  1. If you are unhappy here, then perhaps these aren't the servers you are looking for. We know the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side". I'm not sure if that was pointed out in this thread or another one recently, but it is true. I think that the Homecoming DEVs have done a great job. I'm enjoying the game here. If a person feels that they really want the different customization of another server then they should play there. They don't have to JUST play there. They can play here as well. I play more than one game. If I really wanted something that another server had then I would go there for THAT thing, when I wanted to play THAT thing. What is the huge allure of other servers that makes you unhappy to play on Homecoming? The only things that I have heard that are anything me even worth considering trying them would be mastermind pet customization and greater range of character sizes. Neither of which is enough for me to have the motivation to install other servers. I simply haven't heard of any GREAT improvements to the game that the other servers have added. (I certainly don't need bow that looks like a person!)
  2. The closest thing we are going to get to vehicles are customization of what is the rocket board, flying carpet, and void skiff.
  3. I think it was due to power creep.
  4. You are correct that if they get paid that they are not volunteers. I think the GM's point is clear :: If one person starts getting paid for doing work for Homecoming, then some volunteers might start questioning why they aren't being paid for the work that they are doing for Homecoming. They may not be "right" on one level or another, but they are the ones making the final call. Maybe that would be good to keep in mind.
  5. I agree. It was working when I posted. OP indicated that it was up as well. I have gone to the website at least two other times in the last 2 or so years where it was down, and I just had to wait a half hour or so and it was up again. (So I posted as much) There have been posts in the forums about about the wiki being down in the past. In fact, one time when it did go down I was also part of the discussion. I go to the wiki website every time I log into the game. In no way is my post an attack on someone that has provided us with a great resource. Thanks providing this resource, @Michiyo Hopefully, if someone searches before they post, they will find one of these existing threads.
  6. It goes down randomly. I've run into times where I couldn't get to it as well. Just wait for a 1/2 hour and try again.
  7. Sounds funny, but someone seems to be getting involved with it. An Ebil Marketer perhaps?
  8. I'm sorry. I was taught that ie meant "in exemplum" - "as an example". Not sure when that changed. I'm old. I think it would be more impactful if you clearly stated what you are looking rather than a blanket "anything". I personally would like to see the animation for LRM Rocket fixed for the sets pull up no weapon graphics when you use the power with certain power sets. I would also like to see the LRM Rocket as a bazooka rather than the standard assault rifle that you pick as your weapon customization with assault rifle primary. I'm not sure why this power doesn't have it's own animation and relies up on the set ... perhaps a fire blaster might be able to pull out a bazooka. (I guess I'll have to go look on test). As indicated, I think you need to indicate exactly the things that you are looking for and you should post the in this forum. That's the first thing to do. If you get a lot of feedback, then you can push for this plan ... but, if none else wants what you want, do you want to foot the bill by yourself?
  9. My point is that it is all or nothing. I know that you can turn it off, but it is useless if you do not want the massive speed boost it provides, and that can leave you quite slow in an environment where it would provide too much speed. Correct. If you have super speed turned on; it is turned on. If you have super speed turned off; it is turned off. There is no slider for how fast you are going. Click it to turn it on. Click it again to turn it off. But I think you are talking about speed boost in your OP and not super speed, which is also either on or off. Also no variation in speed. In regards to options for speed boost, I clearly listed them in my original post. I was replying to ::
  10. Yes, you must go see Nul the Gull each time you want to turn "other" players speed buff on and off. They have no effect on your own travel powers. You should be able to rely up on your own travel powers to travel around maps without needing speed buffs from other players. Correct. You can turn superspeed on and off. It's a toggle. Are you looking for a pop-up window each time you are speed boosted "Do you want to accept the speed buff?"? I mean that is how it works with Mystic Fortune until you accept the option from Nul. It is also how the Teleport Target works if you turn off the option to automatically accept it in the options window. I could go with option settings to never accept, always accept, and ask me if I want another player's speed buffs. I always turn them off myself. I kick myself when I forget to get it and someone with 6-run slotted speed boost blasts me. Honestly speed boost is there to boost a character's recovery rate as far as I'm concerned. If I wanted to be a pinball, I would get super speed, turn it on and drag it to some tray I don't usually use.
  11. I think the GMs are getting dragged into things that they don't need to be bothered with. If you are offended by what the players is saying, put them on ignore and you don't have to see what they are writing any more. The sentence has the same meaning if they had said "You might as well just call me duck and then debate or chastise me for being a duck." The word "racist" in there might aggravate some, but I don't think it was intended to aggravate anyone. I read it as "You might as well just call me a bad person and then debate or chastise me for being a bad person." The sentence structure indicates that the poster believes that being a racist is a bad thing. I agree. Being a racist is a bad thing. If that gets me hot-water for saying that, so be it.
  12. Your posts did not say that the DEVs would make a profit. However, someone would be making a profit. This is where the most issue lies. You didn't say anyone that each player playing would have to pay for whatever game improvements were being made as far as could tell. You seem to be suggesting that players be allowed to donate additional funds toward a set programing project (some graphics for example). What happens if someone is paid to do programming for the game and then just walk off with player donated money? Would the donations be to a set "thing"? What are the set things that you are looking for? Mastermind pet customization? Another server is already doing this. There is another thread about it. Myself, I think that using character slots for pet customization is sort of a sloppy and information intensive way to handle it. It would be cause much less hassle on every side to allow power customization (as it is already implemented) instead. We already see that character mirroring can work with the Controller pets. Make mirroring an option. I've already posted somewhere my other ideas for mastermind customization, but swapping in Spectral Pirates for Ninja, Clockwork for Robots, Hellions/Outcast for Thugs, Circle of Thorns for Demons, (puking) Freakshow for zombies. No additional graphics needed. Keep the animations and replace the costume. This is how weapon customization works. I don't see a need to hire anyone to do this. If the DEVs' vision takes the game in that direction, then they will take the game in that direction.
  13. When you pay for services through a company, it is different then having an actual employee or freelancer. I guess they could pay for a company to do the (as your example) graphics. So if someone was working as a company (the lawyer as an example), they might could get around the taxes. I think you are also indicating here that all the people that are doing things for the club are actually volunteering and none of them are getting paid to work at the club. Is that correct? I think that you are rushing it because the DEVs are and have been making changes to the game over time including graphical ones. I was just using the power-leveling euphemism as related to rushing to the end-game being like trying to make changes to the game faster than what the DEVs are doing now. I don't think anyone else is reading that as me indicating that you are asking for paid-power-leveling to be added to the game, but, around here, who can tell ...
  14. See above post. you might not have been notified as they didn't quote you.
  15. As soon as you start paying someone, they become an employee/freelancer. Money exchanges hands and the government(s) step in; they want their piece-of-the-action, etc. and paperwork and possible legal engagement ensues which is all part of paying an individual for work that they do. Homecoming is doing fine. We don't need to rush things (to 50 😛 aka "the end-game"). Enjoy the journey. Things have been DEVeloping nicely along the way.
  16. I had a character called Thermocouple back on live. Fire and ice-ice, baby.
  17. if you are going to run it solo, a stormy is the way to go. Just guard the portal with hurricane and fight the waves as they come to you. It's football/soccer goal defense mission. If you are on a team, I've seen some teams send out half to fight mobs and the other half stays and defends the portals. I've seen some teams leave a couple at the portal and send three out each pathway to lure groups back to their side and fight them from along their choice of the two paths to protect. It's really a team mission and not a solo mission. But if they are too much for you and/or you just can't be as Uber as you want to be, sometimes we need to accept our shortcomings.
