Both sets were revamped and I'm curious if anyone has tackled these and was willing to share builds, if you have a moment?

The pink pom-poms of death humming while enjoying a damage aura plus the new Brimstone dots sound fun.

No build for that combo but I promise it will be sick. Since we ARE talking brute (instead of my brain-farts in the claws/stone scrapper thread) you can groove with the ET-long, TF, ET-short, Gloom, Bonesmasher single target chain. Fury/Brimstone backed Mud Pots taunting for ya and buffing Nrg's lowish AoE output. Throw in Darkest Night for more -tohit/-damage and you probably won't ever need Granite except in extreme cases.

Wait one.... Brimstone doesn't buff Mud Pots?

Edit: But since Brimstone itself is Criting on my scrapper, does that mean Brimstone's damage will be buffed by Fury?

Yes fury boosts Brimstones damage but i am not sure on the exact %.

I can't imagine the percentage being any different from any other power being buffed by fury.  Do they do that?  Do they calculate every ability individually for the possibility of fury buffs?  I figure it was fixed for the whole character all these years, well, outside of incarnate abilities I mean.

For the most part that's true. Fury is Fury: Up to +200% damage. But they could have blocked Brimstone itself from accepting damage buffs and then tied in some other calculation based on the Fury value. No clue if they did that but CoD is odd on this front.

Both Scrapper and Brute Brimstone Armor have the Ignores enhancements and other boosts flag:

image.png.c0fc1623e51964da50a5a0294dcfa045.png

And if we dive into the Grant Power section on both we see the same flag on all the effects, but the scrapper section has the normal 5%/10% crit chance subsections... but I don't see anything in the brute section regarding Fury. Quite frankly, with the Ignores enhancements and other boosts flag in place throughout, I'm not at all sure HOW Fury is affecting Brimstone Armor.

Look at the magnitude expression.

How do the builds compare

Expand

Bit more resistances (except fire/cold, but they are not terribly important or common, unlike S/L and E/N), immunity to -ToHit debuffs, less AoE thanks to not having Dark Obliteration, maybe more ST despite having Gloom just comparing (Fury at zero for both, but added Musculature's 33% to both as well) ET (435 VS 617) and TF (430 VS 492). Though Gloom's so OP it may still come out ahead despite its slotting. We would only know if tested on a pylon/trapdoor.

Rest of the slotting is a bit all over the place tbh, and I do dislike powers underslotted. Anyway, can see for yourself.

Other differences is endurance cost/recovery and recharge.

I kind of like this one, I might go superior conditioning instead of focused acc and then slot energy transfer with a set instead of a proc bomb.  Hmm...

Got that bug again, and rolled one of these up to replace another brute I'd made a few months back. Solid combo, a bit low on the AOE but I'm hoping Dark Obliteration helps on that front. The ST is top notch though, and some rather high burst IMO.

I did drop the crappy melee cone (Power Crash) and replaced it with Cross Punch, which I get a lot more mileage out of.

How does Power Crash compare to the new version of Touch of Fear?  It's light on damage but the recharge is really short and it is light on end.

Besides one being a cone and the other a AoE, Touch of Fear has a -tohit component that I really like.  It can add a lot to your survivability.

I have never thought to compare the two directly. But I'll say this, my characters with Dark Melee tend to keep and use Touch of Fear. Can't say that for Power Crash, which felt underwhelming.
