Good Primaries for /Dark Armor or /Invuln Tanker
Snarky replied to StriderIV's topic in General Discussion
Danged. Now you got me wanting to roll a Invul/Dark Tank lol. I may do this and slow level it Blueside. I have never run much on Tanks and never soloed all Blueside.... WHAT COULD GO WRONG? -
i tend to ignore people like that without needing to "ignore" them. my job is driving a semi in heavy city traffic. i can cuss a bit to myself about the peeps being stupid, but i am ill advised to react. and people will be stupid. sometimes i point it out with a Snarky aside (pat pend) if i am busy having fun i just move on, unless they are actively spreading misinformation that might grief someone needing help. but sure, tell me i said it wrong or that i tipo'd ti lal scewry. okay. your prob right.

Good Primaries for /Dark Armor or /Invuln Tanker
Snarky replied to StriderIV's topic in General Discussion
It is a great pairing on either. If you want to Tank you can do it on the Brute exceptionally easily on anything besides Psychic damage Incarnate Trials. Be sure and take Taunt. If you want to to it on the Tank it will be even tougher. Which is just insane, because, it is already at 11 on a scalar of 1-10 as a Brute. -
Good Primaries for /Dark Armor or /Invuln Tanker
Snarky replied to StriderIV's topic in General Discussion
I would suggest Invulnerability / Dark Melee. The synergy the two sets share is incredible. Throw some recharge on top of it and the build becomes insanely tough. Personally I would not use Dark Armor on a Tank. i am maining a Dark/Dark/Soul Brute. The stealth toggle alone is a reason not to Tank with this Armor. Solo, sure, Tank no. Not in my opinion. Other than that Dark Armor is insanely powerful. One of the reasons is it hides though. Instead of Defense/Resist/Heal Dark armor says Stealth/Fear/Stun/resist/Best heal in the game. and ps., Acc Debuffs. Invulnerabilty Dark will give you a small combat heal to supllement Invul's giant heal/health boost. It debuffs Acc to aid in layered Defenses. It is really a beautiful pairing. I have used it on a Brute I have mained last year when I first got back to Homecoming. Good times. -
I have for a long time tried to create a truly ranged character that works. I may have failed again lol. But I am still trying. I thank everyone who put together the guides here. I particularly used the Ice and invul analysis in the thread on the first page. In combining the two I may have missed a lot. Pretty sure I did. I think I have semi gimped my build chasing S/L def at 45%. Mids says i have it, in game says a little over 40%. Invul on Sentinels does not require 1 foe in range does it? Anyways, I raided my base for most of the rest of my good enhancers and slammed this together. Please offer any advice. I do appreciate. I worry about the mental health of Paragons civilian population
Snarky replied to Ejlertson's topic in General Discussion
I was in a farm last night getting PL'd on a new Sentinel (wish me luck, hard turn from Bruting) got 1-41 in a couple hours. while I'm sitting there bored out of my skull I comment to one of the other door sitters. "This is what the average Paragon City citizen deals with everyday. Standing around watching mobs chase super and battling it out on the streets." Maybe Shalice can set up some sort of mental health support system for Paragon? -
Brute Electric Melee power poll part 1 (level 1 - 12)
Snarky replied to wjrasmussen's topic in Brute
i ran an elec elec scrapper once. i never run scrappers. i forget the research (this was on live) but there was a significant reason why Elec is better on a Scrapper than a Brute. Since i prefer Brutes (that was my only 50 scrap) i know the reason was important. just wish i could remember what it was lol -
I run a Dark Armor Brute. I recently tanked the Minds of Mayhem Trial with him. Dark has no -kb and i use one i/o for 4 pts protection. Then again, there is zero KB in that trial. Or most of the game. Read that last sentence again. 4pts prot is roughly equal to 8 pts prot 99% time you need kb prot. After that you need 10-12 + to make any difference. I recently got pinballed pretty hard in a hami raid. flying and trying to melee yellows. 4pts KB protection is good 99.9% of all encounters. THen again, Invul Armor is the toughest thing in the game....until a psychic boils your brain pan. Which is rare, but when it happens. Sheesh. So, what are your build goals, and what do you want to sacrifice to get there? I like 4pts. I like Invul better, but I am maining Dark right now. So, 4 pls

I play a LOT of Brutes. I never take a t1. I used to play Invulnerability non stop (still looking at a ice/Invul Sentinel build from Hyperstrike-might happen) T9 is traditionally not taken on Invulnerability. Hyperstrike calls it delayed suicide or something. However, I followed another great builder from games past (forget name) but he ran a Dark/Invul Brute that he swore was the bomb. I diligently chased after the parts and got one. It was the Bomb. Super high recharge. THe build was insanely powerful. And had the T9. And it worked. Because the recharges were so high you could cycle through your buffs fast after the crash and be back to full in 2 powers. I was in a Reichsman TF I remember back on live. Pre incarnate days. The team wiped. I tanked Reichsman and the endless spawns. The team all traipsed back from the hospital. I was still in there having cycled through 2-3 T9 crashes. It was epic. Having made you read all that....do not take T9 on Invulnerable. It was a ghetto incarnate power a builder made work using one strange mechanic. It is a delayed suicide button.

i actually liked it for a week or so "ghosting" missions. i just wish i could make a ghost/ghast upper bosy and smoke lower body. so many possibilities
-
I think my character must be about as evil as one of Those CoT floating spectres. Once you get debuffed by them you are toast. Only I also have a stun and fear aura going lol. It is an evil playstyle. I started him as a zombie, then morphed into a ghost, then as Dark Armor took over just a ball of blech on the screen. Then I invested in a full backstory. Now a Brain in a jar on a giant robot body sustained by dark magic and the strange powers of extra temporal beings. With no / minimal special effects. Still just as evil though
-
hmmmm, are you still writing? sheesh. i dont know. i rad the first few sentences....then... lol, no seriously. you have a decent post. i am prob specifically not one of the people you are thanking. still i am also glad to be a part of the City of Villains world
-
yeah, i am starting to "feel" that. i am an invulnerable brute addict, and i use Hyperstrikes bulletproof builds for that. Now i am on a Dark, my top Def is a melee 32%. But i am semi-stealthed. i have a confuse aura and a fear aura. and every one of my attacks (dark/dark) is -tohit debuffs. i can get pasted. but it is darned rare. i built up my resists and have one of the best heals in the game, so rarely do i fall. It is a shockingly tough design after being cultured to 45% softcap+more in incarnate. and no def debuff protection. i can solo the itf altar scene on +4 and rarely experience difficulty.
-
since my Dark/Dark Brute has Soul Drain up near Perma (36.5 rech on a 30 sec buff) i am mostly fueling that . at +6 to-hit (kismet) and +70 accuracy it seems i am doing okay. Since Soul Drain adds +to-hit i think i can safely move on to solving other prob imaginary problems with this toon. but the To-hit brute will happen. maybe a Energy/Willpower
-

After re-looking at this I want the accuracy power from Energy Mastery back lol. But I cannot fit it on this toon. I will experiment with a Brute using Energy Mastery Focused Accuracy, leadeership Tactics and Kismet. Should be a fun way to abuse to-hit lol. Just need the right concept. Alt Again!

yes
-
only use empyreans for VR or Rare. period. my opinion of course. ONLY VR OR RARE. All else falls naturally into place by running the 50, threads make commons, generally you get overloaded in uncommons and can downgrade those to commons toward end of T3-T4 work
-
yes this is what i needed thanks.
-
Okay. So adding to-hit, like a Kismet Global is a 1 to 1. Adding accuracy is a 1 to .75. is that steady or is there diminishing returns?
-
Can someone go over the analysis of the to-hit and accuracy mechanics? Whatever part of my brain was storing that found something better to do. No doubt cat memes.

By and large this is a friendly group as you will find in an MMORPG. Beyond that most people who say they are going to "attempt X" It is already in the bag. These folks tend to know their stuff. The camaraderie of good players who get stuff done is a heady mix. And yes, generous. The last is a tribute to the current Devs as much as the player base. THe Dev team has made tweaks to the AH and smoothed a lot of the time/reward hiccups. A good player can farm or market or w/e they like and end up rolling in extra bank pretty fast. High End enhancers flow like water. Unless you are popping a new 50 every week you want to purple you will not be short of hundreds of millions once you get the hang of it.

i can see that being a beautiful thing on a stalker. blink, right next to target. I have been maining a dark/dark Brute since late October. I have Mystic Flight w/ the ghetto TP built in. It is really good. I can stealth glowie missions. I also find as I get better with it ingenious ways to get past knots of traffic jams that I could just waltz through, but physically cannot. Porting right onto an Orange Bagel portal door is another sweet time saver. Porting into the downward tunnels in the become an incarnate kill Trapdoor. I cannot fall into those easily. But port? Done. I do not have room on my Brute for the TP Travel set. But I have another Dom in my future...and there is no doubt that will happen.

Yes, you want your main attacks slotted for damage, pretty much until diminishing returns set in. I ran SS Brutes for years. generally even at low levels I had one acc and 2 damage SOs, 3 Dam SOs as soon as I could fit. Good sets let you have more flexibility there. But yes my Brute compatriot. Enhance your Damage. Enjoy the Smash
