Time might be good, but the sound of Time, I don' know why, but I don't like the sound of Time....

if I can choose to silence it I might want to try Time.

You can, it just takes a small investment of effort to do so.

I feel that way about the sound for the entire game so I play with it off unless I'm having an issue finding a clickie so this concern was never even on my radar lol.

Always liked time's sounds okay as well, but I can understand.  For me it is beam rifle, ice melee, and some others.  I know there is the work around, but would be nice to have an option for minimal sound fx right on the power, like we have minimal fx for graphics for a lot of them.

Thanks for this. I've almost finished up my Thugs/Time and really enjoyed the tankyness and damage. Not as versatile in it's toolset as my Necro/Dark, but a good all-rounder. Bruiser with Fury + Temporal Selection = Brute Lite (tm). Sometimes I'll toss it on the Arsonist if he's not particularly suicidal it is super buffed on a team and has extra longevity.

Question: Why not taking the Temporal Selection power? Doesn't it work on your pets? I would think some perma extra (18.75%) damage on the T3 pet would be nice.

Personal preference. I almost exclusively solo my masterminds and while that little damage bonus is nice it's not worth a power pick to me in most cases. I find I get much more mileage out of Distortion field, time stop or whatever. There are some builds where you could easily swap out the travel power or the attack power or something like that and pick it up without having any serious impact on the build, mostly just a matter of tailoring things to your own preferences.

Thanks for doing this.  Why slot Expedient Reinforcements with recharge in the Dire Wolf?

Since the build is using a personal attack I figured I might get a little mileage out of the damage set bonus (+3% of no damage is still no damage 😛 ) and it was more for slotting the A/D and E/D than the rech on the enhancements themselves. Really as long as you have the Expedient pet aura in there you can drop in any two enhancements of your choice that provide A/D and E/D

Finished up and fully incarnated my Time/Thugs last month. They did not disappoint. Time is really an awesome all around set that offers masterminds everything they need: heals, defense, buffs, be debuffs, controls...

I'm now working on a Beasts/Time. Currently at level 39 and performing very well. Good single target damage, surprisingly tough with pet IOs, thankfully. The pets have solid native defense to stack onto everything. I don't use fortify for defense, I leave it running for the crits.

Thanks for all the GREAT info in this thread.

Another thread discussed Thugs/Time in detail.

This character is my attempt to combine advice from both threads.

It's a Thugs/Time MM that focuses on recharge/defense/accuracy.

Major components used were:

'Positron's blast' for recharge/accuracy

'Blood Mandate' for excellent defense buffs (inexpensive to boot)

'Scorpion shield' for a massive boost to smashing/lethal defense

(must change alignment using Null The Gull in Pocket D, then do the Black Scorpion arc until defeating Dr. 'Q')

Farsight with Scorpion Shield provides incredible defense.

Haste + Chrono shift is (for all practical purposes) perma, allowing me to keep farsight and chrono shift running continuously.

I recently ran a mission with an empathy defender and we sailed through several missions without getting hit even once.

Our defense was consistenly in the 80% range to smashing/lethal and in the 40% range for AOE/Melee/Ranged.

The toon has just hit level 46, so Tactics and combat jumping haven't been added yet.

Performance is great without those powers already.

Tactics will help with team accuracy and defense (huge defense boost with Gaussian).

Combat jumping will help fill in final defense holes with the also excellent Blessing of the Zephyr.

(Additional 4 points KB protection should bring total KB protection to mag 😎

One final note... "Performahce Shifter in Chrono Shift and Stamina REALLY helps eliminate endurance issues.

Hope this helps some of you!

I have a 50 Bots/Time and I agree with you here. As you stated, I often solo on my MMs because on a full group it gets crowded (unless we're doing an all-MM thing). I find that I forget Selection is there and thus a waste of slots. However I also read the debate regarding KB and the SA proc and I have found that while the first two tiers of pets don't KB that often, they always seemed to do it at the worst moment. Then the bad guy falls, the bots chase him, I don't notice and it turns into a mess. I dropped SA into all three and the Burn patch immediately became my friend. However I also took Bonfire as my Ancillary and the lack of KB helps that too.

Either way, thanks for actually documenting all this work.

I'd be interested in looking at your Mercs unplayable Time build but I think I can only upload datachunks, the short export, for some reason, is it possible to get it please?

It's okay I have it now.

For me, you're not doing enough damage, damage is minus fight duration, it's a big deal, mowing down mobs.

Okay, all those procs in distortion look good.

Some players make their characters all about them, if it doesn't help them, they don't want it, their build advice to you will ofcourse be about making your character the best thing that helps them too if they ever team with you, because it's always about them.

Intuition Radial Paragon is a nice one too.  The damage boost is 33% compared to Musculature, but it will also give you enhancement to powers with hold duration, defense debuff, to hit debuff, slow movement, and it will increase range of all powers as well.  Basically, every aspect of Intuition Radial Paragon helps Demons/Time.

So is it true that " S/L defense will cover something like 90% of the enemy attacks in the game"? I though there was a lot more energy/psi/fire once you got in the 40s

If an attack has both a lethal and energy component, does defense for S/L protect you from the full attack (both components?)

I just may not have been giving S/L defense as much credit as a I should. My Bots/EA is softcapped for Range and Defense instead, so maybe I'm overdoing it?

(in Thugs/Time at least)

Is slowed response worth 4 shieldbreakers? it's not like you're going after positional power anyway right?

so it might be an optional slot to move around (2 if you a willing to give up that little bit of S/L resist from the 3rd shield breaker)

Love what you did, here is my take on it, I wanted to be able to stealth so I worked Superspeed in and I wanted combat jump earlier for better battle l positioning.

You can get another 7.5% percent recharge from basilisks in Time Stop if you give up the damage proc and a little more A/L res. Maybe it's worth it?

Does Destiny apply to your minions? I'm guessing so.  Rebirth +HP, Barrier and Clarion seem all good choices?

This is my personal preference for Slowed Response ...

Quote

Level 35:    Slowed Response

  • (A) Analyze Weakness - Accuracy/Endurance/Recharge: Level 50 (not boosted to 50+5!)
  • (36) Shield Breaker - Accuracy/Recharge: Level 27 (not attuned!)
  • (36) Shield Breaker - Accuracy/Endurance/Recharge: Level 27 (not attuned!)
  • (37) Shield Breaker - Chance for Lethal Damage: Level 10
  • (37) Achilles' Heel - Chance for Res Debuff: Level 10
  • (37) Touch of Lady Grey - Chance for Negative Damage: Level 21

Slowed Response: Shield Breaker (3.5 PPM), Achilles' Heel (3.5 PPM), Touch of Lady Grey (3.5 PPM)

  • 3.5 * ((90 / ( 1 + 59.11 / 100 )) + 2.27) / (60 * (0.25 + 0.75 * (1 + 25 * (11 * 360 + 540) / 30,000))) = 90% (Pre-clamp: 90.02%)

You get 3 guesses as to why (and the first two don't count) ...

I'm too dumb to even understand what that means, but i've learned to trust RedLynnr when it comes to numbers I'm too dumb to understand

I didn't realize that the level of a proc ever mattered in its effectiveness. I have been using solely attuned IOs

The level of the proc(s themselves) don't matter ... but the total recharge from the not proc slots is extremely important, since that will influence what the chance of those procs to happen will be.  In this case the 50+27+27 combo on the first 3 slots gets you within 0.03%(!) recharge enhancement of having "too much" recharge such that the proc chances for the procs falls below 90% ... which I'd call right on the nose.

So the lethal damage, -resistance and negative damage procs can be any level at all, but you do NOT want attuned for the acc/end/rech frankenslotting enhancements in order to make this combo work.

If you absolutely had to attune the Shield Breaker set IOs (for Level 10-30 Exemplar reasons) you'd want to have an unattuned Level 43 Analyze Weakness to go along with the attuned Shield Breakers so as to keep the procs slightly over the 90% cap (which then caps at 90% chance to proc).
