May I ask, why are your Enhanecments lvl 30?

I do a lot of exemplar-ing so I keep most of set bonuses all the way down to L23.

You might want to consider the attuned variants of the enhancements. As far as I know, attuning a set IO causes it to level up and down with you within the limits of the IO set so you keep the set bonuses as low as possible while also getting full enhancement values at level 50. They're also available in the AH at no extra cost because the "bucketing" feature allows you to buy one if the corresponding IO of any level is put up for sale.

How do you attune a set IO? I thought AIOs and very rare sets were attuned.

AIOs are attuned by default, purples can be but that most likely doesn't do anything for them as the bonuses carry down to level 1 anyway. I haven't tried attuning any regular set IOs I've bought some off the AH: you can search for crafted enhancements and either restrict the level range to 1-1 or look for the ones with a different border. I would assume that using a catalyst on a regular set IO would do this, too, but it's cheaper to buy them attuned rather than get the enhancement and catalyst separately.

This is my "incarnate" build. I'm going to give Soul Mastery a shot. I really like the idea of having an o crap button of Shadow Meld. It'll come in handy when fighting -def or +to hit enemies which seem to be everywhere now.

Definitely digging shadow meld. It's really nice to absorb alphas and it recharges really quickly. I didn't realize how expensive Membranes were :o

So I use enhancement catalysts to attune them?

Yes. I have started doing that with my Elec/SD Scrapper and the set bonuses remain so long as you are not exemplared below the minimum level of that particular IO set. So when you exemplar down to level 30 for example, all attuned enhancements will function as if they were level 30. It's not cheap though. Catalysts cost 20 merits each, and range anywhere from 3-5 million on the market. They can also drop from kills.

I don't recall how the effect of uniques like Miracle or Numina's work though, so I'm not sure what attuning them would do if it is slotted in something like Health and not used for some sort of set bonus.

All the my uniques are set to the lowest possible level they can go to. That way I'll never lose them.

You should really throw a Gaussian's Chance for Build Up proc in Soul Drain. When you get a full stack + the build up, it's a thing of beauty.

For some reason my build didn't have it in there but I do have it in my live build.

I Just hit 40 on my baby DM/Shield and popped in to see some thoughts on mid-game builds...

My main question is in regards to the power choices for DM -

I'm honestly not a fan of body mastery on DM/Shield. With dark consumption on a roughly 40 second cooldown in my build I have never found myself needing extra end on top of the 3.14/s (Not counting PS proc) I'm getting already. Was running fire mastery for a bit for fireball but ultimately settled on soul mastery. Shadow Meld makes for a great "Oh Sh!t" button against things that lower defense or in incarnate trials.

Never thought about Soul Mastery before.  I like that idea, I find myself needing extra def a lot lately fighting Praetorians.

I noticed you only took Smite and Shadow Maul. Is this personal preference? I just got back into the City recently, but I somewhat recall shadow maul being a dps decrease on Live. Or am I misremembering? Either way, just curious about your reasoning and thoughts. Thank you in advance!

Right now it is for additional melee defense but once I switch over to my incarnate build I usually drop it.

Right now it is for additional melee defense but once I switch over to my incarnate build I usually drop it.

I assumed so - was just curious to hear other's feedback and thought process. Thanks

Have you tried Moonbeam and running Soul Drain+Tactics+Kismet 6%? That would add up to enough +tohit to turn MB into an instant-snipe. I think it would have the highest dps out of DM's attacks, though I don't think ancillary/epic attacks get a Scrapper's boosted chance to crit.

Nope but that does sound interesting!

New build, got rid of shadow maul and 5 slotted dark blast to get another purple set in.

That is the ideal attack chain. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure it goes Smite > SL > Smite > MG, or some variation on that.

First, greetings to all old forumites - it's been awhile!  Sant...er, Murc, nice to see you at it again.  Munkilord, good to see you too!

Second, MG>Smite>SL>Smite is the optimal ST chain and, if my brain isn't failing me from so many years ago, it requires 235% recharge in MG to achieve.

Forgive my ignorance - but what are the sniper changes? And how do they benefit Scrappers outside of access to a different group of set bonuses?

Your builds look really solid. Clearly lots of time and energy invested.

How would you build for leveling? With only 2 attacks before 32, I can't see using this version as anything but a 50 respec, which I assume is your intention.

My DM/SD just dinged 22, and is running on basic L25 IOs. Where would you suggest I go from here? The main questions being:

- Tough/Weave at 24/28, or can those hold off til 28/30 (or later) & allow me to grab a "real" travel power at 24?

- True Grit - slot DamRes first or Heal first? Or alternate maybe?

- Deflection - slot for DamRes at all, or just Def?

- At what point should I be looking at set IOs (that is to say, at what level will they provide better % than same level basic IOs)?

Level 1: Shadow Punch -- 4 slots

Level 1: Deflection -- 3 slots

Level 2: Smite -- 4 slots

Level 4: True Grit -- 3 slots

Level 6: Battle Agility -- 3 slots

Level 8: Siphon Life -- 3 slots

Level 10: Active Defense -- 2 slots

Level 12: Shadow Maul -- 3 slots

Level 14: Boxing -- 1 slot

Level 16: Against All Odds -- 1 slot

Level 18: Dark Consumption -- 3 slots

Level 20: Phalanx Fighting -- 1 slot

Level 22: Combat Jumping -- 1 slot

Level 2: Stamina -- 3 slots

(I'm missing 1 slot - trying to go from memory at work!)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and recommendations!

@Cutter

So many alts, so little time...

- Tough/Weave at 24/28, or can those hold off til 28/30 (or later) & allow me to grab a "real" travel power at 24?

- True Grit - slot DamRes first or Heal first? Or alternate maybe?

- Deflection - slot for DamRes at all, or just Def?

- At what point should I be looking at set IOs (that is to say, at what level will they provide better % than same level basic IOs)?

Level 1: Shadow Punch -- 4 slots

Level 1: Deflection -- 3 slots

Level 2: Smite -- 4 slots

Level 4: True Grit -- 3 slots

Level 6: Battle Agility -- 3 slots

Level 8: Siphon Life -- 3 slots

Level 10: Active Defense -- 2 slots

Level 12: Shadow Maul -- 3 slots

Level 14: Boxing -- 1 slot

Level 16: Against All Odds -- 1 slot

Level 18: Dark Consumption -- 3 slots

Level 20: Phalanx Fighting -- 1 slot

Level 22: Combat Jumping -- 1 slot

Level 2: Stamina -- 3 slots

(I'm missing 1 slot - trying to go from memory at work!)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and recommendations!

This was my leveling build, cheap and dirty, and close to soft capped defenses. Just add one purple koolaid and you're golden.

New build, going to give confront and moonbeam a shot. I'm interested in the snipe changes. I also lowered the cost of the build by at least 40m INF by getting rid of some HOs as they're 20-25m INF a pop.

Forgive my ignorance - but what are the sniper changes? And how do they benefit Scrappers outside of access to a different group of set bonuses?

NOT FORGIVEN! HOW DARE YOU NOT KNOW!

Seriously though, the interrupt was removed from sniper powers so they're instant activation. They have solid damage and stupid range so they make great for pulling in TF and Incarnate TF scenarios.

Finally got this build built. Its crazy how cheap stuff is on Homecoming vs NCSoft.
