  1. Motivational speaking courtesy of the D.U.S.T. Rangers in First Ward. This is counter-insurgency training 101, ladies! You couldn't capture a taco stand! Bonus, Praetoria apparently has their own version of Dungeons and Dragons. A line from a random survivor in the First Ward compound. So you going to join our Warlocks and Wyrms game? We could use another player. Another one to avoid a double post: PPD to Longbow in The Hollows about Longbow's uniform choices. How do you feel about wearing colors that are strangely similar to that of a target? You don't really blend, you know that, right? Another one from The Hollows, Skull to his girlfriend, sounds like relationship issues. We're just star-crossed loves and the fact that your sister stole my car makes it pretty hard for me to keep seeing you.
  2. My DP/Electric is getting respeced so I can keep both Force of Thunder and Dynamo (which I initially skipped Lightning Field for not being useful). It worked out to getting Weave and my APP's a little later than I had hoped though.
  3. Also some procs causes the power's intended effect to not immediately work. For instance damage procs in Fearsome Stare will cause the feared enemies to retaliate immediately instead of cowering until they get hit. They'll cower after, but if you use it as an opener you might end up taking the alpha and on a squishy support role that's not always ideal.
  4. It drops back to 90%. Any +Res effects over the cap are basically insurance against anything that applies -Res, EDIT: Guess i'm wrong, since the math doesn't seem to check out from testing. Still more resistance does help you counteract resistance debuffs, so it doesn't hurt to have a little extra. Just probably don't prioritize it.
  5. Could be a hiccup with plot progression. After completing his story arc Lt. Harris is supposed to die or disappear. Possible that Ouro isn't putting him back where he belongs if you already did his arc. A similar bug happens in Praetoria where if you run Calvin Scott's story arc before Crow, Crow dies and locks you out of the first two chapters of Neutropolis' Crusader arcs.
  6. Nemesis Staff (Origin Bonus) from P2W vendor. Description reads "The Nemesis is particularly effective when wielded by Technology, Science or Natural origin individuals." I assume it's supposed to be "The Nemesis Staff is particularly effective..." The description for Crushers from the Destroyers group in Praetoria mentions they are high on "Fixodine" when every other source I can find calls it "Fixadine" including the old wiki which spells it "Fixadine" for all of the given descriptions of the Destroyers. Did these guys get the knockoff version? Their Hombre brothers appear to be on the same off-brand as well. Shredders too.
  7. Using this logic, perhaps if she were a Corrupter instead would be beneficial. Corrupters still deal damage, not quite as much as a Blaster mind you, but she would also have the Support powerset to help keep you alive, make you both stronger, and make foes easier to defeat. It might be a bit more difficult juggling support powers instead of full-on damage focus, but the two of you would still make for a great team like this and if she enjoys supporting you it would certainly heighten her interest and possibly keep her playing.
  8. It would be nice if a bunch of the underutilized zones just got repeatable mission contacts for the zone just to give you something to do while you're there if you want. Set them up like Borea or Meg Manson; a "defeat 30 of x group" in the zone for one option while the other sends you to a door for something like rescuing kipnapping victims, disabling hideouts by destroying supplies, or taking down some big shot who set up shop in the zone. I mean, it wouldn't be much and would probably be insignificant in the grand scheme of things but some zones like Boomtown, Eden and Terra Volta really need something to do if you want to hang out there for some reason. I do think there were plans to overhaul some of the zones at some point. Boomtown did get some construction near the entrance and the Council Base that popped up with the post-Praetoria War Walkers found only there (not counting Provost Marchand's missions). Still though, a lot of the old hazard zones got largely ignored and serve no purpose then and now.
  9. Random Resistance aggro in Imperial City "A is for apple, B is for kick you in the face!"
  10. I would assume using Group Invisibility or Superior Invisibility would easily let you waltz into an enemy group and set your mines off right on their faces while they're busy dealing with the Army and Terror. G. Invis would also mask your Force Field Generator so they don't aggro that too. Positioning is important with Traps, and having access to one of the best non-Hide Stealth powers in the game helps a lot with that. The real issue with Traps these days is that it's a set that calls for set up time which is something you won't get in the fast kills pace of the game these days on teams. You'd be lucky to get your Poison Trap off before the crowd is dead and it will be two spawns before it's ready to go again.
  11. Damn this post is reeeaaalll old. But if I could add some opinion. Don't sleep on DB/Fire. Sure it gives you some bad defenses and redraws mess with your attack chains (if you leave them on) but the offensive bonuses are well worth it, especially for a Brute with high Fury. While i'm speaking more from Tanker experience, Firey Embrace will provide a massive damage increase and Burn is always handy as an extra PBAoE for cutting down crowds. Things won't kill you if you kill them first, and when you're swinging your swords as a hot knife through buttery enemies they won't last long enough to do any significant damage. Add some KB procs to your AoE powers too. Avalance in Typhoon's Edge and Overwhelming Force in Sweeping Strike will also make a lot of crowds unable to fight back since they'll be on their asses even if you mess up the Sweep combo. Also the Ragnarok KD proc in the Targeted AoE of your choosing from your APP/PPP if you so choose.
  12. The return of Big McLargeHuge and Maymay Van Whooters perhaps?
  13. SoA Assault and Tactics have the same potency as Pool Assault and Tactics as if they were used by a Defender (both versions of Assault give +15% damage and Tactics give 10% To Hit) . Maneuvers is the anomaly here, 3.5% from Pool (both SoA and Defender value), while Widows get 5% and Spiders get 10% (Widows are likely lower due to Mind Link).
  14. VEAT version of Manuvers is more potent. Where a Defender would have a 3.5% base increase to all Defense, TTM from a Widow is 5% and TTM is 10% from a Spider. Now that is the stupid part.
  15. Range damage sets, I usually expect two standard single target attacks, a conical AoE, a targeted AoE, a variant of Aim, a third single-target strong blast, some kind of ability that focuses a control/debuff over damage, a sniper attack, and a massive damage AoE. Many follow that formula (Energy probably does it best) while some have variations or replacements. For instance Sonic Attack lacks a sniper and targeted AoE but gets a second (weak) cone and a second control power. Fire drops the status for another AoE. Assault Rifle drops Aim for no good reason (Ignite...) while offering another cone in place of the third strong attack.
  16. Try some of the Dev choice missions. Every month or so they pick a couple missions/story arcs made by players and showcase them in the patch notes (look for patch posts with "Dev Choice" in the title under Announcements). They're usually high quality writing and gameplay and not just endless farms.
  17. If i'm not mistaken, you can't normally activate tips inside Pocket D; most of the alignment tips won't let you open them in co-op, PvP or hazard zones. You're probably seeing an oversight in which the Whispered Rumor isn't subject to that restriction (it can be used in any non-PvP zone; I usually run mine out of Kalisti Wharf) and the mission can choose any applicable door in the zone. Why it would send you up the elevator is the strange part however as there shouldn't be any mission-enabled doors up there to begin with.
  18. *Glares at St. Marital's four doors for all warehouse related missions*
  19. I've sort of been in this rut myself. I never found endgame that appealing (not helped by endgame basically being nonexistent until close to shutdown) so I have most of my 50s somewhat abandoned after getting Alpha. Some exceptions but my 50s usually get shelved unless I find myself on a team lacking something (in which case I usually grab my Thermal Defender because she can seemingly fix any party she joins). Despite that I do occasionally run some content with a few of them. 15 50s means a steady supply of catalysts per day with a little effort. I have 10-15 more characters sitting in the 30s and 40s, and 10-15 more still in the 20s. I have a bad habbit of starting new characters then losing interest partway through (often after burning my spare cash on them). Sometimes I just poke around my character select for a minute or two deciding on someone to play. Often it just amounts to throwing a nonexistent dart. Sometimes it reinvigorates my passion for the character reminding me why they have merit, other times I wonder how I even got to that point in the first place.
  20. Preface: I haven't tried anything on the beta server and am merely going off what's in the patch notes. I have a DP/Elec Blaster on the live servers who is primarily a close quarters character. I really don't like the look of the change to Force of Thunder. I can understand that it's clunky for a sustain in the current state and not the best power for many builds, but I found a solid use for it through slotting to make it a useful sustain, damage and defensive power in one go. As it is on the live servers, putting a Sudden Acceleration KB>KD is almost necessary, but thanks to it being a sustain it can also take Accurate Healing. I have it slotted with TotN Negative proc and ES Smashing proc and run it as part of my attack chain after jumping in with Spring Attack. Without the accurate healing it loses one of the two damage procs making it less useful for crowd damage. I highly doubt Dynamo's damage aura would be able to replace that lost damage and would also likely make any survivors of the Spring Attack > FoT > HoB opening I run flee before I can drop Thunder Strikes or Havoc Punches (granted, I see HoB is getting fixed in this patch, so survivors should be less common). I don't really know though. I should test the new FoT and see how it plays but I honestly never had an issue with it in its current form and actually liked it for my playstyle.
  21. I got a bunch of these. Lets see. Doctor Disease, Necromancy/Poison Mastermind. A stab at a plague doctor who's more interested in spreading rather than curing it. Ebon Pyre, Claws/Fire Stalker. His powers are demonic in origin, but rather than the typical selling your soul trope the demons work for him. May have been inspired by Rodin from Bayonetta. Emerald Elegance, Thermal/Ice Defender. She's a bright and shiny fairy, but don't be fooled. She's also a pint-sized powerhouse and can turn her allies into powerhouses themselves. Incogmeato, Street Justice/Invulnerability Scrapper. You'd never guess this dapper looking fellow is actually a bull in a nice business suit. Maria Megavolt, Electric/AR Defender. My attempt at a steampunker girl. Who knew brass and steam could generate such electricity. Sonic Brainwave, Sonic/Mental Blaster. Being infused with psychic abilities left him a little unhinged, he prefers screaming at people through their minds rather than simple telepathy. Takes some inspiration from Psycho Mantis.
  22. All teams need a flooring inspector. When Blasters are out to lunch, Scrappers are the next best thing.
  23. I've still got more outfits to show off. Commander Voltage, Electric/Martial Blaster who's my attempt at a Speedster type hero who may also be a discount Synapse. Mighty Density, Kinetic/Energy Brute. A hulking mass of, well, mass. Chill Axe, Axe/Ice Scrapper. He just wants to chill. He's also my main argument for why Prestige Power Slide needs a "No effect" option. Phantasmal Virtuoso, Illusion/Dark Controller. With him, it's all smoke and mirrors. Thunder Funk, Electric/Sonic Defender. His electrifying beats are the life of the party.
  24. I think the one you're thinking of is the Resistance hat, under hats. It's pretty close to a bomber hat.
