  1. Update: High 30s now, working on buying my pieces, and I have to say this guy plays smoothly and not at a crazy frantic pace. 4-minute bubbles leave plenty of time to set things on fire (I have an Elec2 Def languishing at 40 cause the primary is so fast paced it's exhausting to play). Heat Loss is the shizzle - I definitely notice when it's expired. One thing I've noticed is that I don't use Aim much at all. Wondering, given team exclusivity & running Tactics, if Aim is really necessary. Replacement would likely be Assault or Afterburner. Gotta get more reps in before I pull the trigger on making that change.
  2. Some good points to consider there. I always forget about Hami-Os when I'm building - definitely worth looking at those when I get to 50. (Level 5 now so it's a long way off 🙂 ) I'll see what those changes do to the build. I appreciate your advice!
  3. Disclaimer: I don't play many squishies, but I'm working on it! Just started this new guy and, given the above, want to make sure I have a clear plan before I really get into it. I cobbled this build together from a few different posts. It hits Ranged/E/N softcaps, S/L rescap (and juuuust misses E rescap). Hasten is a couple seconds off perma without Alpha; Heat Loss & Benumb are a little further away but still close (close enough?). I'm concerned my end use and recovery are too close together & will be unsustainable. I am NOT overly concerned about damage (tho it's obviously there) as this will primarily be a teaming hero. Kinda guessed on Alpha with Agility Core - I'm not especially chasing procs, so it seemed like the best option. Open to arguments on others. (Note that I'm hitting those defense caps without it, and this Alpha pushes Hasten to perma status.) With that in mind, are there any questionable choices, major oversights, or more subtle optimizations that I've missed? Thanks in advance! 4. I've been powering through leveling my own Shield/EM, and I have to say it's a blast so far. My only 50 tank back on live was Inv/EM, and I didn't realize how much I missed the satisfying pom-pom sound til I started this guy up. Also holy poop does Combat Teleport make things awesome.
  5. Recently rolled up an Illusion/Poison/Experimentation (yes, heavily invested there) controller named Worst Decision Ever. He combined things he should not have combined. Once I hit 18 and picked up Phantom Army, I added a couple extra costumes and macros to change his appearance each time he casts PA, representing his vain attempts to reverse what he did. He takes his frustrations out on his decoys.
  6. Back with another one. And I'm sure I've seen this posted before, but can't find it anywhere. I have an Illusion troller with 3 costumes. The objective is to cast Phantom Army (which manifests based on his current costume), then change to a different costume. So far I have gotten the following to work, kinda sorta: /macro H cce 1 CCRapidBoil$$powexec_location target phantom army This results in a costume change, then PA matching his new costume appearing at the target. So both halves of the macro work, just not in the order I want them to. I tried flipping the commands (powexec_location target phantom army$$cce 1 CCRapidBoil) but this returned an error that it did not recognize the cce command. Help?
  7. I have this same colour combo -- and the belt too! -- on a Dark/Shield scrapper (dark melee coloured yellow - he's a sun-conduit statue).
  8. Just rolled this guy up: Canadian North, a Shield/Energy Melee Tanker (yeah, no cold or ice powers; gotta steer away from the stereotype once in a while eh?) I'm quite pleased with how the Alpha chest pattern flows into the Clockwork chest detail.
  9. Well, I'm not gonna call this a "best" costume by any means, but...
  10. Rad is solid. I have a couple Rad/x tanks, and x/Rad brute, and enjoy them all. I'll echo the sentiments regarding the proc nukes (definitely Ground Zero, possibly Rad Therapy depending on how much healing you find yourself needing) and the buffer that comes with perma Particle Shielding.
  11. I recently rolled a Psi/EnA (currently L28) and am enjoying the run so far. Psi is not the smoothest set (as in, the attacks don't have a nice flow to them) and the Insight mechanic is flaky, but it does the job. Leveling up I'm taking everything but Boggle and Overload, and will adjust power picks once slotting comes along. I find the single target performance respectable; AoE is sorely lacking at this point. Re: /Elec, its damage aura would be of benefit simply to help with AoE damage. On the topic of other secondaries, I also run a Psi/Fiery scrapper, and think that particular combination would be better on a brute (or tank) so mobs are taunted & actually stay in the burn patch. Burn + damage aura would likewise help there.
  12. Thanks all for the education! Very much appreciated.
  13. Can you explain this more? I'm leveling a baby EM scrapper and would like to understand how to better evaluate the choices. The in-game numbers appear to refute this statement. What isn't being taken into account in the numbers here? Thanks!
  14. Here's a first stab at this. Maybe something here you can use as an inspiration! eve.costume
  15. I hopped on the bandwagon a little while ago due to this thread. 34 now and all kinds of fun. Softcapped to all the relevant defenses (OK, neg engy is less than 1% shy), and that's just with secondary toggles plus Combat Jumping. Does a very respectable job of blendering things, and that's with my old man fingers botching the chains.
  16. This guy started with a costume (the original hero long since deleted) and a search for a name. Pretty surprised that Unfound was free. The powersets followed (Psi/Energy Aura Brute), and the bio flowed easily from there. If only it could be that simple all the time!
  17. Here's my take on this for you. faora.costume
  18. Something different - a costume without a character! This is one I'd made in the early days of returning, but the character (TW/Rad Brute if memory serves) just never jived with me. The hero got shelved while the costume file lived on. So, any suggestions on what to do with this wasteland scavenger?
  19. Aw man, I missed the memo on Superkid week! Hope I'm not too late to the party 🙂 Here's my retro-future cartoon inspired heroine, MEGABLAST! (fire/rad blaster) She rocks a standard-issue outfit for day-to-day activities... ...and when the going gets tough, she summons an exo-suit designed to tackle whatever gets thrown at her. As you can see, she has plenty of room inside the suit.
  20. Well, it's no massive list, but I let go of Misadventure today. Hopefully it finds a good home!
  21. Closing in on 50 with my innocent fairy tale girl, so it seems like a good time to post her proposed final build for review and improvement. This is also the first brute I've played to make it past 30, so I'm flying a little blind as far as necessaries are concerned. I also have zero ideas on Incarnates - was thinking Musculature Radial alpha, Assault Radial hybrid as good places to start? She's hitting what look like solid resists (excepting Cold and Psi), and makes it up to 44.7% melee defense. The build as planned leans on Meltdown and Rune of Protection as "oh poop" buttons to close up resist gaps, but I don't know if that's really necessary based on where she's sitting now. I also keep seeing advice to skip Shred, which I currently use, so if that's the conventional wisdom it would need a replacement (ideally one that lets me get the same benefits from slots allocated). Couple more slots in Ground Zero would be cool I guess but I don't know from where. Side note: I'm not a huge fan of Hasten unless I can make it perma, which I've tried and failed at in previous attempts at this build. If that can be accomplished without sacrifices elsewhere, please enlighten me! So, let me know what works, what could be improved, and what's just plain wrong-headed.
