WitchofDread
So i have never played a scrapped in all my years on CoX and i really want to give dark melee a go. I've heard in the past that dark/invul is pretty unstoppable, but what about dark/shield or dark bio? Im not so bothered by the secondary i just want something which high survivability and hits like a truck!
Erratic1
DM/Inv and DM/Shield are two classic builds for scrappers and arguably either will serve you well. DM/Bio...not a combination I'd ever considered. Bio works really well on my SS/Bio brute so I cannot see why it would not be workable on a scrapper and you really wouldn't ever have any concerns about healing/endurance given you have tools for both in both primary and secondary. Run in Offensive stance to allow all the healing/absorption/regen you get offset the hit to resistances...could be quite nice, especially after using Soul Drain on a group.
Nightmarer 2
DM/Bio is great and busier than DM/Inv. DM/Inv is amazing but Inv is a bit dull. DM/SR is also an awesome combo. 3 Being chased by a wasp is the most complete sport practice!
InvaderStych
+1 for DM/Shield. Classic combo, excellent synergy. /SD is already plenty durable, DM adds a heal and -to-hit to your survival tools. Also: Scrapper Shield Charge. Seriously. Scrapper Shield Charge. 1 You see a mousetrap? I see free cheese and a f$%^ing challenge.

Hew
dm/bio is stupid damage in a group, since you get offensive mode + soul drain. it requires a lot of recharge to perma souldrain though, but you get gobs and gobs and gobs of aoe damage... very solid combo. the -tohit from dm helps offset the weird sort of dual nature of bio's mix of resist and defense.
StrikerFox
DM probably works well with any secondary. One of it's top dpa attacks has a self heal that would be used once every 6ish seconds. I would go with Shield. Just damage buff on top of damage buffs and SD would just appreciate the self heal more since it has none.

Bill Z Bubba
Biggest problem with DM for me is that the best attack chain involves left handed animations. Very boring to watch.
Erratic1
Made a DM/Bio last night and tossed together a cheapie (no purples, no superiors) build in Mids. I am impressed with how hard he hits at low level but boy is he squishy*. I've avoided any defeats so far but it has been close. I also realize things change as face tougher opponents at higher levels. I think it could be worth exploring but have other projects on my plate currently. So I will likely set the character aside for now and possibly come back to him in the future. * Talking level 19 here with no enhacements slotted, and only Siphon Life and Ablatitve Carapace to lean on while running Offensive Adaptation. Deuce Spade
Deuce Spade is one of my favorite characters, and on Homecoming he is a Bio/DM tank. Easily my most offensively powerful tank, and sturdy enough in Offensive Adaptation to handle most things solo, especially once you get debuff protection from Ageless Radial. Most of his defense is how fast he kills with AOE though, the tanker version of Shadow Maul and Touch of Fear will likely ruin the scrapper versions for you. He can solo +4/8 Carnies with careful play, You might try that combo if you feel the scrapper is too squishy for your taste.

Erratic1
5 hours ago, WitchofDread said: How do you slot bio? Other sets are known as being Defense, Resistance, or Regen oriented. Bio is a patchwork of all of those with damage absorption thrown in. On the Defense side of things, you have the ability to relatively easily raise typed defenses to Fire/Cold/Energy/Negative to cap. Smash/Lethal probably can be capped too, but it is somewhat easier to respectfully invest in them while raising Smash/Lethal resistance to max. Toxic resistance you will easily pick up a solid base in but probably also will not find it cost effective to max. You also get tools to heal, apply damage absorption, and boost Regen/Recovery. S/L Resist + F/C/E/N Defense supported by lesser investments in Healing/Regen/Recovery is probably the most straightforward path to success with Bio and the one I have followed, however it is not necessarily the only path as I have seen people who clearly focused considerably on bolstering damage absorption and read about those who have focused on Regen.

Erratic1
Bless you for including a data chunk. I am impressed you pushed S/L Defense as far as you did. As goes F/C/E/N...there is a certain amount of reliance when playing Bio on your Healing/Absorption/Regen powers so you may be fine (certainly while I could finish my SS/Bio's brute's build I have not and he's at roughly the levels you have for those and pretty solid when wading into groups, at least until DDR comes out). I am not sure if what is nagging at me that those should be maxed is preference or real. As a suggestion, the base Resistance values provided by Evolving Armor are tiny, so slotting the power is worth it primarily for the set bonsuses. If you can find two slots to steal from elsewhere in your build you can slot the full Mocking Beratement set, which will provide amongst other things 2.5% S/L and 3.13 F/C Defense. I will admit that while I feel comfortable in general building a plan for Bio, DM/Bio has frustrated me. Classic combo, excellent synergy. /SD is already plenty durable, DM adds a heal and -to-hit to your survival tools. Also: Scrapper Shield Charge. Seriously. Scrapper Shield Charge. How much do you siphon for?

I don't have a DM/SD; but I do know it's a good combo from back in the day. I might have had one during Live. My /SD scrapper is Psi/, and that's a whole different kind of thing. 😛 It's a base 10% heal, can be enhanced, but idk if that's something people do. Max enhancement would probably cap the heal around 19% ish. Significant if one were to slot that way. But it's a good DPA attack to boot, so it's part of DM's regular attack chain (unless that's changed recently). So it's more about the consistent influx of green bar than it's strength in an individual application. 🍻 Edited September 19, 2021 by InvaderStych 1 You see a mousetrap? I see free cheese and a f$%^ing challenge.
