUG. Errr pick up group task forces. This (to me) is about the most accessible game content i can think of. And i will do it with anyone so, the way i team, i think is not shutting out brand new players at all. In fact i get irritated if someone tries to run almost any task force except imperious at anything besides +0/x1

What about a cheesy +stealth in inherent Run power. Would that do the trick?
-
it may be that simple. It may be more complex. The council is one of the rarer enemy types in that they have factions. Could each faction drop different stuff?
