  1. Query: why a Tanker? Why not a Brute or Scrapper? 🙂
  2. In descending order from most to least important ... Stability and Longevity; I want to be able to rest assured that these servers will continue to be here for the next ten or more years. New Content; More things to do will always be good. New Zones; More places to go will always be good. New Powersets; More options for new alts will always be good. New Customization Options; More ways to make my costume and powers look like they "should" will always be good. Rework and Revamp existing zones and content; What was old, is new again - make the good better, and make the bad good.
  3. +1 If this is possible, Red Huntress would at lest like her arrows to be fletched in red ...
  4. Anything which would make it easier to automate your gameplay, so that your character can progress with minimal interaction by you, is a bad idea. So, sorry, -1 on this one. We've been wanting more customization for MM pets since Issue 6. Sadly, the Cryptic devs "hardwired" Pet appearances, and we can't even specify one or two colors to personalize our pets. Entirely different models would require a total rewrite of the code for MM pets, from the ground up. ... I've wanted shoulder pets for male characters since Live ... You don't need "well balanced teams". Any eight random characters should be entirely able to handle most TFs. Never going to happen. I personally think AE was a mistake. But that ship sailed years ago, and isn't coming back into the harbor any time soon.
  5. I don;'t know if you were here back on Live, but that opinionw as pretty near universal among the PvE-only community. Which, then as now, was significantly larger than the PvP community. It is literally impossible for you to have been "PvPing [...] with MMs since before I knew what CoH was", since I was playing CoH back in Issue 2 or 3 ... and MMs didn't exist until issue 6. Hell, my main on Live was a Mastermind. That's funny; I didn't mention PvP or PvE in my first response, at all. In fact, I responded on the assumption it was a PvE suggestion - and I stand by that response, even in a purely PvE environment: MMs do not need a buff. As for PvP buffs ... you can have whatever you can convince the devs to give you, without a peep from me ... as long as it doesn't negatively impact my PvE experience. The moment it does affect my experience that way, you can expect me to be in full opposition to it. The same as I'd expect you to be upset by a PvE-motivated change that negatively impacted PvP.
  6. According to basically everyone who doesn't PvP. Which in this game, happens to be the majority of players. ... Your dismissive response,t hough? Only reinforces the sterotype of bad PvPers. Good job on that.
  7. Not if it can't be done without affecting PvE. I like where the balance is at for PvE, right now.
  8. That would be an overall buff to Masterminds. It's the equivalent of asking for Blasters to do 20% more damage with their primary powers, ST and AoE alike ... "just because".
  9. Yes, it does. Badly. But it does work.
  10. The best thing would be a user-configurable number of characters to display. 5, 10, 15, 20, maybe even 25 (though past 15, I think you'd need to reduce the size of the character image itself).
  11. That depends on what you need the real-time clock FOR, Shananigunner. Let's say it's 10am, on a Saturday. I've sat down at my PC with my breakfast, and I want to play some City of Heroes. But, I have plans to meet some friends at 2 that afternoon, almost five miles away and across the river ... and I'm getting there by bicycle. So, allowing for mid-ride delays like traffic, etc, and wanting to get there a touch early? I have to be leaving no later than 1pm, and I'll need ~30 minutes (ish) to get dressed, gather everything semi-portable together - GoPro, wallet/keys/phone, pepper spray, tail lights, battery for the headlight, etc. So, I want to know when it's noon. If I don't have a clock on my desk or on my wall - and if my phone is charging, next to the lights, across the room? An on-screen clock I can keep my eye on would be SUPREMELY helpful in that situation. 🙂 NOTE: the above scenario is actually not all that unlikely; I do use my bicycle to get around, and one of the things I meet friends for is riding on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail .... the northernmost end of which is about 4.5 miles south of me, on the other side of the Merrimack River. 🙂
  12. To be clear, I mean "the entire process", not "what's left from here". "From here", I'd guess six months to a year, and won't be especially surprised if it slips by another six months beyond even there. The Devil, they say, is in the details. I would say that the heavy-lifting part of it was just to get NCSoft to the table at all, and agree to work out those details at all. Actually doing that, though? That's the part that will take time.
  13. Of course, that'd be better if it was a Supergroup, so they could all team up together ... 😄
  14. ^^^ Truth. Once, years and years ago, I wanted to run a game, on a Role-Play Online (rpol.net) forum using the tabletop rules for the Dream Park RPG. Problem was, it had been out of print for several years, and was hard to find even before that. So I possibly had the only copy among the quarter-million users of that forum. That means, I'd have to type the books up, all of them, into the forum. Major copyright violation, that. Buuuut, I contacted the publisher, R. Talsorian games, to see if there was something I could work out with them. They were amenable, so yayy! Buuuut, their license to the IP (based on novels by Larry Nivven and Steve Barnes) had expired. So, I had to contact them - out of the blue, total stranger and all - and ask for their permission. With some promises of links to the books on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc, they were also amenable. Buuuuuuuuut, the system itself was something RTG still used for other games, and wanted to keep under control. So, I had to work out a licensing contract that would specifically limit my ability to reproduce the gamebooks, thus protecting their copyrights, trademarks, and so forth. ... This was for a tiny little thing, a game that might have had fifteen or twenty people involved, on a tiny little corner of a forum, that would not be advertised beyond that forum, where all parties involved were 100% happy to be as accommodating as possible. A game that originally took two or three people a few months to create and publish. And it took a few months to get it in order. ... Now picture it's something that could involve hundreds of thousands, perhaps over a million, players. That will be talked about far and wide. That had a development budget of millions, and took a team of dozens years to make. I wouldn't be surprised if the process took over a year. I wouldn't even be especially surprised if it hits the two-year mark.
  15. Just append a roman numeral. So if you play Clawdude the Claws/SR scrapper ... the Brute can be Clawdude II, the Claws/SR Brute. 🙂 You could even play them off as being alternate-universe clones of each other, a la Into the Spiderverse ...! 🙂
  16. (a) you can't do that at level 15 or 20. Sentinels have decent defenses right out of the gate. (b) there is an opportunity cost. Every IO you spend on +Defense, the Sentinel player spends on +Damage and/or +Accuracy (etc). Not really, no. Sentinels, I believe, get the same damage multiplier as Corruptors.
  17. First question: other people (not being jerks). Second question: a team of players adapting to each other's Powersets, coming up with tactics and combinations on the fly that hopefully are greater than the sum of their parts ... ... in a casual-approach, laid-back fashion that is not desperately chasing the ultra-efficient-most, highest DPS and/or XP-per-second extreme.
  18. Well, nonprofits can definitely sell things. It's what they do with the money afterwards, that is constrained. Still, NCSoft isn't going to want that to happen. Free, they can maybe swallow. "The new blockbuster selling like hotcakes on PS4 and XBone" ... not so much, I bet.
  19. Why? Because it's more socially acceptable to call out a lack of participation that slows a team down as opposed to active participation with the same result? Because I bloody well say so, that's why. This thread is about calling people out for their choice of powers within their Archetype, and how they use those powers during play. It's about saying "that's not how _____ are supposed to be played". It is not about general misbehavior that is not specific to an archetype, a powerset, or even the use of a single power. It's not about leeching, griefing, harrassment, trash-talk, or any of the myriad other misbehaviors out there. Only builds, only decisions about which powers to take or not take, which powers to emphasize the use of during play. Kindly stay on-topic, thank you very much. ... whereas, as fractious as I can be on the forums, my in-game ignore list stands at 0 people; on the forums, my ignore list stands at 2 people. So, I look at those two snippets of your post, and all I can think is "One of these things is not like the other ..."
  20. That is likely well beyond the scope of what the all-volunteer, and fairly small, HC development team would be able to do. Plus, how exactly would you get the game to those players? Putting it on disk, means manufacturing expenses - and any deal with NCSoft is almost certainly going to preclude selling copies of the game. Same for digital; it works for PCs and Macs because those players can go to any old website, and download any old file(s) to their computer; consoles can't do the same (not for the typical user, anyway).
  21. Yeah, I've had that happen to me once. I think I clicked it before the whole page had fully loaded? Maybe? But generally, it works fine. 🙂
  22. Um. Clicking on the chat balloon DOES take you to the first unread post of that thread, since you last read it.
  23. I was more commenting on the general and nonspecific (seeming) attitude of "oh my god never upgrade it is the evil". 🙂
  24. ... you sound like a guy I ran into on 2K's forums, who complained bitterly - and at great length - that Civilization VI was not slated to run on Windows XP. XP for chrissakes ...!
