*/Ninja Training - How does any primary other than Archery make sense?
Extor Prime replied to Fan Mail's topic in Blaster
I want to see a TW/Nin with a Huge body type and all sliders maxed. He could call himself Daisuke the Large... -
By the way! You are still only VL32. You still get Merit awards every 3 levels, so you don't even have to worry about specifically grinding merits and salvage overmuch. Just play normally and level and by VL50 you should have enough merits to craft at least one set of T4s, unless you've been trading merits for threads or something...
-
For assault you need Core rather than Radial. Doublehit only shines if you spend a lot of time at damage cap. Core buffs the decoys whether it's active or inactive, but it buffs them more when it is active. Interfaces are buggy. Get the Degenerative Core and don't look back. It's got the most impact and the fewest issues.
-
Burdens of the Past (Heather Townsend) at -1/1/0/0, over and over and over and over again. Stealth speeds things up somewhat. It is nauseatingly boring, but reliably spits out merits and components.

This entire thread is why I play solo 90% of the time.

Yes it does proc, and yes it does buff the decoys. It's been a point of some uncertainty but it is known for sure now. I know they are technically unbuffable but that particular IO gets around this rule somehow. Not taking Deceive is a bad decision. It is one of our cornerstone powers. It also gives a place to the Coercive Persuasion set which brings recharge, damage, ranged defense and energy/negative defense bonuses to the table. Not to mention that when Contagious Confusion procs, you can confuse an entire spawn. Even without it, turning an elite boss or even an AV info a temp pet is a form of control (on which illusion controllers are a bit light). A confused enemy as is good as held, except instead of standing around uselessly he is hitting his friends or buffing you.

It's a little late in the day for a detailed dive, but here's a couple things off-hand: Flash and Choking Cloud are profoundly meh. I'd drop them both and move the slots elsewhere. Six-slot Blind and Spectral Wounds. Put a Gladiators Javelin chance for toxic in both. I put five Unbreakable Constraints into Blind (everything except for hold duration) and Apocalypse in SW (everything except Damage). Sprinkle in boosters to hit the ED caps. You won't be a proc monster, but you'll get 10 percent to global recharge from each and procs will help out with your ST damage. You don't need overwhelming force kb to kd in PA. Knocking things down with PA is fun but it makes no difference. They are invul as is, and if a decoy is fighting something, that something is fighting the decoy. Ergo, it is sufficiently controlled. Put four expedient reinforcements in there and Soulbound Allegiance chance for buildup. Sprinkle in boosters to get maximum damage, recharge and acc possible. If you are going with epic mace, get the poison Ray and the tarantula. Stack dat -res! And incarnates. You need them to truly blossom these days. For you I think Musculature Alpha, degenerative interface, ion judgment, and Clarion destiny.

I haven't needed to use temp powers for anything other than convenience, or when I'm exemped down and missing something crucial like Heat Loss. Clarion fills the need for mez protection (it is permanent so you are pretty much mezz-immune). Sleet and Infrigidate with Achilles Heel give substantial res and def debuffs for extra damage. Traps has a lot going on and is very powerful (there's a reason why everyone knows that a bots/traps MM can kill absolutely anything, given time). But, it requires re-setting the traps with every encounter. That's too slow for me. It also is annoying in a group setting where you need to just quickly roll ahead with everyone else. Cold on the other hand just shows up and starts killing and can keep killing on the move.
-
Ill/Traps requires too much fiddling and setting up. I never had trouble with AVs running away (Ill/Storm suffers from that, but not Ill/Cold).
-
Depends on what feels powerful to you. Do you like slow and meaty melee? Super strength, Titan weapons will fit the bill then. You can see the extreme end of super-super strength by playing Cole's personal story. For one mission you get to be Tyrant. Ignore the lightning, and use only his punches, handclap and laser eyes and see if you like it. That's your quintessential meaty and slow melee on a grander scale. Do you want faster and fluid melee? Savage, Claws and StJ is what you want. Less visual cues for "I just punched you so hard yo mama felt it" and more "I got mad punching skillz and you don't". Do you want to blast from range? Nothing beats Energy Blast. It's pretty and it produces knockback. What is more powerful than making enemies fly? Do you want to feel like a one-man army? Illusion Control gives you five different pets, and with a secondary like Storm you can put even more objects on the field. Lots of knockback, lots of terror (enemies scatter in fear) and lots of stuff just GOING ON! Glorious chaos! Not very practical, but by gawd, spectacular to behold! Not enough pets? Thugs Mastermind! You aren't powerful because you are mighty, you are powerful because you got a bunch of guys who do what you say! Call up a Gang War and watch a crowd of psychos beat your enemies while you cackle madly!

Hope you got a couple bucks to your name cause it's anything but cheap.

You know what, I probably WILL forget tomorrow, so here's the build. Notes: - Endurance hog. Before Heat Loss, you will have severe endurance issues. Visit P2W and stock up on recovery serums. Also comes in handy when exemped down. - No self-heal of any kind. Carry greens, buy Med Pack and if necessary, get out of the line of fire and wait for the Panacea to refill your health bar. Preventative Medicine will save your ass more times than you'll count. - When using Heat Loss, REMEMBER TO BE IN THE POINT BLANK RANGE OF YOUR TARGET. - The build does not work without Agility Core Alpha. Not at high levels anyway. - Craft Ageless Destiny Core too. When you don't expect to fight many mezzers, use it instead of Clarion. That way you don't have to bother with getting into point-blank range for Heat Loss, and can use it as a pure ranged AoE debuff. - Sprinkle Enhancement Boosters around liberally. I personally have EVERYTHING that can be boosted boosted to +5. It is clearly unnecessary due to ED limits, but looks gucci, as the cool kids say. Regardless, use enough boosters to hit ED limits everywhere you can. You absolutely MUST!! have a +5 Recharge IO in Hasten; and +5 all Expedient Reinforcements in Phantom Army also. - Your ST attack chain is Blind -> Spectral Wounds -> Ice Blast -> Infrigidate. It cycles perfectly. - Your AoE is Sleet -> Heat Loss (if it is up) -> Ice Storm. - Benumb the hardest target in the spawn. Keep Benumb on it as much as you can. It's perma. - You aren't going to be a proc monster (because of a lot of slotted recharge in your ST chain and Agility Alpha), but procs definitely help out with damage, and turn Infrigidate from a non-damaging debuff into a damaging attack. - You should have capped ranged and S/L defense. - Arctic Fog + Sprint (with Stealth IO) = full stealth. You don't need Improved Invisibility OR Group Invisibility (they give worse defense than Arctic Fog and no resistance, and can't be used together with Arctic Fog). If you don't want to be transparent all the time, buy prestige sprints from P2W and slot the stealth IO into one of them instead. Then use regular Sprint when you want to look solid but still want to run fast. - Afterburner is optional if you don't care about flight speed, but if you don't take it, find something else to mule the LOTG IO. - Use Longbow Lore pets to speed up AV killing. Also craft Banished Pantheon Radial and use it when you need moar AoE (farming or Trick or Treating and such). - Get the "big four" stat-boosting accolades to improve your anemic HP somewhat and get a little extra Endurance. - Don't forget to use Deceive where necessary. When Contagious Confusion procs, it's hilarious. What I can do with this build: - Best kill time on the pylon: 1:30 (give or take a couple seconds), without Lore or Judgment. - Soloed ITF at +4/8 - Soloed various GMs - Soloed various AVs. - Soloed various level 50 arcs at +4/8 - Playing at +0/8 is straight up boring. You don't even need to use your Judgment half the time. Playing at +1/8 feels like "normal difficulty". +4/8 you need to pay attention to what you are doing, but even then you dominate the field. Your biggest problem is mezzes (but that's what Clarion is for), Deceive-immune mobs that see through stealth (i.e. Rularuu watchers) and bum-rushing melee mobs that get past your PA (i.e. Knives of Vengeance). Ill/Cold is THE AV/GM killer. I'll post my build tomorrow if I don't forget.
-
It works on the Phantasm but not on the PA. And it doesn't help him much. I have tactics, but only because it provides a slightly higher defense than Combat Jumping, not because it affects the Phantasm. PA does not need defense anyway, being invulnerable and all. The only ways to buff their damage beyond what enhancements give you is to slot Soulbound Allegiance chance for Build Up, and have the Assault Hybrid running when you summon them. And of course Musculature Alpha helps too (essentially being an extra damage enhancement), if you can somehow fit it instead of the good ol' Agility.
-
Care to share the build? I've had several attempts at building a capped En/En, but never quite seem to hit the sweet spot with defenses.

You know you have found your main...
Extor Prime replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
Here, I got one for you. When you have multiple fully incarnated and IOd characters, but only one has badges other than day jobs. -
Shove a Superior Will of the Controller in there, all six. It's delightful.
-
This will always be the quintessential CoH video for me.
-
Level 50 enhancements don't lose effectiveness from level shifts. But if you boost (in case of IOs) or merge (in case of HamiOs) them, you get a bigger bonus from them. And yes, you do need to buy identical HamiOs to merge them. Gets spendy.
-
As long as you have components, you can craft ALL incarnate powers. Don't sweat it if you crafted a wrong T1 or T2 power either, they are crafted purely from Incarnate threads that drop literally all the time. You will naturally get a lot of incarnate merits just from leveling, too. I'm nearing VL100 (when merits stop being awarded), and while I only have one of each T4 Alpha, Interface, Hybrid and Judgment, I have four T4 Destinies and working on the fifth, and three T4 Lores.

Is there a standard AV for benchmarking?
Extor Prime replied to Gulbasaur's topic in General Discussion
For single target DPS testing, Rikti Pylon is what you want. If you can take down a pylon, you have enough DPS to overcome an AV's Regen. But, every AV is different. Whereas a pylon is 100 HP/s Regen and 20% resist (IIRC), AVs have individual quirks on top of that, i.e. Mako's Elude periods or Nightstar's insane resistance, or Romulus' fluffy cheer squad. Ultimately there is no "benchmark" AV because of this. -
For sure, for sure. But nothing beats compartmentalization, in my view.
-
Think about Alpha as an enhancement invisibly slotted into every power that can take said enhancement. For example building and slotting Musculature Alpha Core Paragon is like slotting a +Dam enhancement into every power that can take a +Dam, and a +Immobilize enhancement into every power that can take +Immobilize. It is partially affected by ED, and it DOES count as an enhancement (rather than global) for the purposes of PPM.

Win10 leaks like a sieve, but it is easy to use and requires very little fiddling for the purposes of gaming. Which is why my gaming rig is Win10, and that is all that it is. It is a humongous, expensive console for all intents and purposes. All other business is done on a Linux laptop.
