Forming Teams :: is it too scary to lead/recuit?
Snarky replied to UltraAlt's topic in General Discussion
There were two LGTFs recruiting last night at the same time. One ad was "Speed LGTF forming" the other "LGTF forming in RWZ" I joined the second. A 50 was leading, so no star passing. I said "Heyas", and asked "Is this Speed?..or...?" No response. No problemo, I already kind of got the read. Turns out I was correct. We killed most on the way to the targets and mission objectives. I was on my Brute. I took off from the group to the next fresh mob every chance I got, never farther than a room away. The team had no heals so I ran Rebirth Core, always making sure to get back into the middle of the pack and hit it whenever it was up. The team was not killing as fast as my SG (Thankfully, those peeps leave me sprinting more than killing half time!) but they were doing okay. We had a alien killing spree from door one to the end battle. It was a hoot. This is another reason I do not lead teams. There are teams available. Doing what I am interested in doing. That would be okay with me on the team. That I can help. That I do not have to recruit, corral, be ignored by, or solve problems for. I can just join a team and Brute! This is what I do to relax after all.... -
Yomo's Whizbang Potpourri Extravaganza of a Giveaway!

You have inspired me. First, thank you for helping the community. Second, every day or so I see someone posting in help "Where do I buy enhancers" or "I used to play on live, and I just found out Homecoming is running CoH!" I take a couple minutes to track down the poster and slap 20 mil on them. It is not organized like you are doing (I do not have that kind of cash, nor the desire to be that organized) but I have LOT of fun with it. My guess is 6,23 Billion edited! (and edited again) -

Thank you. Love some Redside teams. -
Forming Teams :: is it too scary to lead/recuit?
Snarky replied to UltraAlt's topic in General Discussion
I would be tempted to join the TF. I wouldn't. I don't want to troll the poor souls that were just trying to join a TF. But it would be so tempting to join and then just start doing the oddest things I could think of. riding elevators up and down. agroing mobs then running madly to the end of the mission all the while asking "what do i do?" So many ideas.... -
Forming Teams :: is it too scary to lead/recuit?
Snarky replied to UltraAlt's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, this paragraph really starts to bring clarity to why I avoid leading. Even attempting to explain logic and common sense here will start with crayons. I can somewhat handle it on the boards where I can think about my replies. In game? It is like being on a freeway doing 60 and someone cuts you off "because you werent driving right" Passing the star to the person who is high enough level so everyone gets max powers for the TF is SOP (this means standard operating procedure) It is NOT team stealing. If the 50 wanted a team, trust me, they could get a team. I reluctantly take the star in such situations. Before recent changes it used to mean more work as well, when the TF leader had to do a lot of running around in some TFs. But you will no doubt take my attempts at common sense and standard play as a personal attack and referendum on possible hygiene issues. It is not. This is why I avoid leading. The misconceptions and drama are not worth the pay (nothing) -

too annoying -
There is no order. Time is not a constant but instead is an illusion that so many desperately cling to in hopes of finding meaning. Look deeper into the moments and you will see that we repeat our lives endlessly, existing in someway outside of any discernable pattern.

Is there any way to make teams less boring?
Snarky replied to RogueWolf's topic in General Discussion
agree wholeheartedly with both previous posts. But I am getting older (still Snarky! just posted in Ouro "everyone, why dont you stand here right on the portal" - must have been 15 of them lol) But on teams i try to be polite. I wait a good 30 seconds after zoning and unless everyone is there I NEVER start racing through. (unless it was posted speed run) PUGs I assume someone will get their knickers in a wad so I just chill a moment. I will leave the team if it gets over militaristic. I have even been globally ignored (and hunted/trolled on the forums!) for not "sticking with the team" wtf, really? happened to me lol. I will range a bit, just my nature. If I see a squishy struggling I will make a note to stay close to them and try to take agro. I do know teamwork. But, c'mon, most of us are corvettes around a go cart course. -

Snarky replied to RogueWolf's topic in General Discussion
A 'guilty' pleasure of mine is Synapse TF at +0. I love taking a new alt and seeing how they perform in that. down from the 1:30 avg when HC started up thanks to things like TT. Still, an hour or so of 'enforced' teamwork is good for the soul of the game....in my opinion. -
This happened to me when I was rolling through characters when I first found CoH was back as Homecoming. I quickly made a SS/Invul main, using a Hyperstrike build. But I could not stop alting. One day a player and i got discussing our alts. I was talking up various ones. THey wanted to see my Dark/Dark Brute in action. I loaded up a farm and in we went. Honestly, I was more impressed than they were. I knew it was good. But the more I looked at it from the "fresh perspective" of what I was showing the more impressed I became. Dark has no inherent defense. It has no defense debuff resistance. It has EVERYTHING else. It has stealth. It has a damage aura. It has two mezze auras. It has resists that get very solid with i/o and perhaps benefit the most from things like Hybrid Melee and Rune of Protection (or even an orange) by hitting caps across the board (except toxic, mine sits at around 50% cold. and sigh, my Energy is only about 55% w/o boosts. Cannot have everything I suppose) It has one of the best heals in the game. It synergizes with dark/dark so well it is insane. Hand in glove. Dark Melee's Soul Drain is a 30 sec buff that is one of the longest in the game. With high recharge it is near perma. The thing is a murder machine. Not the fastest killer in the game, I have a SS/Fire that is stupid fast. But try stealthing to a target with Fire Armor (I dont even turn off my damage aura when stealthing with Dark, I am gone before they react to any hits....when I get to my target area I hit Soul Drain and start the party)

giggling madly. roflmao. no, wait, let me catch my breath. nope, here it comes again roflmao. *a few minutes later so.... Yoou would change Brutes because you do not like the evolution of ROFLSTOMP leapfrog tactics and prefer the staid, orderly, Tank, Taunt, Gather, Kill. AND people that thrive and enjoy cannonballing mobs and ROFLSTOMP tactics are 'bad' players? Oh gawd, here it comes again. rofl. o no, roflmao

I just created an alt account so I could self farm alts on my main. I went with SS/Fire. I am using the build you posted above Hyperstrike. Thanks. I actually will not be doing "much' farming on the character. I plan to get busy with incarnate trials and accolades. Then it will probably randomly sit for long periods until needed. They definitely put out a metric crapton of damage.

Is there any way to make teams less boring?
Snarky replied to RogueWolf's topic in General Discussion
Last night we started boiling my main, Dark/Dark Brute Snarky, in lava again. He is at 40% of the last damage taken badge and will need to cook about 2-3 more days. So I jumped on the alt account I set up the last time we boiled him 2 days. Making a farmer on it for levelling alts. At level 43. This is on an older rig, with a smaller screen, and does not have my two gaming mice (mouse, + 20 hot key bad) So...I was even clumsier than I usually am. I jumped on my SS/Fire Brute wondering...then...Hey! a Tarikoss Weekly... Sure! Folks, this was NOT a smooth run. Nobody had TT, nobody knew objectives. This was huddle together and kill in a giant swath until we find w/e we are supposed to be doing. There was one other teammate that knew the objectives. My Fire armor does not allow me the freedom of Dark armor. Dark has stealth. I can zip to objectives. Fire....holy crap. I built the guy to take the pain, but he just forms a ball of wasps all trying to kill him anywhere he goes. Funny, I enjoyed it, useless (or nearly) for helping zip to team objectives. We were around 50 minutes to complete. I actually had a good time once I quickly realized that it was not going to be a pro run, or semi pro. or college. or...you get the idea. A similar thing happened on a LGTF I joined with my main earlier in the day But I knew from the add +0 LGTF. Not speed LGTF, +0 the ad said, need melee. I knew when I saw it that it would be rough around the edges. Lol. it was, and it was fun. We knocked it down. semi-cleaning maps in some cases because the objectives were not known to the players. I had a blast. How do you 'make teams less boring?" Look for content you want to do WITH the players willing to do it. If you are not willing to run with a PUG team of people who have not played since live....DO NOT DO IT. Once on the team, HELP. When on a team of people better than you (which is usually my case, i belong to a nearly pro SG) make weird comments and soak in every tactic they are using. HAVE FUN -
A great place to look for global recharge discussions is the Dominator Forum. Perma Dom is a cornerstone of 99% of the builds there and requires a TON of global recharge. So searching that forum for recharge perma, perma-dom, etc should yield interesting conversations.

O! How I love geeks.
-
be aware of the law of 5, only 5 max of the exact same worded set bonus counts. LOTG looks similar to another. it is seperate, can have 5 of those. have fun
-
Mine is my main, been on since Oct, prob 80% time. 124 vet levels. Not worth a pic. you will see insane vet levels, usually among farmers. I do TFs, story Arcs and Badge. 1147 badges and just starting Ouroboros badges and all Hero badges! (Stay Red as long as you can....)

need a tutorial on how to use a lot of the "big" powers effectively. Do not immobilize mobs before the tank gathers them. Do not Fold Space Mobs away from DoT patches
-
We have had the Fold Space power for a little while now. How is it going? As a Dark/Dark Brute I do not have it. I have been the beneficiary when a practiced player puts all the mobs on my head and I can use Soul Drain and all my PBAoE to wreak havoc without having to work hard. I have activated Soul Drain in a sweet mob of 6-10 and watched them disappear before the animation and my next fat 30 second buff go to diddly squat. One question comes to mind, are mobs that are Held or Immob Folded? I am guessing yes? What are your experiences, gripes and praises? Have you discovered cool and interesting ways to use it?
-
you got a 56, a 29, a 39, a 48, a 25, a 79, a 57, a 39, and a 56
-
Here is the same build as my 1st above, except I have taken your advice to heart Oldskool. I have dropped Leadership Assault and Tactics. In their place I have taken Touch of Fear, and Leadership Manuevers. I moved a LOTG Global from Cloak of Darkness to Manuevers. With the added slot I put in Touch of Fear to two slot it the exact same as Cloak of Fear. Again, as much for the Energy Resistance as the Damage. I kept the two Soul Mastery AoE. the reason for this is Brute Force simple. I want the two six set bonuses from Ragnarok and Bombardment and there is no other way to get them, or anything close to them. Also, lacking taunt I use these as a huge part of my AoE chain to keep my enemies having constant fun. Is there any way to make teams less boring?
Snarky replied to RogueWolf's topic in General Discussion
Ask yourself, "What would Jack Burton do?" -
I am very grateful Oldskool. I read your analyses of various Sentinel sets with great interest. I am going to take an afternoon and think about things. I am nearly positive I will be adding in Touch of Fear and probably building a lot closer to your concepts than I was going with mine. Again, thanks for taking the time to look at this! I do not have Endurance issues except very rarely when exemplaring or against a TON (and I mean a TON of end drainers like DE), even Super Sappers do not bother me much unless exemplared low. For these cases I have the P2W Endurance cheat 🙂 I do run Cardiac. My stone cold Psi Res is 89.7 or thereabouts. My S/L is high 80s But i will be squeezing on ToF and prob moving the two slot from Cloak of Fear over to that. (It is there for the Energy Res as much as the proc. I am not a great builder but I try to always do at least 2 and preferably 3 things with each enhancer set placement

I recently made a minor change on my build for my main Dark/Dark. I am also looking at a major change which would be dropping the Sorcery pool (Arcane Bolt, Mystic Flight, Rune of Protection) and replacing with Fly, Leadership Assault, Leadership tactics. I find Defense meh on a Dark armor, going away just when you need it most. Therefore the Leadership Def toggle is iffy for me. Promoting damage and accuracy from anyone near me along with misc prot from weird status effects I think would be more useful. Also, continuing to pump accuracy to kick Soul Drain and my three "active toggles" (DoT, Fear, and Stun (Stun toggle has crap base accuracy)) I feel is more useful to survival and accomplishing my goals.
