  1. It's not about "want" - It's about baseline effectiveness. I can't think of another armor set that *needs* to rely on a T9 or external powers to, for instance, survive alpha strikes...
  2. That maybe the case if you want to cap def/res, but practically every other armor set can stand on its own, without needing to dip into pools/incarnates/IO set bonuses just to make them functional...
  3. Here's the problem - you're basically admitting that the way to "mitigate" things while playing regen is to go outside of the powerset...
  4. IIRC, Assault has some taunt resistance. My comments were also kind of proposing those that are missing from regen be added, as well. I wonder if a mechanic could be added that kind of counters DoTs with an equal amount of healing in response to them, if the ability to outright end them sooner is not possible...
  5. Is there a specific counter to/for regen or healing debuffs, besides just possessing higher values of those two? What about some taunt or perception debuff resistance/protection? Maybe a mechanic that ends DoTs sooner?
  6. That's actually an interesting point; Maybe really play that up and give the set very high debuff resistances across the board...
  7. I can't imagine, even ignoring set bonuses or IOs in general, how regen comes out on top. The only edge case I can think of is in very low levels, where regen can rely on quick recovery and reconstruction, to simply and reliably keep your blue & green bars topped-up, since defense or resist sets aren't yet able to benefit from heavy slotting...
  8. No doubt. I think part of the problem is that absorb has been kind of strewn about all different powersets. Perhaps a simpler solution would be to have almost all regen powers grant extra hp, (temporary or as long as the toggle is active), in addition to having certain click powers trigger automatically at like half or quarter-health...
  9. I'm not necessarily against your idea(s), but I think one way to significantly improve regen's performance isn't to change the powers themselves, but to add a bit of a "reaction time" variable to enemies, so that they can't all hit you with their attacks simultaneously - adding an extra quarter-second or such before each enemy attack(s) would do wonders for surviving alpha strikes. Another option might be to have some of regen's click powers auto-trigger at certain points - like at 50% health, etc...
  10. This is why melee ATs need an AR, pistol, and beam rifle APP! Great design to boot!
  11. I'm not sure what you took from what you quoted, there, but updating/improving/adding to the existing game and its engine are not the same as trying to remake it using some new(er)/completely different engine... One need look no further than Champions Online to see what a similar dev team does with a newer and more robust game engine, and why many of us prefer CoH over it, (bugs, quirks, and all).
  12. Other issues aside, what I could get behind would be to take some of the earliest textures and cleaning them up a bit - you can clearly see a difference between the oldest face textures and some of the newer ones, for instance.

    Arhcetype Sets

The short answer is that yes, you can slot both sets and get the bonuses from them. The catch is that you must slot them into the same power to get the bonuses. Keep in mind that you can split them up between 2 or more powers, if you prefer the 2, 3, or 4-slotted bonuses over the 5 or 6 ones. Also keep in mind that you can only ever slot 1 of each unique ATO, (archetype-origin enhancement). Also note that, AFAIK, you can have both the regular and superior version, (but might want to double-check me on that before buying or attempting to slot them).
  14. I could be wrong, but I don't think it selects the actual door location until after you've selected a mission - all the game knows is the enemy group and the objective(s), with the location being set after you make your selection. I would rather a "rescan" option to select a fresh set of radio missions if you don't like what's presented...
  15. It is indeed cumbersome to have to re-arrange everything after a respec. I usually use the clear tray command to at least give myself a clean slate to work with. That being said, some sort of "remember power trays" and "load saved power trays" option would be great!
  16. There's also those times you get sent to one of the doors way north off in one of the small islands, in PI... But in general, anything over a mile makes me go "Ugh! Alright, let's go..."
  17. No. This is the circa-2004 CoH we all know and love. Let's not remake it, (read: destroy it), for the "modern audience".
  18. Looked over this thread a few times - what are the actual nerfs or changes that the OP is upset about?
  19. Just go to another trainer if it's that big of a deal for you or your character's backstory - Kings Row is kind of the hard-edged/gritty 80s/90s zone... TBH, Ms. Liberty and her Longbow's illegal invasion of a sovereign nation is more concerning, IMHO, and given that our characters can initiate violence against NPCs that are just sitting around, the police and any opinions you may have about them, are the least of my worries...
  20. I knew should have included the winky face emoji in that one...
  21. Ooh! And have the wolves' howl and pack mentality buffs affect other warriors!
  22. Sure, I could see a member of the warriors having a wolf or trained lion. Heck, give 'em the hawk, too!
  23. Scrappers can get Shadow Meld in Soul Mastery, which comes earlier than HOB in my proposed set, so a self +DEF is not without precedent. Yes, this would also deal damage as well, but all the various damage/buff/recharge values could easily be adjusted as needed.
