  1. Live started as 8 Slots per Shard. City of Villains expanded that to 12. They then started selling additional Slots, up to a maximum of 48 per Shard around 2009'ish (when I stopped playing). I've heard someone claim that they eventually upped it to "unlimited" purchasable Slots per Shard, but I never saw that personally. If that were the case, I'd suspect that "unlimited" was actually the 1000 we see now, where everything once purchased with real money has now either been unlocked entirely or put behind in-game Inf sinks.
  2. I'm pretty sure the Market Teleporters were always limited use; both the Day Job and the purchasable variety directly from the Market itself. I'll straight up admit to not knowing with any certainty, though. I scarcely touched the market back then compared to now. The SCoRE/Homecoming changes to the market have made it infinitely more appealing than the Legacy disaster. The Pocket D, Base Teleport, and Mission Teleport are all unlimited use once purchased on a per-character basis, but with 1/2 hour recharge timers on them. The Day Job Base Teleport is, understandably, limited to charges gained by logging off near a Base Portal.
  3. Wait . . . then aren't ALL Toggles "underwear?" (Sorry; I'm being a bit tongue-in-cheek again. Still this is the first I've heard of that term. Been playing since Issue 0, with a hiatus of a few years a while ago. I guess I've just never been in the sort of social circles which use that term.)
  4. Hell . . . maybe make the actual Pet Summoning Power do that. If the Pet(s) are still alive when activated, Teleport them to the specified location. Yes, that would throw the Power on to Cooldown, but I'd be okay with that as a potential trade-off for the feature.
  5. EDIT: Ok, so a little embarrassing. I discovered that what I said originally in this post may not be accurate after attempting to do some research. In my meagre defense, it HAS been about 20 years since I took anything resembling a chemistry class which involved this particular subject matter. I work in a kitchen these days, which may be applied chemistry, but it seems that I should brush up on my laboratory chem work before saying stuff like this in public. Below is the original text, left for posterity: I always kind of felt that Acid Arrow should ignite the Oil Slick. I mean, depending on which type of acid you're using, you can get an exothermic reaction when combining it with a lipid matrix. Since the type of oil isn't specified either, we could potentially surmise that the two could react with one another to ignite.
  6. (ok, Real Talk for a second here . . . are "Underwear Toggles" actually a thing?! Like some kind of gamer slang for S/L Resist Toggles or something?)
  7. I have plenty of underwear toggles. I usually leave them turned off, though. They just tend to get in the way.
  8. Ok, where's the "Sympathy e-Hug" Reputation option? "Sad" isn't reassuring enough, and "Like" and "Thanks" just kind of give the wrong impression . . .
  9. ew. 10? No. Ew! I'd need 13 accounts just to get to where I am now in that case, and another 20 to reach my intended goal.
  10. Alright, so . . . a Sonic Boom Melee Set? I think one of those is kicking around somewhere. Search-Fu: ACTIVATE! . . . hmm. Seems the idea has been suggested quite a few times, but no one has mapped one out yet. WELL THEN! Let's see . . . Short animation times, and I think we should be able to recycle a few existing animations for it. Stuff like Handclap is a no-brainer, but we could also use the animation for Jab and throw a little expanding bubble at the point of impact. Probably also have a pretty active AoE component to most of the attacks, even if it's just a minor AoE Knockdown or -Res Debuff. There wouldn't be anything like Hurl, and I think that's a-okay. Overall the damage would scale on the lower side, but being -Resistance it would clearly benefit from self-stacking on targets and bringing friends in to participate. Does that sound more like what you were hoping for?
  11. I think we need to give this set a little MORE of a separate identity than just "Super Strength, but without Rage." So, let's spitball a little here. Maybe a Wrestling Set? Once that Vectored Knock code gets developed, we could see stuff like a Suplex Power which throws an enemy over your character's head. Maybe a signature Power which is a One-Handed Grapple: Toggle it to grab an enemy with your left hand, applying an extreme magnitude Hold, and dragging them around the battlefield with vectored Repel at -180 degrees. But the trade-off is that any of your two-handed Powers get a debuff for the duration of the Toggle and you move at a slower speed. Additionally, having the Grapple Power active on a valid target also enables some other Powers! Beat-Down Power: Short cooldown punch which hits your Held Grapple victim mercilessly. Toss: Throws the victim toward your target (using Knockback), simultaneously casting an invisible projectile which causes Knockdown to any enemies along the projectile path, and does AoE Smashing Damage at point of impact. Choke Out: Self-Hold, but deal Extreme Damage Over Time to your victim.
  12. Although, the joke used in the original post of this thread does sort of remind me of the Commissar from Warhammer 40K. There's an idea to replace Serum! Execute: Kill one of your own Soldiers to cause all the others to HURRY THE HELL UP!
  13. I believe Doc_Scorpion was referring to how to unlock them, Munki. Which, other than Wentworth's teleporter, were account-wide purchases with real money. I do like that spending an hour in Pocket D unlocks the VIP Teleporter. I'm less keen that parking by the Base Portals doesn't unlock the Base Teleporter Power, though. Not on its own, anyway; it unlocks the Temporary Base Teleporter Power, and only after you have Patroller/Criminal earnt too. Unless there were changes to those Powers after 2010 that I'm not aware of. I stopped playing Legacy around that time.
  14. I'd be quite happy if all "Teleport to spot" Powers were given the Ouroboros Portal treatment, Doc_Scorpion. If that were the case, I could see my suggestion in this thread being total overkill. But I've not heard any talk from the Homecoming Team discussing the possibility of making all Zone Teleport Powers in to Party Buses. Would someone care to make that thread? I'll +Rep them for it.
  15. OH! Dur. I no-brained myself there. One Account is fine: There are five Shards, each with 1000 character slots. There's egg on my face.
  16. NEW SOLUTION! Add thirty additional Shards! (This is NOT a serious suggestion. If only because some people will make unplayed Alts to camp names on all the servers anyway, never mind the division of the playerbase population.)
  17. You also make a fine point, Munki. I still felt it was worth calling it out, though. If only for my own sense of satisfaction.
  18. Their prices tend to range from 3 million to 8 million, with the occasional dips below 2 million or above 10 million.
  19. Yeah, law of averages and all that. But that reminds me . . . If I crunched my rough numbers correctly, one would still need three 1000-character accounts to do every possible Power Set combination. That's over 250 characters per each of my accounts. That's gonna take some doing! Especially since I'm the sort of player who needs each of my characters to be at least marginally roleplayable. This calculation, however, included Tankers, Brutes, Scrappers, and Stalkers, and Defenders and Corruptors separately. I know some folks would just lump those together due to the similarity in Sets.
  20. My first roll! Mutant, Tanker, Ice/Savage eh. I already have a Savage/Ice Scrapper. Close enough.
  21. Very true, Vanden. But I figured with the recent surge of interest in the topic again, I'd try to casually intimate some ideas which may not have been on the drawing board yet. It is one of those topics which leaves me very perplexed, though. Several of the people who don't like fast travel seem to invoke declarations that the addition of optional options will somehow "cheapen" the game for every player.
  22. Hmm, now that we have an Off-Topic board, would this be more appropriate there?
  23. Well, geez. Now I feel like I need to code this in Java or something . . . dangnabbit! Honestly, though; thanks for writing this up! Should offer some fun opportunities.
  24. Or 30,000,000 with Boosters, when the winds blow in that direction.
  25. NICE palette, Cutter! Very nice. Not so sure about the visor, though. That might be a good place to throw in a splash of red, purple, or pink.
