  1. To be a single target monster that slays AV’s (not including whatever Controllers and Masterminds do), I find you typically need 4 single target attacks to make a complete no-pauses attack chain with your build’s most powerful moves. A few things could get away with 3, like maybe Claws or Dual Blades Scrappers. Some attacks won’t fit with this thinking. For example, Tanker Char with 6 damage procs is not going to fit reliably into a 4 attack rotation with its 32 second recharge. When I plan out an attack chain, I track each attack’s recharge vs the sum of all other attacks’ arcanatimes. As long as the former is less than the latter for each attack, you’ve got yourself a chain. I try to have 2 AoE attacks no matter what. If the character is not intended to be a single target monster and has less than 3-4 single target attacks, it’s likely intended to be an AoE monster and likely has 4+ AoE attacks in that scenario. Unless you’re solo’ing AV’s (S/T needed) or farming (AoE needed), the TL;DR is play how you want and you’ll do great.
  2. Super Strength is already great. Phenomenal damage counterbalanced with a little baby crash. It is admittedly not “the best” set across the board but not every set can be that so that’d be a silly point. @PeregrineFalcon can we get the official ruling from Judge Joe.
  3. Well, I for one would slot Incandescence about 100x more often if I could just get the 80% +healing without the piss-off-most-teammates TP…… Sure there are tactical times to TP to objectives or AV’s or herd points that won’t piss off many people, but those opportunities don’t necessarily come around every 120 seconds so you can’t reasonably perma it without the permission of your friends.
  4. AoE holds and mayyybe Mass Confusion are the only ones that should be considered for slight recharge reductions so definitely hard disagree there. AoE stuns? Knockdown patches? No and no. Seeds of Confusion really needs its recharge increased. The fact that you can make powers like Chrono Shift or Heat Loss perma at all is kinda insane… Clearly you’re in the camp headed by Luminara that massively undervalues support sets because the majority of those would be ridiculously overpowered with the slightest additional buff at this point. In terms of powerset potency, Cold Domination, Time Manipulation, Kinetics, Radiation Emission, Trick Arrow, Nature Affinity, and Storm Summoning at the least are already in “can receive zero additional buffs without being completely broken” territory. Seriously are you actually having trouble on these sets or are you just hungry for the next stage of power creep?
  5. I sincerely don’t understand this post. Are you implying there aren’t extremely good reasons for powers like Phantom Army, Carrion Creepers, Heat Loss, Overgrowth, Benumb, Farsight to have far longer recharges than literally anything in a blast or melee set? I can only think of a couple of cases where I could possibly get on board with what your posts seem to be implying. Liquefy, maybe AoE holds… dunno what else off the top of my head. To the extent your second post is technically true, that truth seems very well justified by design…
  6. I don’t understand what you think the point of responses on threads in this forum are for if not to (1) agree/disagree if things are good ideas or (2) offer alternatives/variations. If you can only tolerate constant affirmation and validation, imho you might be in the wrong place.
  7. I have discord, but I despise being forced to use it because (1) I love music (#1 hobby) and enjoy listening to it daily. No, I don’t consider playing music with people talking over it to be listening to music. (2) If I don’t know you and trust you, why would I want your voice in my ears. (AKA discord with best friends is bearable. Discord because a random group wants to use it for a task? Yuck.) (3) It’s basically social media. (4) Anxiety. (5) More reasons I can’t think of on the spot. In most cases, nobody here cares. There isn’t any content hard enough to necessitate it. The exception is PvP. This is the number one reason I won’t PvP anymore. Because when Live CoH kicked the bucket, I realized that games like GW2 and ESO literally have constant casual arena-style PvP queueing all day long, and nobody ever asks you to get on discord unless you’re trying to join some elite squad of bigtime hotshots. Here? The assumption is basically that you either get on discord (and usually one very specific discord), or you have zero opportunities to engage in team arena-style PvP. I used to get over it and try to Ventrilo periodically on live, but nowadays that barrier to entry is simply too high.
  8. I would assume a debuff resistance proc (whether it’s regen debuff resistance or something else) would be more likely to function as either (1) a set bonus or (2) a “for 120 seconds [if not in a toggle or auto]” than as a PPM type proc but yeah.
  9. If you don’t need to meet a particular S/T DPS threshold to solo AV’s/GM’s, an AoE oriented tanker seems like the easiest thing you could possibly play.
  10. If you can find one time I have ever claimed to be a developer, you can have my stuff. Unfortunately you created this narrative in your own mind, apparently to cope with a crippling aversion to disagreement, so I’m not worried. I suggest you learn to receive negative feedback without inventing wild tales of imposter GM’s.
  11. Ok I’ll bite… how on earth have I pretended to be a dev? Yes I am completely unaware of this.
  12. Easy there champ, we’re just making conversation. The whole “uh, are you a dev? If not please go away unless you’re going to affirm me” point is really weird. I don’t mind your set though it seems redundant. Shares +recharge, S/L res, and F/C res with Preventive Medicine. And then you talk about 7.5% +recharge not stepping on LotG‘s toes like it’s a new idea as if you are unaware of Panacea. So it seems like it should be tweaked, but your head’s in the right place with the +damage and +E/N res. I like Seraphim’s idea for the proc a lot.
  13. It’s plenty worth it under one condition: you don’t have a hardline arbitrary aversion to using occasional inspirations earned in combat. No email chaining or purchasing, just occasional regular drops will cut it. If using a single small inspiration every few minutes as a stopgap in +4x8 content is a serious dealbreaker for you, yeah, stay away. Otherwise don’t listen to the naysayers, you’ll be fine. Literally only time my Ice/Regen Brute’s current build has died in +4x8 content was when people on the forum ordered me to use no inspirations for testing purposes. It has over 100% +recharge, no extra defense/resistance bonuses outside of those you normally get from slotting purple sets and ATO sets, and I find it very effective and fun. In general, beyond Regeneration, this is a rule with many players on the forum. When they say something is bad, they’re saying it is bad if you share their aversion to basic occasional inspiration use. Best to keep that in mind and figure out where you yourself stand.
  14. I don’t really have any problem making Masterminds play effectively, I just find the feel of the playstyle to be unappealing. Sitting and waiting for your pets to get the job done instead of just wrecking shit yourself like every other AT. Having to constantly babysit your T1’s to make them effective. Lagging behind every other AT that can more elegantly super speed around maps with zero pauses. Etc. It’s not hard for me to play at +4x8 with Masterminds and get jobs done. It’s hard for me to have fun doing so.
  15. Thinking Preventive Medicine and Panacea suck… kelika always on some other shit
  16. Sir, this is the Blaster forum
  17. The implication translated: some top tier sets need to be buffed. Yeah no they don’t.
  18. Think a more equitable balance between the AoE confuse powers would be: Mass Confusion - 180 second recharge vs Seeds of Confusion - 120 second recharge OR (IF max targets is adjusted down to 10) 90 second recharge Not sure about Synaptic Overload offhand at the moment. But yeah, I don't think you get to peg Mass Confusion to Seeds of Confusion as an argument without agreeing to look at whether or not Seeds of Confusion is actually balanced in the first place. Which it's obviously not 🙂 Come at me. All this being said, my newish Mind Controller is already slayin' anyway 🙂 pop 5-6 procs in Terrify and juice Mass Confusion with recharge bonuses you'll be fine 🙂
  19. Mercenaries is indisputable. I cannot dispute Assault Rifle too hard - it's up there... but I am going to play devil's advocate just a little bit and dispute your rankings of worst. From worst to best: 1. Mercenaries 2. Kinetic Melee 3. Force Field 4. Assault Rifle
  20. I mean I did jokingly call someone a n00b right after they waltzed in and loudly called everyone ignorant, so maybe that counts as ridicule or mockery.
  21. They're all ordinary range already. Play Archery/Energy with Clarion Radial though if you wanna go real wild 🙂
  22. I like the suggestions for Mesmerize and Telekinesis. Maybe Terrify too. Terrify is already awesome though so could do without the debuff. Don’t like the other suggestions. The Confuse idea is over the top and the Lift idea is just arbitrary. My 2 inf. Add Fear triggering Containment as critical for Mind Control. I cannot overstate how powerful the reverse repel effect is either and think that would be enough for one round of buffs. In general I would oppose throwing such a potent effect around willy nilly, but Telekinesis is the perfect candidate. (1) not on a set that needs no help, like say Water Blast Whirlpool, (2) high end cost to mitigate the effect’s potency, (3) revives a long busted power.

    /regen

I still maintain that Regeneration is fine in my own little world where people are allowed to use inspirations, but, yes, we did verify that it doesn’t quite cut it if you both (1) are asked by forum members not to use inspirations and (2) built your character under the assumption that you might be allowed to use inspirations (no defense bonus chasing nonsense, build for offense) Considering this only happened once, Regeneration is still dandy to me. But yes, it did not do as well on this particular test as some sets would. Anyway, whatever Chelsea Rorec had to do to her build, I for one don’t want to know. Building in all that extra set bonus mitigation would mean less offense, and I don’t want that shit.
