Relvinian Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Like I said, i been here for years. Mostly on the RP server. When someone on the rp server runs a farm many times its an open farm. I see on Excelsior farm looking for hitters/buffers over lvl 30. Or i see radio mission lfm over 20, or someone is looking for a hollows run for 3 more and i say ok, and they come back with do you have any other characters besides an MM? I told the person i don't, this is my only character on the server. True i have many on the rp server which is what i said. Then ghosted. My impression is not good. But tell me the other side so i can understand if there is one.

If it's any consolation, I don't care what you're playing, when I'm leading a team, so long as you actually contribute, (and even then, it doesn't have to be a large contribution, just don't sit there)... 5 1 1

When I see someone say something like "no MMs" I just 1 star and move on about my day. I'm 90% sure I can guess who that was but I'll avoid the drama. I don't know pug life but I do see requests in Excel's LFG that make me smh and these are players that are quite frequently putting together teams in LFG so I'm not surprised about your experience. I also see plenty of other requests that don't cause any head shaking so just keep at it. Get a good sample size and hopefully other experiences are better. Do use player notes to mark who you have bad experiences with and avoid them. 1 3

I'm curious why you felt the need to relocate if you were happy. One thing I didn't get from your post is what your personal goals are. I've played on all servers and I choose them according to my need and goals. I'd add that you have 1000 slots per server and you get 5 swap tokens per.,, week(? somebody please confirm refresh rate) so you can take toons across. My own personal experience is that Excelsior farmers tend to be uber-focused on their goals so you may not get the best response to meet your needs. Try something different. Maybe? I have been playing on Excel recently because I've been farming Cupid and that worked exceptionally well for me. You just never know what you’ll get. I’ve heard leaders of teams tell horror stories about their PUG teammates, and players tell horror stories about their team leaders. Team leaders being picky about the AT, powersets, or builds of another toon could easily be attributed to multiple bad experiences with other players who have played those kind of toons. It could be that the leader is attempting to build a specific team for a specific mission or purpose. There are many, many reasons possible. When I run a team, I usually am just concerned with gaining XP, what kind of toon or even what level of toon joined me is completely irrelevant. I don’t really even care if they participate. I also dont care if they go off by themselves and try to complete the mission by themselves. It doesn’t matter to me because the toons that I build can carry any team (yes, even defenders). I also don’t mind dying, not that I do a lot of that. LOL. Im not tooting my own horn here as much as I’m letting you know that I’ve had lots of bad experiences with PUGs. Players have done all sorts of crazy, selfish, disrespectful, and offensive stuff and have even actively tried to sabotage the rest of the team just for fun. I’ve teamed with control freaks, anarchists, noobs, incompetent players, foul-mouthers, insulters, little kids, and griefers. Nothing phases me anymore. On the other hand Ive played with a LOT of really great players. The kind you just want to instantly invite into your supergroup. And that is what I recommend you do… when you play with a great player, invite them into your SG or ask if you can team together again. Ask for times and days that they play and put each other in your global friends list. One thing I have noticed on Excelsior is that different times during the day host a different character of people in general. Adults and veterans who work tend to log in between 3-5PM PST on the east coast, 6-8PM PST on the west coast. After 8PM we start getting a lot of players from Europe logging in. Between Noon and 3pm PST a lot of middle school, high school kids log in after school. Retired players can play at any time. And never criticized what AT I was running, and I've run semi-petless MMs! I've even told them up front about that and they didn't care. You just had some bad luck and got the crazies first, stick around and you'll be fine, promise! I've never experienced it, but my two favourite AT's are MM and kheldians and some people won't team with them. It's strange but a well played MM or kheld can be an asset to a team, a badly played tank can kill everyone. But we get the blame. Excel has a high population so is more likely to have Hamidon raids nightly, MSR several times a day, daily labyrinth runs and regular iTrials. TF's and SF's are more likely to have enough people to form and farming is popular. There are plenty of people who ask for sitters and hitters without charging, so it's easy to avoid the venal players who think they are owed something because they take a small hit on the inf and XP from having people on the map. I'll occasionally run a farm on a new toon and open it up to all. I just ask people to chat and keep me entertained 🙂 2 1

Right click player. Choose *Notes* give them a 1 to 5 star rating and add any texts into the text box that you want. Make sure your display settings will show stars above their head on your options, and you are good to go. Uncle Shags Posted March 13 Posted March 13 There are two prominent pug leaders to be aware of on excelsior. One likes melee teammates, dislikes sitters, and is eccentric. The other one we don't talk about. They're mostly harmless. Note or ignore them. Other than that it's what you should expect in a crowd of hundreds of people - a mixed bag. But I've found the bag's got much less tricks than treats. We're old. Drama had lost its appeal. If you're the same you'll be okay. I do take a little issue with your generalizations, though. You have to know there's no server meta meanie zeitgeist, right? We're all just decent people trying to have fun while playing a game... 4

I've been on a team that I'm just waiting for the mission/TF to end so I can run for the hills. I've also been on a team that started as a Posi 1, blinked and suddenly we've done Posi 1 & 2, Synapse and Yinn and we're only stopping because we've been playing for hours and significant others are starting to give hairy eyeballs at us. I do believe that for every rude, overbearing or elitist player there are hundreds that will have fun, help and be a delight to team with. Sometimes, you'll get a team that never speaks, but moves like a well oiled machine of vets. Sometimes you'll get a team that never speaks and is a slog to run with. 💩 happens. If someone doesn't want to team with the AT you're playing? Move on. There's another team probably broadcasting in LFG that would love to have you along. Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore.
