So to make a very very long story short. OP, you should try for 500-700 DPS Blaster build. there is no way to effectively know you have this. Good luck, and thanks for playing. And that's Numberwang! Now let's rotate the board.

DoH!!!! THis is why I suck at science. I get lost in the details (math, i love) and miss the F-ing obvious. Thanks

THis 900 DPS build show Blazing Bolt doing 133.4 in my MiDs without aim/BU on. So.... I am lost in this wotld. But thanks for the build. I will tuck it away for a crazy project in the future.

I poked around Blaster forums looking for a PROC build. Gave up after delving through the first 9 pages or so. This is why I suck at science. My patience for this crap...sigh. But there is no way PROCs will increase DPS on my Ice Blaster from 100-125 DPS to 700 DPS. Seriously. No, seriously. So, either I am looking at MiDs wrong or I am doing something else horribly off kilter. I am in Mids, I go to View Options, click show DPS. and....not even in the ballpark of what is being discussed.

Hyperstrikes Invulnerability builds are bulletproof. i ran one of his SS/Invul Brutes for months when I discovered Homecoming. Good stuff.

I am not a science guy. I am actually good at math, my crazy logic notwithstanding. But applied stuff is boring to me past solving the equations. I have read, a bit, okay, quite a bit about characters attack chains and DPS. Without actually "doing the work" Basically you crank the global recharge than use the highest DPS attacks you got in a tight chain. But with my MiDs showing my highest DPS attacks on a fully kitted out Ice Blaster (just naturally occuring PROCS, but winterized and high end built) as 100-125 on big ST attacks I am not sure how any amount of recharge will take this to 500, much less 700-900. No amount of Recharge will increase DPS. It just brings those attacks up faster.
-
Okay....I know I am not good. This applies but is not limited to talent, alignment, and technical skills. However, my Mids DPS shows my Ice Blaster doing 100.2 Bitter Freeze Ray and 124.9 DPS Bitter Ice Blast. How, exactly, does a blaster push this attacks chain to 800-900 DPS. And Procs are not going to get 700 DPS, so do not try to sell me that horseshit.

The Blaster that i am looking to main on/off soon is an Ice/Temp/Ice. A slight amount of research will show this is one of the lowest Blaster damage builds, especially since i do not PROC monster it. Also, I kind of am not real good with it. Yet. But i play it because i enjoy what it does. It does damage, has an interesting secondary effect, I can write a story about the character that makes sense to me. I enjoy the combat style. I damage, from range, and sometimes do holds. If you want to chase pure damage numbers go Fire Blaster.

One of the (many) things I enjoy about NOT playing WoW is not seeing some 12 year old post team DPS rankings every few minutes. Play what you enjoy. Enjoy what you play. Does stuff die? Prob okay then.

I have tried recoloring some incarnate stuff (polar lights and storm elemental lores) and sadly it just recolors the activating cast. The danged things are just what they are and take it or leave it.

Brutes and Tanks (in my opinion) benefit greatly from Resist and Health based sets. SR....ain't that. As was stated above going with something that benefits more from the core power of the sets like Scrapper or Stalker would seem more effective. Having said that I have never ran SR and have only tinkered with claws. So, theoretical.

What's the best blaster for soloing past lv50 in your opinion?
Snarky replied to JORGE MARRTIN's topic in Blaster
I have an ice/temp/ice and Elec/Temp/Force that are both 50% ranged defense and all ranged. Basically a hover stalker. on an outdoor map it is a turkey shoot. in tunnelks more strategy is required, but barely. Both run serious fire support for outdoor +4/x8 farms (that dont have flyers) Just lethal to the mobs and strikes before tanks brutes grab agro wiping whole spawns except for EBs. From range. -
I did a redside mission where we gathered citizens up for live vivisections by Vahzilok minions. Does that count?
-
i dont farm and make gajillions, but i do alright. and the ability to snark about the cost....priceless
-
sometimes there is no "ahead of combat" as you know. You see the power pop up and you nudge your position slightly and activate. When you do that right as some....ahem wizard pulls everyone through a warp away from you.....feels a little disappointing

i buy 4 ultimate inspirations each week to use on Really Hard Way Magisterium trial. when (less now, i'm getting better at it) i get killed i bitch vociferously about the money Tyrant just cost me. popping an ultimate to do fold space on random mobs....well, have fun with that. i guess.
-
Absolutely not. Brutes Tank different than Tanks. Tanks "Tank" as a goal. Brutes "Tank" as a means to an end, gaining Fury and killing crap. there are rare occasions where you will facve a LOT of Psi damage. There will need to be another "Tank" for that. Or you can get creative with Melee Hybrid and Oranges. DO NOT try to create high Psi resist on an Invulnerability Brute. You will be trying to turn a Semi into a drag racer. You might get somewhere, but the damn thing will not be worth shit hauling loads cross country.
-
Where's four art though Rommie?
-
grrrr. I love that fold space is in the game. i am sure there are smart uses for it. trying to think of one. there must be. On my Brute and just popped Soul Drain and there is suddenly no one that my PBAoE hits to buff me. on my Blaster, Aim+Buildup + two AoE Loc rain DoT. Everybody is gone. They all got sucked over to the guy on the other side of the giant room. Uh-huh. Okay. I will just move on to the next floor. You guys got this.

Hard TFs, and +4s, and newer players. Oh crap
Snarky replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
going to be doing a Synapse sometime around 6-7 Pacific Thursday night. Did a Posi 1 just now. very dead. Caught the interest of two other Blasters (plus my Blaster) a Scrapper and a Widow. Set at +0. There were a couple deaths and it was not perfect. But...it was smooth. We worked as a team and we mauled whatever we agro'd. Right down to Doc Buzzsaw and the Shadow Squad. (one death there) Teamwork makes the dream work. Oh, and one of the team mentioned "they had not done a Posi in ages" Only instructions i gave was starting out "Work as a team, kill what you agro" and before last mission "NO ONE GO NEAR CITY HALL STEPS, Not even close" and it all worked fine. -
I have sort of moved on to Ice. There are numerous reasons for that. From my (admittedly unscientific) perspective Ice and Electric are real similar in damage. Ice has better ST (I believe...) and is one of the reasons I moved to it. Those AVs do not burn themselves down. Ice has a secondary effect! I enhance that with set bonuses and Incarnate choices! (And i am sure the hate will roll in for picking non optimal Incarnate powers...) Because while everyone says secondary effects are important (Elec is so screwed! Did you hear what they did to it? It has no secondary effect really...) as soon as you start building for them you are in cuckoo land. (Why would you even bother with secondary effect? Dont they know stuff should already be dead?) But i build a Super character. That includes a back story, power choices that make sense, and a theme. That locks me out of Ranged sets like Water Blast because my mind comes up with nothing. The set reminds me of "Wonder Twins power Activate...." Like, WTF, what do i do with this? Water, steam, er ice....hmmmm. There is a backstory there somewhere but you need to give me a second. Ah! A character was hit by a gamma explosion on the sinking titanic and absorded the ships steam powers and the icy chill of the North Atlantic! So, another undead then.... hmmmmm odd.
