(If it even exists, of course...) Considering there is no Nessie, yeah, no one has ever been recorded as attacking her. Though there have been reports of people accidentally hitting her. The most famous of which was a speed boat that disintegrated (exploded?) reportedly hitting something no one ever found out what it was. Though if she was real, you can beat there would be people out there hunting her to kill her for various reasons or capture her for various reasons. 1 hour ago, Bionic_Flea said: I've suggested a solution to the Sally brutality: 1) Make an NPC that talks about Sallie and offers you a temp power that takes the form of the olde timey camera. 2) Make Sally immune to all damage except the flash from the camera. 3) Now that you have photographic proof, you are a Believer! (and are awarded the badge) Potential problems with your proposal: 1) How do you make the attack only work against Sally since the camera would do damage as part of its flash? 2) What type damage would the flash do and how would Sally be immune to other sources of that damage? 3) How do you prevent the attack (the camera) from affecting other enemies? 4) How do you overcome the problem of Sally still dives for taking damage preventing other players from taking her picture. (Or at least mollify said players for a flash doing damage that drives off the monster preventing them from also simply taking a picture for a badge they also want.) (Edit again: After all, she will still be taking damage and following her script per your proposal.) Please bear in mind that I am not against your proposal. It does work in my opinion. There are just more questions that would also need to be addressed. Edited 14 hours ago by Rudra Edited to correct "here" to "her" and add "(exploded?)". 1
Bionic_Flea Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I don't know all the answers. I'm not a coder, let alone a dev for this game. Just because I present an idea, I think it's a bit unfair and ludicrous that I should have it fully fleshed out. But here you go: 1) How do you make the attack only work against Sally since the camera would do damage as part of its flash? There are other critters that are immune to damage until you do "X" (eat an inspiration, destroy a machine, etc.) Copy that. 2) What type damage would the flash do and how would Sally be immune to other sources of that damage? Special damage, untyped damage, flash damage . . . whatever . . . Why does the name matter? 3) How do you prevent the attack (the camera) from affecting other enemies? Same way they made the Reichsman power used in Khan (and Baracuda maybe?) only work against Reichsman. Copy that. 4) How do you overcome the problem of Sally still dives for taking damage preventing other players from taking her picture. (Or at least mollify said players for a flash doing damage that drives off the monster preventing them from also simply taking a picture for a badge they also want.) (Edit again: After all, she will still be taking damage and following her script per your proposal.) That problem currently exists. I'm not sure why you'd have to change that. Maybe just have Sally spawn on a quicker schedule or triggered every time someone gets a camera. 2

I'm not concerned with names. My concern is that if the damage type is energy for instance, how would energy attacks be kept from accomplishing what the camera is supposed to do. I was considering untyped damage, but I don't think players will be given access to anything that does untyped damage because we have no defense/resist against it and you can bet it will be collected to use against players in PvP. Anyway, I'm not trying lay everything on you, but we should come up with as many answers for our suggestions as we can. So I was hoping maybe you had answers or someone else did. I'll leave the other questions your response brought up alone though. Edited 14 hours ago by Rudra Edited to remove "So" and add "though" in same sentence.
lemming Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago If we don't do Bionic Flea's proposal, I'd say there should be a 1 in 20 chance if you attack Sally, the screen goes black and you wake up in the hospital. 3

lemming Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Also for your consideration: Quote You find the plank of a ship with a message carved into it which reads: Hey Lusca, Ugh! I am so lonely this year. I hate Valentine's Day! I don't want to see another hero again, like, ever. The last one to come by was abusive and we only met up like twice. Hasn't visited since. Figures, I don't know why I'm surprised, that's all that ever happens. Why can't I find a nice plesiosaurus guy to hang out with? Anyway, I'm officially striking against Valentine's Day, so if you are with me, come over. We'll capsize some fishing boats and eat until we can't move. -Sally Also: Lusca is a difficult girl to track down, let alone convince not to try and eat you in favor of reading a Valentine message from her girlfriend, Sally. However, she absolutely rocks on the turn tables, in case you've never heard her. We need a DJ Lusca! Edited 11 hours ago by lemming
Sakura Tenshi Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I honestly would suggest Sally just be invulnerable to all except a temp power you can get in Croatoa that uses the camera emote animation. So it's more that you snap a picture and she dives down.

You can't one-shot Sally. Sally is eternal. Someone may try to attack her, but she simply swims away. If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Or my character knows THE TRUTH...she's eying the people at the shore line and slowly making her way to them to eat them and only with your intervention, can she be stopped? Want a nice way to take her down? Use Brawl and call it petting 🙂

Possible nebulous canon of the Valentine's Day tips aside, with DJ Zero seemingly confirming the accuracy of this and the vigilante ending of the Shauna Braun arc explicitly involving Lusca eating a dude, the idea of Sally being a known danger to the waterways around Paragon City actually has more merit than I thought (even tweaking the interpretation to them eating the tons of fish in the holds rather than the sailors). Though now I want to know how exactly Sally wrote that. Did she use her teeth? Hold a jagged bit of wood or anchor with her flippers? And how did the giant lake monster learn English? Or the giant octopus, for that matter? And why is Sally's writing style that of a teenage valley girl? Global is @El D, Everlasting Player, Recovering Altaholic.
Techwright Posted 13 minutes ago Posted 13 minutes ago I'm good with the "as is" status, although...I'd be very much for receiving either a stuffed plesiosaur or a plesiosaur hide as a reward decor for my base. Entirely for proving Sally was real, of course. And by the way, no, no, no... spell check, "plesiosaur" is not "apatosaurus", nor is it "apple sauce"! (Seriously?) In what back alley was this spell check acquired?
