  1. certain out-sized AoEs, esp with Mez or other factors that buck the traditional dmg/rech ratio (TW is calculated w/o Monentum), will prefer Core. but yeah, Radial usually for Brutes.
  2. with so much PBAoE dmg potential in Fire/Fire, i would focus on Melee/AoE Def over Ranged. you can get both to ~40%, have upper 50% to S/L Res, mid 40-50% EN or FC (cause melee=ouch), and still way more Rech than needed (55% before Haste) for all the great attacks in Fire/Fire. have a look at Fire Shield or Charged Armor especially ...i know it's not the easy-mode Def of Scorp, but there's enough +Def sets avail to still nearly softcap & allow your EPP/PPP to shore-up Res for blapping. plus, Bonfire - so good in a pinch. also not noticed this mentioned yet... 22% to-hit for full-dmg fast snipe on top of all that is very worthwhile too, as ST dmg is shallow for these AoE-heavy sets. sorry if this might derail when you're feeling close to finished on your build, but figured i'd put it out there as possible & an approach which works exceedingly well.
  3. oops. Core for your AT & 2ndary (not a heavy click set) ...unless you have very few attacks, and/or so poor Rech as to have gaps, and/or very poor End ratio as to necessitate rationing attack speed regularly. (thx to Uber)
  4. if your build is working for you, & all you want is to improve the 1.89/3.09 End Ratio (out of Adapt)... maybe move the End Reduc slot off SJ, into Weave/Manu. could pull the Acc slot off DNA.Siphon (as the buff portion doesn't req a to-hit check), & into Weave/Manu. toss Cremate's Acc/Dmg/End ToD into in Health with a Miracle unique. then i'd look at turning the Aval proc from Genetic (as PPM in toggles isn't so great - not bad, but not great - & it's only KD), into End Reduc (as Genetic is your highest source of toggle drain). 1.72/3.34 with those changes. 1.67/3.4 with +5'd End Reducs & the 2 P.Shifts 1.67/3.74 with Acco i like to have a 1/3 ratio or better, but w/o changing your build A LOT... those get ya closer.
  5. for /Elec, you should already be at/near the Res cap for SLENFCP ...so Melee Core wouldn't add anything more than +Regen to your overall build stats (aside from Tox Res). Radial would help boost Def along with the +Regen.
  6. the hardest-hitting attacks in the game are Melee, so Def.Sweep still covers these no matter what dmg type they are (Ranged & AoE tickle in comparison). plus Lethal tends to carry -Def with it, so increasing the buffer on Melee Def helps to counter -DDR. as for the OP, it looks to me your sets are kinda unfocused... leading to nothing really shining in particular, which can give you that "wet napkin" outcome. maybe come back to the build with fresh eyes & try aiming for specific goals one at a time? build for Melee Def, then start over & build to cap S/L Res, again for E/N Res, go from a clean sheet one last time & cram all the Rech you can into it. once you're done, pull up all of em at once & see what works together in an over-all build. post that new build & we can help you fine tune it.
  7. mine only has a bit under 130% Rech. at L50 with Agility i use Strike/Focus/Follow-Up on a boss, & let Spin/Shockwave alternate (depending on my/mob position) to remove all the minions/LTs. because i use Follow-up so much in my chain, i put Gaus BU, Scrap 50% Crit, & 2 dmg procs in it which also adds an E/N Res bonus. Shockwave is over 12sec base Rech (but under 4 once built), so the Rag purple proc fires often. def use the KB->KD proc in it, as you've got in the posted build. Spin with an Avalanche KD proc is slight mitigation. i have Evis 6slotted, but never use it... mostly a mule for Eradication/Cleaving bonuses. def no downtime waiting for good attacks to recharge on Claws.
  8. rebuilt my ill/Rad/Mace for solo'g AVs/GMs only to find the Phant & Tarantula constantly running under the heels of the target to fire their ranged-only attacks, to be squashed instantly. i don't remember what issue had that crap AI change, but it was right about the same time i'd finished slotting-up the char ... did it ever get fixed? was a great char otherwise ...230% Rech + Spiritual, nasty 130-160% -Res depending on procs, dual BU & several dmg procs, Energy Fonts, BP Lore & Support Hybrid & Degen, etc... but i only brought it out on teams with shield buffs after that. real bummer, that one.
  9. i've never used Hover with Claws, so i'm not sure how near the ground Spin might need to be. the rest all activate for me while jumping, so it's an assumption they would work while flying. are you running w/o Tough toggled to save End? if no, then i'd consider swapping out a few sets to shift bonuses away from S/L Res to SLEN Def & E/N Res ...Unbreakable, ShieldWall, TiCoating, Eradication, Cleaving, etc. personally prioritized SLENFC softcap Def, then E/N Res (F/C came easy with Winter/Purp), and didn't need as much Rech due to Claws being so fast. with Invince saturated, the icap levels of Def provides great buffer for -DDR mobs, & no real issues with Psi mobs either. good first pass
  10. the screens posted by Psyonico show discrepancy in Defense numbers. might be related bug, might not ...i'm not a coder.
  11. lookin better - far more lethal than your 1st posted build. GJ could use the Karma KB slot as your 2nd dmg proc in Burn (8pts is plenty for most content, even 4pts is good unless you're main tank against specific mobs). unless you really want to run normal content with these, opportunity to swap both SJ & Taunt out for Grant.Invis & Invis for additional LotG +Rech. i'd consider swapping the Dmg/Rech out of ThrowSpines for an Annihilation -Res proc ...or if you find it struggles on End, go back to the Winter set again so you don't need Weave toggled on (but with Ageless T3, this won't matter - running Weave won't be a big hit to your End ratio). active farming out the gate on a fresh build will feel slow, but after T3 Ageless & +1lvl, it'll fly in comparison.
  12. oh, my bad, i misunderstood. +HP is definitely worthwhile for /Regen, but Dull Pain should be perma & easily get you to cap on top of set bonuses & Accos. i guess having a 2nd option to do so isn't a bad thing, but not the most efficient use of powers either.
  13. the screencap linked shows he's using Radial tho, not Core
  14. Winter's Gifts, Aegis 4th slots, KB protections (if you're just farming - i'm not a fan of trying to run content on a farmer, or vice-versa. better to have different chars built for different content, imo), 6th Oblit slots, & Impervious Status. i could see them more useful as 2nd Rech slots in Haste, BU, & F.Embrace... some more +Rech set bonus from Consume... maybe a couple of Dmg Procs. might consider shuffling sets around to make both auras & Burn have double procs too.
  15. honestly don't think it'll be worthwhile in L50+ content, as most stuff dies faster than can be drained... it's mostly about durability and kill speed by then. any of the combos you listed can be good, but you might find Elec Melee a lil too similar in feel to Energy/. weapons in general, or special mechanic sets feel quite different to play.
  16. from a few thousand hrs on /Regen chars, yep, this is exactly right. never slot more regen or bother with +Regen bonuses. softcap +Def 1st, backed with moderate +Res, loads of +Rech for the clicks ...presto, /Regen build that doesn't suck interesting bug (or something odd at least)
  17. yep, yep. i only ever use B.Aura+Quills, ThrowSpines+Fences+Ball+Burn ...& Burst (if Haste is down & Ageless is on last leg). your optimal chain will depend on slotted & global Rech, so i can't say for sure. on the rare occasion i farm actively, i put my slowest animating power at the end if i've hit BU, or start with Burn if i've hit F.Embrace so i can get 2-3 patches out of the dmg boost. it'll handle 4x8 no issue - GJ improving it yourself. with Tough/Weave turned off, your End Ratio is quite good for a farmer. still a bunch o spare slots you could move around due to being over Fire Res cap, & won't need any KB protection if only farming... dmg procs go a long way.
  18. my build is horrid compared to what's possible. the only things good about it are, it works & it's stupid cheap. it's for going AFK 10min at a time & resetting the mish. it'll farm actively with insp, or after Incarnates, but that's due to crap End ratio. i have some reservations about posting it (honestly, i stopped posting my builds for a lot of other reasons). if i do this, it may open the flood gates further & get /fire brutes nerfed sooner (which i expect eventually). entry-level for AFK farming would be insanely low compared to what else is posted in the farming thread. IO's for the build will go up in cost i think too, which would negate some of "a patient 60m bidding (week-to-10-days on market)". maybe i'm over-thinking it?
  19. maybe reassess what bonuses you're getting towards the end-goals. ie; seeing a few instances of 4th 5th & 6th slot adding things the char will not benefit from for fire farming. the Fire Res cap is blown-past in both builds, while you could improve Fire Def to cap (in the OP build) and add procs via those freed slots. also saw a missed set bonus of 8.75% +Rech in favor of a LotG, which would be a slight net loss. personal op here, but... i think for that much inf you may as well go for the gusto & spend the lil bit more for other posted builds. even a patient 60m bidding (week-to-10-days on market) will build a 4x8 Spine/Fire farm Brute that can AFK before Incarnates. 50%+Rech for active killing speed is about the only functional difference between mine and the most expensive builds posted here. unless i was PL'g nearly every day, if i were to spend over double for a middle-ground build, it'd just be to AFK with Burn set auto instead of H.Flames (spend inf on HP & Regen).
  20. tried several times to like TW/Bio, but every build attempt i got through a 1st-draft with had too many "meh" results. they just weren't tough enough for what i was expecting to achieve, & when i gave-in to go hard into Dmg, they looked gutted to the point i'd be happier on a Blapper. i could be looking for more than what most will accept, since others seem plenty happy with their builds (which i eventually looked at, & still came away disappointed)... and who am i to say they aren't. TW/EnA could be fantastic for you ...i think Elec/TW would be a somewhat fair comparison if built for +Def melee cap, & that's the only Tank i ever enjoyed in 15yrs of CoH. no End issues, for sure. EnA's DDR was the missing link on that char. in the end, i went with TW/Rad this time... saving the idea of /Bio for another char & primary (TBD).
  21. highly accurate. Claws is also one of my top picks for animation speed. i'd add Katana & MA if you stick to the 4 best attacks of each set (which can be done easily with enough +Rech). TW can be fast... some of the time... more of the time if you really push the +Rech bonuses & pair with a set that has good +Rech built-in.
  22. despite half SR's DDR, Invuln can be built more sturdy than SR. the Resists can be pushed 2-3x higher, & Dull Pain can cap HP. both can reach icap Def, but Invuln requires being surrounded if you don't want to spend every set bonus on +Def. Invuln simply supplies a broader range of mitigation & provides more opportunity through varied sets. Psi is still the weakness, but 25-35% positional Def & Meld make it mostly trivial (as Psi doesn't hit too hard to begin with). the best i've found to build SR is just barely cap positional Def, spend everything else trying to get all Res close to 45-50%, then go for +Rech with what's left. this will be golden for most 1-50 content & feel like a cakewalk. take Rune & Melee Core ...alternate them to cap yourself 3.5/4min ...then add Rebirth Radial for a heal/regen. use Divine as needed in Incarn content. you can build +Def into WP, but w/o much DDR, it can all be stripped away quickly. Res levels can't be pushed nearly as high as Invuln, and the Regen can easily be overwhelmed. SR with some +Res & Rebirth Radial can handle far rougher content than WP. ^^^all that assumes the most dangerous mobs. avg content, all can perform well enough with even a below avg build. the Invuln & SR suggestions will out-survive most of the Brutes & Tanks randomly teamed with. Kat is faster than BS. the biggest factor is animation time blocking you out of hitting a heal or oh-shi power fast enough.
  23. may i introduce you to /Regen? of EnA's 2 clicks ... one isn't even split-second life or death... & the other shouldn't be if your build has a decent amount of Def & Res. 3 Toggles & 2 Autos ...cake.
