I seriously hope these ideas are going someplace beside the dust bin lol A "generic" very large robot head. / armored head. Think the robot from Disney's Black Hole. Or simlar to The Juggernauts bullet helmet. Just a very large blob with minimal adornments. Maybe a round one and a cone one for some variety. And if really feeling like being special a few different visor and voicebox possibilities. Because, sometimes, more is just more. Also, if you upscale a regular large helmet (at all) the clipping really is noticeable. This way you can just plunk the thing down like "The Tank" brain in a jar and walk on any clipping.

Is there a simple explanation (lets say at 50 to make the comparison easy, I know Brutes Fury at low levels is very helpful) of the damage comparison of a Tank and A Brute? Brutes used to be definitely better. Heck, for a while on live Brutes were out damaging Scrappers. *shakes fist at nerf gods in the sky. But after the "Great Tanker Un-Nerfing" (tm) I am given to understand the damage is very similar. Is this true. There are so many reasons I did not post this in either the Tanker or Brute forums. Thanks for the feedback. Double Thanks for numbers!

Here is my SS/Willpower from a year ago. I don't currently have this build active. Shattered for parts. I do have a SS/Invul Brute and a Dark/Invul Brute, and a Dark/Dark main actually lol. I also have an Energy/Invul I am going to 50 sometime soon and complete, probably to leave up if it runs as good as I hope. Oh, and my Dark/Fire Farmer. Which is literally GOLD in farming, but a true pain in TFs. (just not enough enemies to keep him fed well lol) This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.0.4.7 https://github.com/Reborn-Team/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! It seriously depends on your powersets and build goals. We could start with some "generic good idea" like S/L def at 45% and a list of common Globals and procs that almost every good build tries to shoehorn on. There is actually a thread like that in general discussion right now. But lets get down to brass tacks.... When you build a Brute you do not build "a brute." You build a "Dark/Fire Farm Brute". or a "SS/Invul TF Monster" THose two will have EXTREMELY different needs and therefore, while maybe even sharing some same enhancement sets, might have those sets for different reasons even. Take my "SS/Invul Brute" and "Dark/Invul Brute" Both for Task Forces. Completely different. The SS has enough Recharge to keep Rage up 100% time. Not hard. The Dark has as much Recharge as I could cram on without seriously affecting other build goals. Because the Synergy of Dark Melee and Invulnerability just gets stronger the more Recharge you cram onto it. In my opinion, so thats how I built it. SS/WP will need enough recharge to keep Rage up 100%. After that it might benefit from more, but I would look at pumping other things based on your desires. Definitely throw on all the normal procs and globals. Here is an excerpt from the general discussion by Mashugana: How does this look for a general guide: Start with this and then see where the endurance, recharge, defense, and damage holes might be: Try to softcap S/L at 45% If ranged then try to softcap Ranged Defense at 45% Try to softcap Melee Defense at 45% If you have a lot of toggles then get +Recovery high Get Global Recharge low for long attacks to come up more often (look to IO set bonuses) Useful procs for all characters: Panacea Proc Miracle Proc Numina Proc Perf Shift Proc Perf Shift End Power Transfer End Power Transfer Health Glad Armor +3% Def Steadfast +3% Def Shield Wall +5% Reactive Def Scale Damage Resist 5 LotG if possible Did I miss any of your favorites like Blessing of Zepher or Karma? I also use the Kismet +6% Acc global whenever I can fit it in. Although with Rage that is not as important. but from this generic list you get 1 and 5 and the list of goodies and the rest does not fit well. So much for generic advice lol. I would look at ANY resists you can easily cram on. I love a Willpower Brute but those Alphas can be Brutal. And last, and I HATE to say this, but I think it is true. On a modern 50 Invul is just head and shoulders above Willpower (and I ran Willpower for over a year on live) Because of Incarnates and all the build techniques the Endurance difference is moot. The Healing is not needed as much, and that leaves Armor which Invulnerable does better. I do not want to tell someone just climbed up to 50 they might have chosen a different armor to get to the brass ring, but....it's kind of who I am. So I said it. Opinions do vary. Its just mine....and a few really good builders think that way too. I am a mediocre builder at best. But i do love Smashing things! Best of luck.

Here is my Dark/Fire Farmer. I LOVe Dark. I use it with both Invul and Dark armor on Brutes and Tanks. It was an easy choice for Farming. This is a quirky beast. All My Incarnate Powers are MORE DAMAGE So.....Where does my Endurance come from? It doesnt. It just goes away. Pretty darned quick too! Seriously though,, as I am sue you know both Fire and Dark have an Endurance Recovery PBAoE. This is a high recharge build. So....Just keep pumping up the blue balloon with holes in the bottom and everything will be fine! We're not supposed to talk about this. -
I've done that arc many times on various Brutes. Never had an issue. I mean, he is an AV. No pushover. I do not know MMs. Is there a way you can put them in bodyguard mode and summon some temp helpers from P2W, then start slinging envenomed daggers at him or something?

An Invulnerability Brute using SOs is insanely Tanky. One properly i/o'd is (in my opinion) Tankier than most Tanks.

And this is why I get "pigeon holed" into only wanting to build certain builds / sets. Because for certain AT/Build/Sets ALL the things just line up. Once you have experienced it you seek it out again, but...oooooh. It is rare. But when you find a build where every set just adds at every bonus you start to slaver and drool, and gibber on the floor.... um. I mean, it is good. You like that.
-
THis morning I missed the attached build! I just re read it. THis is the exact thing I was trying to create. Thanks Hyperstrike! Thats two of my 9 filled out builds I keep that are your design. Now i need to go shopping and respec!
-
If you looked closely you may see some familiarity. The build is yours Hyperstrike. Except you posted it on a request I made for a Brute. And I still have the thing unaltered. But I then just sort of reverse crammed it onto the Tank. Which is why things are a bit hinky. So then I tried to solve it....enough said.
-
My Farmer is like this. There is a built in solution. Which is why I bring it up. Every powerset and combination of powersets changes your build options and goals. My Farmer is a Dark/Fire Brute built for Damage and Recharge. This leaves it woefully short on Endurance. But both Dark and Fire have PBAoE Endurance recovery powers. And the build is high recharge. You just gotta keep pumping the thing up like a bagpipe!

What is the effect of a knockback enhancement in set with kb2kd proc?
Snarky replied to cohRock's topic in General Discussion
Okay this gets a little iffy for me. I am running a Super Strength Tank, In Footstomp. (.67 KB = knockdown) I crammed a full set of Superior Avalanche, which includes a "chance for Knockdown" which i assume means another .67. Long story short, sometimes the enemies squirt everywhere. -
Okay I swear the government is monitoring me. And evidently some programmer is concerned I'm going to shove a tower up their backside until a thousand dollars pops out of their face like a ATM. Because I just did the exact same steps a second time. And it installed. ...
-
I argued with it until it saved the file, then hit run, run anyways. Says i do not have permission. And i am the only user / admin on the damn thing. Sometimes I really wish I could shove the comp up a programmers ass and get my cash back.
-
Thank you. That is a whole evolutionary step (maybe 2) above what I slapped together.

So, some of it depends on your AT and build goals. Perma Dom and Perma Hasten are standard yet easy to screw up your thinking on if you are not algebraically inclined. Standard thinking, softcap Defense. "Softcap" means 45% defense. THis is the effective top defense in standard play. 200% Def is the same as 45% defense. so, softcap. (200 is better, if you get hit with -5% def you laugh. with 200 you can get hit with -155% and laugh. ) Incarnate "softcap" is....65% ? i think. (not much reason to chase it, Leagues are raining Defense auras and Incarnate shields on each other) Building a Tank (anything really but anything Tanky) Defense is greater than resistance is greater than heals. It gets deep fast because Resist based Tanks do not have defense debuff resist, so even if you softcap the defense something like Cimerora enemies just shred it. Can make it more complicated with Dark Armor, (A resist set) that uses two mezze auras and is semi stealthed. Build goals shift depending on playstyle and power picks. very deep very fast. Softcapping one area S/L is generally considered smart. S/L is part of "most" enemies attacks. and all attacks look at every aspect of the attack "ranged/AoE/melee/ S/l, Energy Fire" and chooses your highest Defense against it. I have Ranged Blasters who just use Ranged Defense. And I try to S/L softcap all my melee if at all possible.
-
I went in a slightly different direction with my Dark Tank. 90% resist, Except to toxic, that at 79% That with Cardiac Core, no other incarnate powers up. Pre incarnate is 89.2 s/l 90 energy 86 fire/cold Defenses are low to mid 20s across the board. The Tank is a side project because my main is a Dark/Dark Brute focused on Damage. And is pretty much unkillable. Once in a great while my Brute will need to heal. Not often. and the heal is always up....just sitting there Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.1.25 https://github.com/Crytilis/mids-reborn-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! MRB setup.exe was blocked because it could harm your device. after i followed instructions and tried to download the exe.msi (which appears the one i need because I have mids already?) but the next link also failed same text. My only option was feedback, which I said it was safe. No option to install anyways

I played a lot of Redside on live. Starting on Liberty. Then Freedumb. Then Virtue. Although I was TF mad on Virtue and spent a lot of time Blueside with Brickhouse crew. Liberty was dead. And we all sort of got to know each other. Back then a blind invite was a little like castaways trying to bind rafts together. "You want to do this? DONT YOU?...ppppplease?" lol maybe not that bad, but the feeling was always "cmon, we are all we got..." So, for me, the Redside vibe is always in the background. Now, Atlas Park Excelsior is Times Square in comparison. Which is why watching the traffic signals is important. No one is going to "invite" you everytime. Not everyone is following the rules all the time. Watch the crowds, the patterns. Adapt. Profit.
-
Blind invites are part of Atlas Park culture, at least on Excelsior. For now. It has to do with the caravan of Farmers and the endless parade of low level alts "lf farm" Many farmers send a tell in local, then broadcast, then lfg. Farm X spots available sitters okay. Others... I have been getting more random invites in Atlas. But I go to Atlas as a hub to socialize and I like teaming. Even on a 50 looking for specific TF if I get a farm invite I go. The cash is VERY good.

So, I tried to follow the instructions (after the half page of history and various other strangeness) But my comp say the file will destroy my computer and ruin my life. I told my comp it is safe. The comp is stubborn. So I am using old MiDs and winging it on Energy Melee I guess.
