shortguy on indom Posted August 11 Posted August 11 SUGGEST: INCREASING THE NUMBER OF 'MULTIPLE BUILDS' PER CHARACTER FROM THE CURRENT 3 TO 5. WOULD ALLOW A SINGLE CHARACTER MORE FLAVORS TO CHOOSE FROM IN VARIOUS POWER POOLS/EPICS/PATRONS FOR DIFFERING: GAME ENEMIES/FACTIONS PVP SITUATIONS TRAVEL POOL SITUATIONS 1 1 PvP Capture the Flag! Bring some fun into it....
Glacier Peak Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Five? Why not ten? 1 1 I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide! Best Post Ever....
Aracknight Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Huh. Ten could mean one per costume slot. Different build for each costume? It'd also be an inf sink. I'm suddenly very in favor of ten. 1 1

Techwright Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I could see 3, yeah, ...maaayybbeee 4, but that's, to my thinking anyway, all about giving Kheldians options: one build focused to each form, with a possible 4th build if one really wants a 3-form hybrid. Beyond that, it feels greatly excessive, If I really must try out 5 different ways of playing my character, I'd be much more inclined to start additional, identical-looking characters and just place a number/letter/mark after the name (assuming there is room). Just my two ha'pennies worth. 1
Greycat Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I don't see a problem with it... don't know how much work there is on teh back end to expand from the current 3, but given each build has to have its own enhancements, recharges on everything are triggered when you swap as it is, and there's no UI to try to deal with, sure, why not. 1 Kheldian Lore and Backstory Guide 2.0: HC edition Out to EAT : A look at Epic ATs - what is, could have been, and never was Want 20 merits? golstat2003 Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Sure, why not. Make it 10 even as mentioned, so that you could have one per costume slot. 1 1
Yomo Kimyata Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I don't see offhand how to turn this into an exploit. It would be useful for established players, and it would serve as an influence/enhancement sink. I'm ok with adding more than the base 3 slots. 1 Who run Bartertown?
SeraphimKensai Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I am one of the few who play with multiple builds and build swap macros and I wish it didn't pop a CD on things like TT, ATT and the like but I can live with it. I have 4 characters that I use with 3 builds a piece, and I haven't no objections to allowing the max number of builds to expand, however I see it as a low priority suggestion. +1. 1
lemming Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I think I have one character with a specialized extra build for the ski slopes... However, I see no reason other than coding time to object, so I'm all for it. 1

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
Retired Community Rep Americas Angel Posted August 16 Retired Community Rep Posted August 16 Should be doable. Can have more than 3 builds on a ourodev server. Would be a great change IMO. Bionic_Flea Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Out of hundreds of characters in several servers, I think I have three that use more than the default character: One HEAT, one VEAT, and one Cold/Dark Defender that I made a PvP build for. So while I probably won't use it, I don't have an argument against, barring some technical issue. Even if it's doable on Ourodev, having thousands of characters suddenly have extra builds might have unforseen consequences. Because of that, I think I might prefer to move slowly and add one additional build at first to gauge effects and popularity. And now that I typed that, I wonder if the Devs have easy access to how many characters actually use multiple builds?
Jacke Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Currently there's 2 builds available per Toon while Levelling and a 3rd build unlocked when L50. I have multiple builds on one Toon, my main, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. 3 builds using a different Epic Pool on each: Arsenal Mastery, Force Mastery, Mu Mastery. Except for the 3 Extra Powers, the rest of the 3 builds is identical. I only did the multiple builds once the Toon was L50. Whenever I change something in the common part of the builds, I have to update all 3. I have to keep screenshots of the Trays Layout to get it to be as common between them. It's all rather burdensome. I think I have close to the optimum builds for the Toon. And I hope never to have to Respec any of the builds again. I will never do multiple builds on any other Toon. I tried multiple builds on another Toon while Levelling, one for Solo, one for Team Play. Was too much of an administrative burden. Eventually just stuck to one build for all. From what @Bionic_Flea said about HEATs, VEATs, and PvP builds, maybe some day. But also maybe not. Because managing multiple builds on a Toon with builds as complex as they are in City of Heroes is a pain. Remember! Let's be careful out there! Rudra Posted August 16 Posted August 16 I see no reason to oppose the OP. So unless there is a dev reason why this cannot or should not happen, I say go for it. I won't use it, but neither will I have to. So if others want it and will use it, more power to you.
