As I said, if others are in agreement that they would rather sink *all changes to the set for Defenders only* than lose their full 20% debuff, I will just enjoy the buff on my Blaster and leave my only Sonic Blast Defender in the trash. As the devs said, the strength of the 20% debuff was keeping them from buffing the set, so, yes, calls to retain the debuff equate to calls to scrap the changes as far as what they’re willing to do. I think that’s stupid as hell but hey I’m compromising amirite. -

It isn’t a support set. It’s a blast set. And yes, a team vs a GM should be a part of the testing but a small part since it’s a small part of the game. DPS is the first and foremost concern of any set in the “Ranged Damage” category of sets. It’s in the name. -

I don't understand... where are the pylon kill times between live vs test. Those are needed. The debuff numbers are meaningless to show us if you aren't going to try to represent the DPS situation as a whole. -

Oh well guys. If it’s that bad let’s leave the Defender set unchanged. I’ll play my Sonic Blaster but keep the /Sonic Defender on a dusty shelf because its damage is completely horrible. Shrug. IMO there are easier ways to kill AV’s than demanding that a ranged damage set stay a bad damage debuff set instead, but what do I know 🙂 -

They both are substantial now on beta. On live the -res is slightly more substantial and the damage is complete trash. I choose door 2. -

Sonic Attack is on the subcategory “Ranged Damage” sets. It is not primarily a support set. It is a damage set. It should have the same opportunity to do reasonable damage as any other set. -

Slight correction though because Plant is OP even if you have no secondary at all. -
I disagree. I think what makes Power Booster Farsight broken is that it affects the caster. We don’t call Power Boosted Force Field Bubbles overpowered because they don’t self buff. If you look at every Support powerset you will see that powers that only affect allies are typically some of the strongest. If they got a self-Fortitude I would expect the values to be cut in half at least.

It functions a lot better since the last round of animation buffs. I’d be down for a slight radius increase on Ignite, an activation decrease on Flamethrower, and a slight cone increase on Full Auto though. I think that’s about all it still needs.

That’s why the testing should be on clear times for an entire TF or mission. Of course anyone can cherry pick the one AV fighting scenario where those debuffs make a big difference. But that fight is diluted by every other fight in the TF or mission. /Sonic Defenders are better at damage across the board now. Their -res changes need to be impactful for more than just AV fights for the sacrifice for better damage to be a bad thing. The worst ranged damage set in the game jumped straight into the middle of the pack guys. That’s not a minor buff. I for one am ecstatic. -

Man, the implications that this is some sort of farmer’s apocalypse when only a couple of aspects of farming are being touched… it’s too much. I’m admittedly having far too much fun watching the sky-is-falling demographic flailing. And make no mistake: I have *several* dogs in this fight. I farm every day and have over a hundred alts. BUT I read the patch notes and managed to understand that farming is nowhere near dead. -

I would be happy to test a /Sonic Defender solo on live before and after changes. Obviously that testing will be better after the changes. I’ll leave the team test to you guys. If it can be proven that completion times are increasing post-changes, you guys will have a good argument for tweaking the set further just for Defender’s. -

Well, the devs are saying that. And they have the design vision so they’d be the ones to know. And it seems pretty ludicrous to try arguing the reward/risk ratio isn’t obscene in AE so their position seems reasonable to me.
