Wow. I missed that because it looked boring….

When City of Heroes first came out, Influence was the only currency. It was a measure of how heroic the public thought that you were. It was earned only through defeating villains/enemies and successful mission completion (some missions could be failed which would actually take away influence because you failed in the eyes of the public!) When City of Villains came out, the villain currency was Infamy. It was a sign to the public of how villainous you were. As the game progressed, the Auction House system was added (Wentworth's/Black Market) and, at the same time, the invention system (salvage and recipes were added along with the ability to craft those recipes with the necessary salvage). Now you could gain both recipes and salvage through defeating enemies and mission completes. These could be crafted. Recipes, salvage, crafted enhancements (IOs and IO sets), normal enhances (training, DOs - dual origin, and SOs - single origin), inspirations, etc could be sold on the market to other players. I can't remember if it was before or after this that you could start training influence to other hero players and infamy to other villain players, but it was sometime around this time. When Going Rogue hit, Praetorians didn't get their own currency(?) All Currency was merged into Influence. This was because this is when the alignment system was added and heroes and villains could "change sides". I kind of remember that this didn't happen all at once and there was an issue at one point when villains/rogues weren't able to use Wentworths and heroes/rogues couldn't use the Black market. Heroes and villains couldn't exchange funds because Influence wasn't the same kind of currency as Infamy (obviously, as one was for heroic deeds and the other for being villainous) Once all currency became Influence, Heroes/Villians/Praetorians all had the same currency and Wentworths and the Black Market were merged into the Auction House with all characters having access to the same public trading system. You can email influence to your self and others. You can transfer it through the trade window if you are close enough to another character as well. For most players the main way to gain influence is still through defeating enemies and mission completions. That is why some people Farm; farming is also used for power-leveling. Other way to get influence is through the Auction House. This can be accessed anywhere outdoors by typing /AH You can also access the Auction House system by visiting a Wentworths on hero side or a Black Market on villain side (sorry, Praetorians ... do you guys still use EBay or is it Craig's List?) You can sell your salvage, recipes, crafter enhancements, and other drops on the Auction house to gain influence. Sure, you can buy stuff at the Auction House, but you were asking about how to make Influence and not spend it! Welcome to THE CITY. Have fun!

Long ago, but not immediately upon my joining Homecoming, I stopped saving invention salvage. I'll store Event salvage and maybe unslotters. I'll only put 2 or 3 salvage racks in a base. Most of the time they are empty. I sell all salvage that I'm not using. It's a waste of time for me to sort it. I go through salvage too fast.

as far as I know it is one account per email address. I have 2. one is my mask with only 1 character. My main account ... well, I don't see why you need more than one to do significant marketing. I have 128 characters and I could be making like 1000 per server? so I'm a bit confused why I would need a second account. it might be easier to do some shuffling, but I seem to be doing okay without a second account interacting with my main account.

Of course. This is the behavior of bullies and miscreants. It shouldn't stop a hero from standing up and defending the City.

I haven't had an problems telling people to move to /general. Sometimes they complain on the way out, but they move to the /general channel. You don't scare me by saying that I'm being a channel Nzi for doing what other people want done but aren't willing to do. There aren't GMs on to monitor the chat channels. The DEVs created /general because of all the /general chat on /help and /LFG, didn't they? They showed their policy in creating the /general channel. If you want to chat in /LFG or /help you are out of line. It isn't what it is there for. And don't worry, I use /ignore when I need to, but I'm doing going to stand-up and say something before I have to put someone on /ignore.
-
Agreed. But /help is for questions and not "general" discussion. People used to be just as bad about chatting in /help as they would get in /lfg. /general is for chatting. /lfg is for forming groups. /help is for questions it really isn't that hard of a concept. To some extent we are policing ourselves, so someone at some point has to be the adult in the room and say something to the offenders or they think that it is okay to continue being disruptive. By having a chat in channel in the /lfg and/or /help channel, players are being disruptive to a majority if not all the other players on the server. Those players are the one out of line and not the person telling you that there are alternatives where you can chat freely. /general was created by the DEVs because of this issue - which has been ongoing.

.... just keep watching and you'll get it ....

But this isn't the case with respecs, correct? You pick all your powers and THEN you place slotts. You can respec and put 6 slots in powers you get after 40 if you want. Of course that can seriously gimp you when playing lower level combat.

Yes. Since your feet are in set places on the rocketboard, void skiffs, and flying carpets, new animations would have to be made for all the powers. This - though not "beyond what could be done" - is a huge amount of work and, honestly, not really worth all that work. This would eat up years of the Homecoming DEVs time. Every power animation for every power set .... I would far rather see the running animation for the Coyote form be used for beast run rather than the current beast run animation, but I know that would be a hassle as well and probably not worth the DEV time to do it.

Okay. I just did some sorting. I pulled about 20 enhances from email fairly rapidly. When I went to pull the next one and that one hung for a minute. Wrote the above and went back in and pulled another 4 in fairly rapid succession - smooth sailing pulled another 32 and it didn't hang - this was without taking time to sort - I don't have the AH open when I'm opening card packs or pulling items from email and AH isn't in a hung process due to trying to make too many transactions (bulk collecting inf from sales overwhelming the broker)

Since it is resolved for me, I don't think that is an issue of "having" too many things in email or the auction house. I have a huge inventory in the auction house well over 30 characters with full rotating-stock auction house slots and many more that are full, but I only rotate stock as I play those characters. I may not have reached "some unseen" cap on storage of email from card packs, but I do have a large email from card packs inventory. (I will say that I have moved a large amount of card pack enhances into base storage for easier access and distribution. In fact, all my Winter Pack enhances are now in base storage, so could Winter Packs be playing a part in the issue? There was that glitch going on.) I also do very little gaming on Excelsior. With the other Excelsior issues going on, could Excelsior be part of the culprit in this?
-
Just curious. How would you use two auction windows at the same time or what would you be cross-referencing or whatever?
-
This cleared it for me when it first happened, but I can't say that I have opened that many card packs at once since the Winter Packs are on sale. perhaps there is a an in-built cap in the game somewhere that limits the number of card pack that can be opened in a day. Perhaps after it resolved again, limit to opening 25-30 card packs a day and see if that stops it from happening again. They time it happened to me was couple of months ago. I think it was not long after the Winter event ended ... or so it seems to me ... time seems to be running wonky for me these says, so honestly can't accurately track time unless I wrote down a date somewhere. I do good bit of trading, but I'm not buying or opening more than 20 pr so super packs at one time. I'm also not pulling lots of converters or unslotters at one time. I think I pull the max of 100 of 20x brainstorms at a time, but that hasn't clocked me up. I don't buy card packs and then flip everything immediately, so that might have something to do with me not locking up when other people are.

Hurricane (from Storm Summoning) making people physically ill?
UltraAlt replied to Spectral's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
A client side mod(s) could well help resolve the issues that people are having. Being able set the color scale for powers on client side to tone down the brightest colors would be helpful. Even if this is only setting the default color of the brighter default powers would be helpful. It isn't clear to me why some players would make all their powers and their costumes the brightest white, but I have seen some players do it. What you are suggesting could very well be a permanent solution for the brightness issue. Then nausea, vertigo, and/or migraine people seem to be affected as much by the animation as by bright colors. I do think a lot of this is handled by noparticles, but I haven't seen a good amount of feedback on that. (One power that isn't fully covered by noparticles is Lifegiving Spores) -
If you could customize your Mastermind minions, what would you make?
UltraAlt replied to Magi 1's topic in Mastermind
Easiest way is with mastermind pet customization - powers stay the same but the minions look different Ninjas - Pirates, Sky Raiders, Knives of Artemis, ? Thugs - Pirates, Warriors, Malta, Council, Red Caps/Fir Bolg? Zombies - Spectral Pirates, Circle of Thorn Spectral/ghosts, Banished Pantheon, ? Robots - Clockwork, Praetorian Clockwork, ? Demons - Circle of Thorn Spectral/ghosts, Banished Pantheon, ? -
Hurricane (from Storm Summoning) making people physically ill?
UltraAlt replied to Spectral's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Explain all the options please. You don't have to include the obvious like not creating characters with powers that affect you negatively or to leave teams with players with the offending powers or color selections. It isn't the entirety of the game that people are having issues with. It's just certain power FX, default color selection on ice and hurricane, and other players selection of bright colors. noparticles goes a long way to get rid of the overpowering graphics. I would think that if there are similar things to handle the players side view of those offensive powers and could dull the brightest colors (and force add some coloring to what is seen as white) that it would be very useful to some players. As a DEV you pick what to fix or add to the game. No finger pointing involved. I'm glad for that the DEV team does. But please do explain the options we have to change the power SFX and brightness of colors other people select for their powers. I have seen a good number of posts on this and players are looking for solutions. -
How many characters do you have? Do you have characters on multiple servers? Log in a character on server that you don't usually play and/or recently. buy some salvage and sell it. Sell it at a low enough price that you can clear the sale. Then try pulling a card pack item from email with that character. Also try buying a superpack with that character and opening it.
