Rewards for players with low toon count
Luminara replied to Laucianna's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
A small amount continually added. You're comparing a single 5 gallon bucket of water dumped into a swimming pool (Aether obtained during Halloween) to a garden hose trickling 5 gallons per hour into the pool 24/7 (Aether obtained from vet rewards). Yeah, no, that's not good for the economy. You literally chose not to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain those Aethers. And now you're asking for a handout and trying to spin it like you were prohibited from participating so you can justify it. The game didn't deny you the opportunity, you chose to turn it down. Don't ask for a welfare program after refusing every chance to earn something. -
Focused Feedback: Epic / Ancillary Power Pools
Luminara replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
That much endurance for a low damage AoE with a piddling 10% chance to Stun is batshit, even if it is in a *PP pool. For 35.62 endurance, that thing'd better cook my dinner and do the washing up. -

Rewards for players with low toon count
Luminara replied to Laucianna's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
What would prevent players from farming veteran levels the way they farm characters? Wouldn't that have the opposite effect from what Aethers were intended to create, increasing inflation rather than controlling it, as it further incentivizes farming and thus inf* accumulation? -
The zone layouts are all unpleasant to navigate if you don't use flight. Too much backtracking and zigzagging to get from point A to point B. I can level a character from 1 to 50+3 without ever talking to any of the Detectives in Paragon City. Can't do that in the Rogue Isles because content is bottlenecked or locked behind newspaper missions. The color palettes are reminiscent of the sewer maps. You're rarely the bad guy. You're misunderstood, or sympathetic, or a bumbling idiot, or doing good just to thwart a greater evil... always an excuse to paint the character in a less unsavory way. And when you are the bad guy, it's typically petty. Not petty in the "small time" sense, but immature and spiteful. Too fucking many escorts. Having to stop and re-acquire the hostage every few goddamn seconds is one of the major annoyances for me, and there are more of them red-side than blue-side. I can avoid escort missions entirely as a hero/vigilante. I can't play for an hour without having one shoved in my lap as a villain/rogue. EBs and AVs are more common, and they're in story arcs instead of *Fs, which gives the impression (for players who started out in CoH) of "needing" a team... and the lower population makes it more difficult to find teammates, which leads to a "why bother" sentiment that reinforces the whole problem. In the end, you're still a lackey. You're not a contemporary of the Big Bad, you're not part of the Sinister Six or the Legion of Doom, you're just a lieutenant at best. You rob banks, ransom hostages and burn books for 50 levels so you can... get a job.

Binds: what binds do you have in your toolbox?
Luminara replied to wjrasmussen's topic in General Discussion
/bind INSERT "camdist 17" That sets the camera to my preferred distance. /bind [ "suppressclosefx 0" /bind ] "suppressclosefx 1" Those turn most toggle effects (for your character, not your teammates, not strangers, just you) on and off. Turning off toggle graphics only works if you have suppressclosefx # set to a number closer than the camera. I use suppressclosefx 20, and I play with the camera at 17. When I press ], my toggle effects are suppressed. When I press [, they're re-enabled. /bind PAGEUP "++showfps" Turns the framerate monitor on and off. /bind PAGEDOWN "++netgraph" Turns the netgraph on and off. /bind b "powexectoggleon TravelPower$$powexectoggleon Sprint$$powexectoggleon Power$$powexectoggleon Power$$powexectoggleon Power" I bind b to all of the toggles I can, so I can turn them all on with repeated presses of a single key. Binds start at the end and work their way to the front sequentially, so I always put my travel power in last. I usually take Infiltration, so I also toggle on Sprint when I'm "powering up". /bind v "powexectoggleoff TravelPower$$powexectoggleoff Sprint" One key to turn off my travel powers, conveniently bound to the key next to the one that turns them on. /bind z "nop" Z's default bind removes auto-fire. That annoys me. /bind Shift+mousewheel "target_enemy_next" Faster than Tabbing through spawns. /bind mousechord "nop" Turns off running when both mouse buttons are pressed simultaneously. That also annoys me. I use mouse buttons 4 and 5 (the thumb buttons) for rotating bind files when I have location-targeted powers (powers that require you to click where you want them to be). The following is my Storm/Storm corruptor's rotating binds. It's a lot less frustrating to play when you don't have to hunt for a dinky little mouse pointer... when you're over 50 and struggling to see even with reading glasses. button4 "powexec_location target Storm Cell$$bindloadfilesilent e:\Games\Homecoming\settings\live\five.txt" <-text file named cell.txt button4 "powexec_location target Category Five$$bindloadfilesilent e:\Games\Homecoming\settings\live\cell.txt" <- text file named five.txt button5 "powexec_location target Freezing Rain$$bindloadfilesilent e:\Games\Homecoming\settings\live\nado.txt" <-text file named freeze.txt button5 "powexec_location target Tornado$$bindloadfilesilent e:\Games\Homecoming\settings\live\freeze.txt" <-text file named nado.txt -
Are Sentinels as bad as I'm hearing or is it trash talk?
Luminara replied to ShadesofDawn7971's topic in Sentinel
Whoever spouted that nonsense is an imbecilic twat nozzle. IF a direct 1:1 comparison of sentinel and blaster attacks were applicable (using attacks not modified for the sentinel archetype (some are, some aren't)), sentinel damage is only ~2% below blaster. Example: https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=sentinel_ranged.assault_rifle.burst&at=sentinel https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=blaster_ranged.assault_rifle.burst&at=blaster Example: https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=sentinel_ranged.electrical_blast.charged_bolts&at=sentinel https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=blaster_ranged.electrical_blast.charged_bolts&at=blaster Circling back to the emphasis in the second sentence, sentinels aren't directly comparable to blasters because they weren't designed to be armored blasters. Sentinels were designed to be ranged scrappers. That's why they have a 1.1 modifier for both Ranged_Damage and Melee_Damage, and Vulnerability (intended to simulate critical hit damage over time), and scrapper target caps. Don't look at the fact that both sentinels and blasters have ranged attacks and think they're directly comparable. They aren't. -
Remove Containment from Controllers
Luminara replied to Blackfeather's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
For reference, blaster Ranged_Damage is 1.125. They're not going to buff controllers to 1.1 Ranged_Damage (0.55 currently), and anything less would be a nerf. If you want blaster damage, play a blaster.- 22 replies

There's sound during cutscenes when I play. It's this sound...

You'll have offer more enticement than that to get me to stop playing with myself.

I do have several level 50+ sentinels, but it's not because I prefer sentinels over other archetypes. Sentinel blast sets have some interesting variations on otherwise standard powers. Like dominator Assault sets, they keep the game feeling fresh when I think I've explored all of the possiblities. Anything with Trick Arrows. I've diversified my interests in the interim.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law
Luminara replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
This mobile platform does not stand alone. We stand with Shepard-Commander. -
@Jimmy just shut down one RMT trader who was trying to get his/her account back, so their decision NOT TO ENCOURAGE RMT hasn't changed. Oh, and IBTL.

This game is not as new player friendly as many of us think it is
Luminara replied to FFFF's topic in General Discussion
No-one bothered to check the video maker's Youtube channel? None of you noticed that this guy's played just about every MMO that exists and can't be as incompetent as he acts in that video? That the whole thing is deliberately skewed to portray Co* in a bad light because that's how this guy makes his living?- 51 replies

Picture doesn't load properly when posting costume design
Luminara replied to Echo Night's topic in Help & Support
That looks like file corruption, not the forums mucking up your uploads. Check your HDD/SSD for errors, check your network (unshielded cabling or failing NIC if wired, interference if wireless), and scan for malware. -

Luminara replied to Echo Night's topic in Help & Support
The forum has its own built-in basic editor. That menu is accessed via Ctrl+right-click. That comes up when you select Edit Image. You apparently have a third-party tool installed, as a browser extension or a program you installed (or malware installed for you), which is stepping in and acting as a go-between when you're attaching pictures. There is no "clipchamp" when I post, and if you've seen my post history, you know I'm a .gif-spamming .jpg whore. Disable or uninstall that before you do anything else, because it's not part of the vanilla forum experience and it's impossible to troubleshoot with a variable like that. -

Luminara replied to Echo Night's topic in Help & Support
If it's only when posted, the post editor may be downscaling the picture. Control+right-click and select Edit Image to see if it's trolling you. Other possibility is the browser downscaling or converting, and that's something you'll have to figure out for yourself. -
Not a bug. The game saves your character's buffs/debuffs/summons for several minutes to provide resiliency in the event of disconnections/crashes.
