Display Name
Willpower/Psionic Melee. This is the first Tanker I've played, so I'm really enjoying it! A friend designed a build for me so that she's "a Tanker with a capital 'T!'" Lol! I frequently hear comments to the effect that Tankers aren't needed anymore, but no seems to mind when I come along (well, except for the haters!) Lol! 1 @Super Whatsit Superbase passcode (Excelsior) is "passcode-6475" It's all a Nemesis plot. But not everything is a Nemesis plot!
SeraphimKensai
Over the years I've played: Invuln/axe Dark/Stone Stone/Fire Fire/Ice Ice/EM Bio/Staff Invuln/MA SR/DM And honestly they are all really fun time play. My invuln axe tank used to farm wolves non-stop, where my fire/ice did for freaks. Ice/em was great at disruption for PvP, Stone/Fire was a gargoyle come to live that when I rolled it played a marathon 26.5 hours before falling asleep on it, where it ended up lvl 42 before I couldn't keep my eyes open. Bio/staff is.l extremely hard to kill, and fun with 6 forms.
MTeague
My Orc Prot Warrior, in Naxxramus. Good times man. Serious nostalgia with guild runs, and crossing that threshold from "we barely know what we're doing" to "aw yea, we got this". Oh, you mean tank powerset combo in City of Heroes? 🙂 Probably my Invul / SS. Total Tank-Classic, not a giant in terms of AE damage, but extrordinarily durable. Can sit there and take punishment for days without his hp's moving much. And with the IO's, he doesn't have a hole for Psi anymore, and has very high resist vs several types of damage. He just feels like the tank that you can smash concrete beams over his head, and he'll just smile at you and say "Bro, do you even lift?". Or fling anything at him ... fire, cold, negative, whatever... and you'll just make him mad. 2 1 Roster: MTeague's characters: The Good, The Bad, and The Gold
Retired Lead Game Master GM Miss Posted March 30, 2020 Retired Lead Game Master Share Posted March 30, 2020 I legit have at least one if not two of each tank at 50 now. As a player, they are my favorite 😍. Favorites: Elec/Elec - Strong and good dmg Dark/Fire - End **HOG** but once its 50 and only does 50 content because end drain ouch, its unstoppable. Rad/Rad - Pretty much an unstoppable truck. SR/Stone - Scaling dmg rest +the Sdr IO makes for a hardy tank that stays around half health 24/7. Least Favorite: Shield/SS - Shield struggled to keep up with other similar leveled tanks Stone/BA - Boring 3 Contact me on Discord (Miss#1337) for a faster response! I tried Shield and also found it to "struggle" in some capacities that other tanking combinations did not have issues with. I also found Stone incredibly problematic with how "slow" and "hard to keep up with the group" it can be even with teleport. There's so many cave instances where it just does not feel like it can keep up or feel like it has a job (the group often moves too quick for you to get there in time to absorb the alpha) it's lead to me destroying my stonies! 😧
Retired Lead Game Master GM Miss Posted March 31, 2020 Retired Lead Game Master Share Posted March 31, 2020 I ended up pairing shield with SS for the soft control of hand clap + foot stomp. It really did help fill in some of the gaps but that was way late into my tank at that point. I was SO LUCKY to level my tank with a friend who went /kin for me - otherwise I would have been soooooooooooooooo finished with it by the time it hit 50. 2 Contact me on Discord (Miss#1337) for a faster response! ShardWarrior
Have to say my good old fashioned Broadsword/Shield is a lot of fun. Not a DPS monster, but I did not build her to be one. I built her to be a classic tank and she excels at it.

Its unkillable strong, has shield charge which is a good form of control also especially if you pair it with avalanche and the kd proc, but it's also a great additional pbaoe attack. Id say its a toss up between any one of my 3 shield tanks and my rad rad for best unkillable durability. My shield/elec is an outright monster when paired with musculature and assault radial too. What was it that was so unpleasant? just curious.

One of my fav moments from live was joining a random PUG squad on my Controller. I think it was Peregrine Island. I know I was *right next* to them when they invited me. I joined, said "Heyo". The tank (In Granite Armor) then said "oh god ANOTHER controller? that's too many" I speed boosted him. "KIN!!!!!!!!!! HE CAN STAY! HE CAN STAY!!!" 🙂 1 3 Roster: MTeague's characters: The Good, The Bad, and The Gold
StriderIV
Necroing this @Infinitum post because it was fun to read through and I LOVE TANKERS. So far, my 3 most FUN tankers have been: Dark/Staff - Super synergy. Love how robust DA is as a set, and Staff is just a ton of fun to build Perfection with and hold Aggro. Shield/Elec - You want to feel like a God of Thunder, right? Invuln/EM - Feels like a straight upgrade to my Invuln/SS after the EM changes. This is Superman after training in the sun =P Currently leveling a Fire/Ice Tanker and having a blast, so that might hop up the list. SUPER interested in running a Rad Tanker as well. Maybe Rad/Kat or Rad/Sav? Would love to hear some more cool/fun combos! 1
Ravenbane
The only tanker I've ever gotten to the end game is Tephra, my FA/Stone/Pyre tank who's essentially a walking volcano. It requires a lot of patience in leveling as the end mitigation is an issue with stone melee (thank God for consume) but the end result is fabulous. She tanks extremely well, she hits like a truck, and once she reached the 40s and beyond and picked up melt armor, fireball, and pryonic judgement she is also dishes out large amounts of AoE damage as well. I love her so.

It looks the stone fists and hammers just grow out of her arm. And I enjoy few things more on her than soloing/duoing AVs like Hess or Olympian Guard that have a lava pool in their map I can pull them into, which takes care of all of their regen. Fools. Sovera
I would have loved to love Stone Melee, but then I look at its only AoE and go Ogodwhy. Double the animation of Dragon Tail (one of the weakest AoEs) and 8 points less damage. Y u do dis, devs? But not gonna lie that I'd love to just lay the wham with the hammers. Hmm.. I can do Seismic Smash, Stone Mallet, Heavy Mallet, Stone Mallet. I'll go roll one since I have a little volcano kitteh. 2 - Simple guide for newcomers. - Money making included among other things. - Tanker Fire Armor: the Turtle, the Allrounder, the Dragon, and compilation of Fire Armor builds. - Tanker Stone Armor: beginner friendly (near) immortal Tanker for leveling/end-game and Stone Armor framework. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds. Luigrein
I'm sure I had more tanks back on live but my Stone/stone/energy (rolled pre ED, once solod the end of a Hess TF) and my Ice/DB/Ice (aoe aggro machine with a yo yo blue bar, skipped stamina when you had to pick it) are the ones I remember. My Bio/Psy/earth on homecoming has been pretty fun too, got a dark/staff waiting in the wings for when I someday get back to playing enough to finish my get 1 of each AT to 50 goal.
