Billbailey96 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I mostly just wanted to put that out there. I just don't like 'em. They twist and turn and its easy to get lost (mostly due to a lack of interesting landmarks), and they are hard to read on the map if the layout has multiple layers. Sewer maps have a similar problem, but they are usually not as vertical so its not too hard to find your way around. I am curious to see what map sets other people have problems with. 1 1

VortexMaster Posted June 6 Posted June 6 That one Arachnos Map, that is a huge open chamber, with multiple levels and elevators, lots of ramps, and dark. Having to do a kill most on that map is terrible! 4 1 3
Billbailey96 Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 Yeah Orenbega maps are cool visually but are a pain to navigate. 1

Any map with ramps can be a pain in the enemy placement puts them behind the ramps.
SuperJames Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Any map after running through the same map for the last four missions. Task forces that send me into one Council base or Crey lab after another really wear out their welcome. 1

There is a mission arc from Arbiter Daos, call breaking knives https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Arbiter_Daos#Stop_the_Knives'_assault where on the second mission it is a kill all with Knives of Artemis (who start stealthed and like to go back into stealth) that can be a massive pain on that map heh

Go0gleplex Posted June 6 Posted June 6 The tight tunnels, council/column base tunnels, and oranbega corridors are all unpleasant for me due to being right on the verge of triggering my claustrophobia. Jump scares...NOT cool man! 😉 lol 1 1

Cake room is at least a bit smaller, though really, I detest almost all kill alls that have mobs wandering. 1

Techwright Posted June 6 Posted June 6 On the positive side, I rather like the larger, more-open Atta mission cave. 1 1

I do with the tunnels could be made a little wider though, like the Atta mission tunnels. gameboy1234 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Non-Euclidean office buildings, which is to say all of them. I pretty much don't like any of the indoor maps to be honest. The OP is correct, the maps lack landmarks for orienting and navigation, and any real interesting geometry to just look at. They could all be improved frankly. 1

It was even worse back on live. Back then MM pets had collision, so 2-3 MMs in one of those purple cave maps was an absolute nightmare. Particularly if you had to escort an NPC out. 1
Clave Dark 5 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 We should replace all maps with that floating asteroid map, yeah. OverkillEngine Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) The purples tunnels and orangebagel are two huge offenders in my book of grudges. Too many twisty cramped tunnels and multi level rooms that don't play well with the minimap or the camera. If the tunnels/passages in both were forced to be wider/taller and far shorter and merely connecting one room to another (instead of being a significant portion of the entire map) and the rooms were at max 2 levels, they'd be more like an organic or arcane version of the warehouse maps which generally aren't obnoxious to navigate. Same deal with Council/5th Column maps. Shorten the tunnels, give them more vertical clearance for the camera, and maybe compress the infamous pool room down a level or two. Would be 99% less obnoxious to navigate. Hell, make three new rooms out of that room. Each floor its own room. Then you aren't throwing away the work or assets, just repurposing it. JasperStone Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I like the Sutter maps—good mix of indoor and outdoor. My favorite map is the sunken ship, where we fight Kraken tentacles ....can't remember the mission or story arc. Ukase Posted June 7 Posted June 7 23 minutes ago, JasperStone said: My favorite map is the sunken ship, where we fight Kraken tentacles ....can't remember the mission or story arc. That's the Sister Solaris arc, done after unlocking Alpha. I don't always enjoy the maps - but for me the worst map is the one for the last mission of Renault SF when you take out the eyeball. I recognize the intent behind them, to create a bit of geographical challenge for the player. It's all good. 1
Erratic1 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Cake room is fine. The room I dread is the lab one with the machinery you can blow up by hitting it. Definitely my least favorite room. 1
Six-Six Posted June 7 Posted June 7 The best solution I've found for cave runs is to team with at least 1 demon MM. The fiery demon butt in your face will take your mind off of the caves. 1 My Toons
High_Beam Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I have mellowed I guess. The Layer cake room still bugs me a little but I am over Oranbegan maps because I do tend to marvel at their design and in my head remind myself that this was once part of a city. The two maps I despise are the aforementioned Arachnos room of massiveness.
