I started playing my DM/SD a little more again and I noticed I wanted more dps than i was getting it was fine and I could do what ever I needed but I was not happy. The issue how do i maintain my survivability  i need when I duo with my buddy or group up weekly with a group of weaker toons.  Lets just say most the group does not make builds like I do or play the game at a high level. I met them through my buddy that is friends with them and they are a nice  and I still have fun that is the beauty of COH as an MMO.  With that in mind I had a project make my global recharge higher and still be close to what I had.

 

I been playing in mids and a few respecs later I was able to add 19% global recharge and add about 2HPS  regen and only give up about 4.5% S/L resistance I went from 61 to 57 roughly but man is my attack chain so much tighter and I have 2 damage procs in smite since I was able to drop a purple set in that attack.  Just to clarify the defense numbers where all super close or a little higher than the previous build.

 

This has been my project since last week along with leveling my ice/sd scrapper.  I am a happier dm/sd than I was last week and wanted to share my build in case anyone else is in similar build constraints or hey maybe it can give you ideas in your build

I started messing a bit with it, but since it's tailored to your playstyle I abandoned the idea. But I just wanted to add that you don't need the Quismet since you're already overcapped in accuracy, don't need the status resist IO since Shield's anti CC is the best in the market, that Assault is pretty weak (despite saying 10% it may be more like 5%) and Hasten would get you more Shield Charges and etc. I also had it to 70-72% S/L resistance which depending on your incarnates it could cap out with Barrier or just add a bit more to reach 75%. But the S/L defense was down to 48% which seemed to stray from your overcapping desires.

I knew hasten would help I just don't want it in every build so kind of a goal in this build plus I generally  put hasten on auto fire and with Active Defense gerr.  The Status IO is slotted for the big  regeneration buff.

Did not realize I was at acc cap thanks I can probably change some IO's up a little.  Yep knew assault was weak it is a filler; it was that or super jump with -slow resistance IO; I decided on small damage buff.

 

I can live with 48% I found with shield not having full ddr on defense a little extra overcap can help. I always looking for ways to squeeze out more from IO's

Thanks about the acc tip went back and rebuilt again lost some of my hp per sec but squeezed another 5% recharge defense is pretty on par with previous and I got smash/lethal resistance to 64.89%. I will probably try to squeeze more out of the build later

I’ve played Dark attack characters across the spectrum, and am currently leveling a DM/Shield scrapper.  Had a DM/SR scrapper back on live for many years as well, as well as DM/Regen back when those were all the rage.

 

Survivability isn’t an issue at +4/x8 even in your upper 30’s or low 40’s, with a few exceptions for Def Debuffing enemies.  But I never feel like my kill speed is fast enough with Dark Melee.  The heavy hitters just don’t seem to be there for the set and I always feel like I’m missing a ‘finisher.’  A lot of this is illusion as with high recharge you can Soul Drain frequently but since my kill speed takes a bit, I often find myself “herding” several groups (AAO does this nicely), ducking around a corner and trying to keep a pile on me so I can get the best use of Soul Drain repeatedly.

 

Hoping having Fireball slotted out soon will help alleviate this for me.

I' m also running one of these, mostly soloing mission arcs. 40-ish now and chugging along nicely. 

 

Here's my "No winters and no purps" build. Which is exactly like the planned final build other than I'll lob 3 purple procs into various places instead of the Mako's, Eradication & Cloud Senses ones I have here. 

 

Went with Moonbeam and I do find myself praying for Dark Consumption to come back sometimes, so I might change that.

 

I'm also unsure if the Crits proc should be in Maul or somewhere else. Feels like I'm wasting half the buff whiffing at the enemies.

So I finally got to making my favorite melee character... Im of two minds with the build both get to 45% def in all positions and maximize hp.

 

1. Push procs/damage and ignore the psi hole

 

2. Push psi resist (haven't even thought about trying to get psi def up) and 6 slot for def bonuses.

 

More damage output vs psi safety...

 

Remembering how much the clowns hurt is real.

just wondering what your attack chains are like?

ST: MG > Smite > SL > Smite (and repeat? refreshing Soul drain whenever needed)
AoE: Sheild Charge > Fireball > SM ?

When if ever do you use DC?
Do you ever use Char? Melt Armor?


I am really intersted in running a Dark/Sheild but just trying to wrap my head around the concept

I have enough recharge to be >1 sec away from perma soul drain. The only issue is that fodder dies too quickly after the first SD 😞

Hello everyone! This thread has encouraged me to try out a scrapper. However, I am "not so good" at build crafting and/or knowing what I am doing when leveling. I usually just yolo it and end up respecing a million times. These builds look amazing but I was wondering if anyone has a "leveling up" build with plain IOs and such?

 

I have more motivation to play when I have a set path in front of me and sadly with life, work, and family - play time is minimal so I'd rather play than learn theory crafting. 😞
