  1. yep, yet another Spine/Fire/Mu Brute Fire-Farmin build thread ...sorry! there are loads of "top end" builds out there ...for myself, i just didn't see the point in billion+ builds that net 4-4.5min active-farming times when you can clear in well under 5min with this particularly cheap build. most peeps don't have funds for those builds early-on anyway unless you've got a bunch of amazing friends who've been playing a while & will toss inf at you. plus i'm lazy, don't enjoy farming actively, and much prefer gettin stuff done around the house in 15min intervals between mission resets. so, how much?... over the last several months i've done up a few for under 60m (it's slightly more if less patient), and i expect cost to rise some if many people adopt this build, but it's still all very common Enh with a large supply & refresh rates on the market. my build hits all the necessary markers of softcap Fire Def & hardcap Fire Res, has a good amount of ToHit + Acc for optimal (anti-whiff) efficiency, makes some effort in End Ratio, and has a decent array of Procs to help mitigate the sub-par +Rech. the used attacks (all the AoEs & Cone) are fully built-out & will chain w/o gaps. there's no fat (travel powers, etc) and zero consideration for normal content (no KB protection, etc)... Fire-Farming 100%... a true min/max value build on the cheap. a few notes: ---right from the start, you can AFK farm +4x8 100% zero issue with H.Flames set auto. ---you'll need Agility Alpha to hit 45% softcap Def. ---you'll need T3 Ageless to cure End issues 100%, & will wheeze till then if active (like all /Fire farmers). after that, you'll never touch Consume again. ---use Assault Core if AFK, Radial if active & at dmg cap. give back to others in-game, & give credit/thx when you use builds by others... it's only polite. hope you all enjoy it! [*i said under 5min active-farming, but that's w/o using even a single Insp... i honestly don't know how much faster it could be with combine/use macros, cause i've never tried em. i just don't care that much...rather be speeding a TF or creating a build or working on any one of the million things i need to do around the house. performance does matter to me tho, and i am a curious dude ...so maybe report back here for the giggles of it?] Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! | Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1550;676;1352;HEX;| |78DA65944B4F534114C7A7ED54A40FDAD2425B288FD6D222D0C715F6C843D8D0A48| |96B53AF30C2D50AA4171475E5D2E8DECFC0C69D6F3F805163FC0C3E17C6C7DAC4D4| |73E7FC290DF7A6CD6FE63F73E63FE7CCDC5B3B580E3D5EBD372F3CC1A5A669DB8DC| |5D6FE9EF2D7CC4D6B5D384F0FFDFBB5D8A8A9A652E58BBBD6B6B2532C2DABAB6ADB| |56E5154BB56E3716F65BA608D477769A344BA98D906EAE29934236C3BAB3626D6EE| |D512F7234B4A15AF696B53B7061D75A2FC367BF5133ED3D5A3145E606FDDF14049E| |36FDE8114F9C8E472B5E51A5862185F71C38CB7CEA4CE1397ECF4DA135790B3C609| |EBA03DE25C6A5382D7C428C48F18CBA3E7694BE795AA44863E79981057091195A62| |BEA55DFA39C6EF875F087E7DF0EB835F147E51DB2B44428AF7052EB5934FCF7D424| |E8AFE07E043E673422F72EE45CE09039C63E6689120AFE3094EB3D7E011692CCCF1| |9EF028B47FCEA252BC2044B076046BA750CF14EAF981F618433D63C86F08F90D21B| |F0CF2CB20BF51D4F3A5D3D507D6F6C7B7BC7ACEA8055E638E5F079BE00DA697F63D| |80D31FD0A7EF2325896A25B1DB2C2A91C56E25CD49F36E653A80B110F34C18EC032| |3CC57347B1827388C0CF3C8308F0CF3C8B0800C0BC830467E23F01B815F017E45F8| |15E15784DF47AAE818FCC63EF9B476F633F805FCCA9CFA067EF769DF38F9E5709AB| |92CEF690A6CD09409D46702B76906B76906B7E932CD9984F724BC67E05D827709DE| |257857E06D12A6113B8DD80A622B8835106B20D640EC6B8A2AE334CBB899EFA80E5| |568D5437E2332F2E43B3FE552AA2EC57029B32E65CEA5ACC8CED7A4BDE61AAD4B0C| |92E2D14A6FB4F37568FF0C74BE3218FDED527EB9943FDDCA3857A11ED09E7AD54B5| |D6DB3AB7DA5ABFD7790BF8E4EFB51FCB8AD9FC3DC09E1479E04E4B89A3C1E4C278E| |F5FFAD5F101D| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|[/code] Too Boku ; Spine-Fire-Mu (cheap fire farming) - Brute.mxd
  2. BP ...everyone takes it for farming.
  3. i always blap, & i see what you're after with EM's B.Range, but... if we're primarily trying to make the snipe hit hardest, then you'll want 22% ToHit at all times. you can get there via Kismet + Tactics (boosted via +5, or some of the time via PowerBU) ...or you could go with a 2ndary that already has more than enough added ToHit (like Devices, which also has the "concealment" you're after), which would allow focusing on other bonuses. like Def... which i know Scrop.Shield is the easy go-to, but i much prefer trying to take a Res power like Charged, which covers the most common dmg types (SLE). it'll stack with Tough, which you'll have anyway, and you can go Rune & Melee Core to cap S/L with status protection. Mystic Flight also gives you that easy-out if somethin nasty is in your face. then you can chase bonuses to build the Def up easily enough for just Ranged... maybe even all 3 if ya try. ^^^not the most common or easy way to build, but it's good times.
  4. i think having it in Sting is your issue, as it's base Rech is low. i've had the 50% Proc in Golden on my Kat/Reg, and Soaring on my Kat/EnA ...can't tell which fires more, tho Golden should win. both of my chars only have those 3 attacks, plus Lotus (Divine is a given-slot mule on the Regen & never sees use), so i don't think it's the chain. my EnA has enough +Rech while in a mob that i use Soaring every-other-attack, yet it still fires a ton, giving a pretty good AoE dmg boost from Lotus crits.
  5. Claws? ...better than avg AoE, super fast animations/rech times (except Evis), nice diversity for sets, KD mitigation for solo, stackable ToHit, nice progression even at low lvl
  6. mine is a Scrap, but everything should still apply. i didn't take Strike, Slash or Confront ...took all others, but Evis & Unstop are mules. couldn't neglect Stamina with a single P.Shift proc, like i normally attempt. Follow-Up can be nasty with a bit of frankenslotting. KB>KD proc in Shockwave is a must. really fun char to play, but also insane durability... i didn't bother to plug Psi, and it almost wasn't noticeable due to all the incidental positional Def.
  7. massively disagree. on topic tho, i'll edit/paste things i've recently posted about building a /Regen; from a few thousand hrs on /Regen chars, the single biggest suggestion i can make if you're looking for durability is; do not bother enhancing standing Regen through Enh or Bonuses, just the clicks (IH, DP ...maybe some Int & Recon love). instead, hit melee Def softcap & attempt 150+Rech, then add what you can in Resists. it's going to feel counter-intuitive, until you play it with a strong layered build a while. Regen loves +Def as much as it thrives on +Rech, but the set also lacks any Debuff Res (take Ageless?). because chasing +Def & +Rech to their limits can have diminishing returns, and hitting all softcaps on any Regen char will gut the rest of the build, just take the biggest bonuses & then go looking to add easy Res (S/L yes, but don't neglect E/N ...F/C will come from Purps & WOs). a +Res based build on a Regen doesn't work out (i tried), but adding solid/well-rounded Res does help if you have good Def & Rech already. look at Meld (for Scraps) & alternating Rune & Melee Core to stay near Res caps. Regen is near the bottom these days, but it can still shine ...it's just very very hard play-wise & to build. lol, accept the challenge!
  8. i agree with Coyote... no reason to chase +Rech with this set combo ...i let Beta Decay do the heavy lifting on mine, as it's built to Blap. i also wouldn't worry a whole lot about chasing +Acc, as normal set slotting adds loads, and the unintended set bonuses from chasing other things just adds the cherry. without a Snipe, you really don't need to chase 22% ToHit either, and will do just fine (add a Kismet if solo a lot, maybe). easy suggestions for your 2nd version: ---drop a slot off Haste. move the Celerity proc into Sprint. toss each slot into Tidal/Ion, use 2 Rectified. ---Personally, i just Enzy B.Decay & prefer D.Barrage (hold-escape) in Aqua, so i disagree with Coyote on that one despite liking the idea of all procs in it. ---maybe dump Acro & Assault, take Veng & Hover (for melee emergencies), toss the LotG's in them, get your 6th R.Fortune bonuses. you can do nutty things with this combo...
  9. like Energize, it's a bit unique compared to bland always-on sustains ...& can add a lot to a build if you're creative. 15ft auto-hit mini proc bomb (2=140dmg), with KD & Stun mitigation, 5sec of 100% +Rech, great +Regen, and all the Recovery you should need. why do we keep trying to make all sets & powers the same?
  10. ^ agree with Boogaloo. Regen loves +Def as much as it thrives on +Rech, but the set also lacks any Debuff Res (take Ageless?). but because chasing +Def & +Rech to their limits can have diminishing returns, and hitting softcaps on any Regen char will gut the rest of the build, just take the biggest bonuses & then go looking to add easy Res. a +Res based build on a Regen Scrap doesn't work out (i tried), but adding solid/well-rounded Res does help if you have good Def & Rech already. my MA/Reg has 47-55% Res to all, & i alternate iH+Rune, then Melee Core to stay near the Res cap with only a few powers & slots used to get there. outside Int, don't bother slotting or looking for +Regen bonuses. 2.8hp/sec is how much you have my MA/Reg beat in standing Regen, & i didn't slot Health/F.Healing or even take PhysicalPerf ...much better for your durability to move those (and the added +End) slots out to more needed powers & better set bonuses. 2 P.Shift procs in Stam/QR is plenty, esp if your toggles have good EndReduc. maybe consider that Stealth/Invis lose Def while in combat (in case you weren't aware), but Veng can see a lot of use on typical PuG teams.
  11. could swap out a bunch of the +Res bonuses to hit softcaps while doing L10-49 content, where there is less DefDebuff. then alternate Rune & Melee Core in end-game content, to get Resists up near cap & absorb more of what gets through when DDR cascades. with the right Rad build, you can have the +Rech required to only see a 30sec gap every 5min.
  12. unfortunately, current pet AI (from a patch just after IO sets released) has them running under the heels of AVs/GMs to get 1-shot by a PBAoE. i built the ill/rad/mace char we're talking about here, & despite how insane it looks in Mids/Pine, it just doesn't function properly in-game.
  13. who told ya that? as for running a 2nd acct, you can easily run multiple instances of CoH on the same system. even on 15yr old hardware. no need for the laptop.
  14. i disagree - your build is quite good, esp considering most posted builds. some small/easy changes... consider swapping slotting from F.Healing into Int, Int into Health, Health into F.Healing (better +Regen & End Ratio). swap slotting between Flashing & Lotus (better AoE dmg, Rech, & End Reduc in higher cost attack). swap slotting between Resil & Tough (better End Ratio). steal a Rech from Hasten, put it in BU (boost em all if you like, but not needed). you can easily get away with 2 P.Shift procs (freeing 4 slots from Stam/QR), & replace Conserve with Veng (add the 5th LotG)... maybe use the slots to add a Kismet, Unbreakable, Miracle... swap Assault for Tactics & put the 4th slot in it as End Reduc. big changes would make the char entirely different, but would be helpful vs more exotic dmg types & debuffs in late-game... my usual /Regen suggestion for late-game durability is to hit melee softcap, then shoot for 150% Rech, and spend the rest chasing Resists as equally as possible up to 50% or so... look at Meld & Rune, take Melee Core, take an Alpha that adds Rech, & entertain the thought of Ageless & Diamag for the -tohit (because you lack DDR & -Regen Res, which hurt /Regen disproportionately). my own Kat/Reg:
  15. ^ nice of you to take the time, Digi. def think it's worth working on your own builds to learn. copying ideas from one is fine if you give credit, & it's always nice to find new perspective, but it's important to understand why selections were made by the builder (something only the experience of building yourself will give).
  16. as easy as it is to PL a separate char (or trade PL with someone, or make a 2nd acct for farming), i'd suggest sticking to a farm-only build which makes inf to spend on other content-chars. it's just far more efficient & less frustrating, esp when you can AFK +4x8 for under 100m in Enh with the right focused build. fire farming requires such a narrow focus to be really worth it, imo, cause being too slow means you're better served by just running content with peeps. and this is coming from a guy who makes "balance" a top priority in nearly all my char builds, to be sure none fail hard at anything. tho, i do like the occasional nutter-specific experiment build, for academic sake. basically, more trouble than it's worth?
  17. the single biggest suggestion i can make if you're looking for durability is; do not bother enhancing standing Regen, just the clicks (IH, DP ...maybe some Int & Recon love). instead, hit melee Def softcap & get 150%+ Rech, then add what you can in Resists. look at Meld & Rune. it's going to feel counter-intuitive, until you play it with a strong layered build a while. as Yomo mentioned, /Regen with long activation sets can be rough. it's a rewarding set if you stick with it & learn.
  18. i think it's difficult to compare many of the old/launch sets with the newer ones, but Kat/Reg is where i have the most hours, most incredible moments, & best memories since 2004. one of my most tweaked builds over time too... so many nerfs, lol. but also so many comebacks & learned mechanics from trying to overcome the nerfs & outlive much newer/better sets. all the upset wins in Siren's FightClubs on HOs before IOs (go ahead & judge me, lol, it was fun), & all the "that's a Regen?!? WTF!!!" tells after we got to eliminate visual effects of powers - great shit! Jinsoku Subeta has been recently reborn as TW/Rad, because i just can't be bothered yet to recreate the magic again. tho, maybe...
  19. aye. group-to-group isn't as much an issue. tend to have Melee on the team with me, who either pull groups back to a mass slaughter point and/or are within the mass with me ...HotFeet fear component works against us both in those instances. same for Fulcrum or similar buffs/debuffs... tight mobs = faster killin. certainly a different play style, as you mentioned. 🙂 i don't think either is wrong. seems most look at what fell short in a build, then patch it with Incarnate. occasionally i'll load up a build & notice they absolutely built around a set of Incarn abilities already in-mind. or maybe they have a non-typical end-goal & use Incarn to accentuate those aspects... did this myself with Fire/EM Blast + SpiritualRadial to get stupid numbers from Power Boost & Energize - perma-stun AVs, massive Heal, softcaps, 31% ToHit, insane movement speeds, etc - synergy in spades for that char. other times i know going into a build what i want from an specific Incarn... Rune/MeleeCore rotation for capped Res to SLENFC w/o gap on my already softcapped SLENFC Kat/EnA Scrap for example... i wanted to see if i could achieve both caps perma before adding Divine or Meld. i'd follow what Nemu did, as her/his builds have looked pretty well thought-out & i'd bet Incarn synergy is already accounted for.
  20. ^ eh, i see what you're gettin at, & it's not a wrong strategy. but for myself, i'd rather have bunchers than runners so Fireball/RoF/Inf/Combust/FSC are hitting max targets. if i were building for Ranged play, then i'd def look at HotFeet as deterrent ...but then i'd also definitely have 22% ToHit for my snipe too, as all of my PBAoE would be juxtaposed with the rest of the build & nowhere near as useful, limiting my dmg output significantly. at that point tho, might as well Hover & reroll as a /Dark Corr ...or dif Blast sets that work well at range at the very least. Fire/Fire needs to be in melee, imo.
  21. i don't have any Purps in this build (i know, blasphemy). Cytos were the expensive part. both Fire & Charged offer a TON o SL Res, with either FC or EN Res too... not just good vs incoming fire dmg. you have a taller hill to climb for Def, for sure, but as you can see from the pic it's possible to hit 40% Def to Melee & AoE. positional Def will cover incoming dmg of all types, which is favorable to typed dmg Def most of the time. i have a 2nd Fire/Fire build with Scorp which is softcap to SLEFC, & a lil bit of SLFC Res... but the /Flame EPP build is considerably more durable despite being down 5% on Def. functionally, the Def of both are the same in L50+ content due to all the AoEs paired with Diamag ...not much gets through, as everything gets at least 1 application of -ToHit. but when it does, it hurts far more on the Scorp build. i went with Charged on my Water/Atom, because i knew WIO's would cover a ton of FC Res, & it's even more durable than the Fire3. (57% SL, 45% E, 41% FC Resists, plus Rune & Melee Core rotation) ...but don't get me wrong, gotta hit 40-45% Def before anything else on most squishies.
