P2W Vendor: Level 50 Ticket (Cost: 20 Million Influence)
UltraAlt replied to LightningDrone's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
looks like a /jranger to me. Explain yourself. The level 1-50 content IS THE GAME. The content AFTER level 50 is the end-game. It is the stuff stuck onto the end of the game because you have completed playing THE GAME. This isn't DCUO where you have to level to 30 (playing some great old school missions from the old days of comics) before you can get into the grinding end-game of new comics that get retconned every 15-days at this point. In fact, a large amount of level 50 content is in the Ouroboros which levels you down so you can run the GAME content that was skipped over either by power-leveling past it or leveling past it by simply running parallel content. The level 1-50 content IS NOT A TUTORIAL. The game has tutorials and you already can bypass them. The tutorials happen before you actually enter THE CITY. It isn't a "mini" tutorial. Those ARE the tutorials. I tell you what. I have played this City of Heroes since Episode 1. I don't think I might have one character with a veteran level .... might. I don't have to have some flag on my character that says I'm a veteran player to be a veteran player. I am a veteran player. I know it. I have played this City of Heroes since Episode 1. Anyone can log on, get power-level in a farm and have a character that says it is a veteran in less than a day. Are they L337 or a veteran? I think the answer is obvious. AE babies. AE BABIES. AE BABIES ARE NOT VETERAN PLAYERS! They certainly aren't veteran characters. And, yeah, a got a button pushed on this. I admit it. I'm guessing a new thread to discuss it every couple of months at this rate. Obviously, this. I guess the ultimate answer is really - if this is what you want, then there are other City of Heroes servers that already offer this. So, not to be rude, but just go play on another server if you don't like Homecoming. You can also go to the beta server and level yourself up there to 50 and enhance your character for free. And I apologize for being a bit miffed about this, but I actually like to have people to game with that don't think they are "too good" to play the actual game. -
P2W Vendor: Level 50 Ticket (Cost: 20 Million Influence)

It's a general thing to search the forums before you post about something, but I don't always do it. I'm against this. I guess my view of this may evolve so I'll go with where I'm at now. There are some people that like to farm and apparently like to have doorsitters. I say let the system stay the way that it is so that it doesn't ruin the way Farmers like to play the game. I'm not a farmer. I don't "hate" farmers like I used to. Who really cares at this point? But I think even in the farming experience there is probably SOME discussion about powers. What you are essentially doing is making it free because :: So why make Yomo foot the bill? Make it free if something like this MUST happen. I don't think it is necessary or any advantage to game play. In fact, I think it avoids that game entirely and puts the player directly into the end-game. I don't play end-game. I don't think it is a good idea to put new players into a position where they feel like they have to level to 50 from the get go to enjoy the game, because they don't. Leveling to 50 actually bypasses the joy of leveling with a team. I know that there are those that are jaded and don't want play the game and want to go directly to "win". At least, I'm assuming what "insta50" is to them. And, yeah, I do think that's jaded. Does it make you better than other players somehow because you bypassed playing the game? The answer from me is obviously it does not. You may just want to play the City of Heroes a different way. -

Did they try /stuck? -
I have over 100 characters at this point. It isn't that I'm losing interest in any of the characters. It' more that I like making new characters - like you do. I don't think there is anything wrong with making new characters and playing them until you decide something else would be fun to play. You shouldn't blame yourself for enjoying the game in that manner. You know the deal. You have two paths to 50. 1) You can play the game to 50. 2) You can get power-leveled to 50 - aka Farmed to 50. So let's start off with the basics. You are going to stay engaged faster if you have friends to team up with. If you don't have friends you know to team up with, then PUG. I PUG a lot. Like all the time when I don't game with the couple of real-life friends that I have in this game or in-game friends. Sometimes my RL/IG friends PUG but mainly they seem to like to game with a small group, so I go with the flow. Teaming - especially running task forces - seems to make the leveling quicker and more entertaining because everyone is on the go. If you are taking the game-playing path, Lead teams yourself so you can regulate the difficulty. Lead task forces yourself, and make sure to announce you are running an XP task force versus a speed task force ... I mean if you are really trying to level. Don't feel confined with that one character though or you might start to hate it ... which ruins the point of having fun playing the game to level up. If you are going to powerlevel/farm to 50, That's easy enough these days. If the goal is just to get to 50 for some reason, this is the quickest and easiest path. Just yell out in /LFG that you are looking for a farm. Maybe even move to Excelsior to powerlevel your character and then move back to the server you want to game on. I hate end-game content. I really hate the incarnate system. It's a grind. Have at it, but don't expect me to condone it. I pretty much shelf my characters when they get to 50 and only pull them out on rare occasions.

I slot 2 accs as well, and I don't have that issue with my beam rifles, but I'm often running Leadership>Tactics as well. Lot of people think that Leadership is a waste of slots, but it helps the whole team. Even if you only run with one other person it makes a big difference -- and it stacks! SIDE NOTE :: People have been known to dis on Leadership>Assault but it increase the damage of ALL attack powers for everyone on your team. (plus you don't have to worry about slotting it!)

So I will do likewise. I don't see "storyline" in the statement you posted. Thanks for clearing it up.

"The global ignore list has a maximum capacity of 100 names. When full, addition of any new entries will remove the oldest entry in the list to make room for the new addition. The following notifications are displayed: Your ignore list is full. '@OldGlobalName' was removed from your ignore list to make room for the new entry. You are ignoring @NewGlobalName" - https://archive.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Friends_Window I will neither confirm or deny that I have /gignored so many players that they have started rolling off the end of my ignore list. If someone is making the game "not fun" then put them on ignore. Most of the players here are here to "have fun" and not be disruptive, abusive, crude, or an actual stalker (DACaS). High population servers - seem to me - to be more likely to have DACaS. I think that is because there are simply more players and because players that tend to behave as DACaS are more likely to look for the biggest audience/targets they can get. Of course, "role-playing" can draw this out too. Some people use "role-playing" as an excuse to behave badly. "It wasn't me. That's just how my character would act." I'm rambling on again, but my point is that 100 names is pretty good buffer to keep those that are annoying to you away from you in chat at least. Nvidia has a great screen/video capture feature so you can get whatever evidence you need if a character is /emote'ing around your character and you are actively trying to avoid them.

The Devs are making sure it's the most wonderful time...
UltraAlt replied to Black Talon's topic in General Discussion
I fear that gifts are often used as way to get around having received monetary gain when someone isn't supposed to be getting monetary gains for one reason or another. The idea is heartfelt, and I'm not trying to be a downer, but the DEV team have indicated that they know that they are in precarious situation. Perhaps pictures of your well wishes may be the best route in our current situation. -
issue 27 Patch Notes for November 30th, 2021

lol uh, what is that motion she is doing supposed to mean? -
I beg to differ. A Story Arc contains a complete story. The story line for the arc is completed at the end of the arc. A Story Line is "the plot of a novel, play, movie, or other narrative form." Note that this is linked to one set project and not trilogy or series. So, by your definition, no storyline can ever be completed. I would argue based on your definition that the storyline could not even end with the entire destruction of the universe that the storyline is set in as there is always plot lines and characters that can be extrapolated from the story that can have their own stories and prehistory that could be explored. I stick with my standing that complete "stories" are released as story arcs. A good AE story arc should as well have a final mission that wraps up the story for that story arc even if there is a continuation with another story arc. We have "short stories", and we have series. Often they build upon one another, but the individual "stories" have their conclusions even if there is an additional "cliff hanger" tacked onto the end to tease the reader/viewer/listen to eagerly await the next project's arrival. You can have stand-alone short stories that are simply part of the same character or the same universe and how the characters interact in that universe, but they otherwise can or don't necessarily have any impact upon one other even in a chronological sense. Simply because they have the same characters or the same universe doesn't really mean that they are part of the same story line even if there is some thread of familiarity. Like a story arc, a story had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Story lines by your definition never have an end and, really, they have no beginning either. They is simply a starting point and everything branches out forward, backwards, and sideways from there is the story line. It's a matter of point of view. I'm saying to the OP that story arcs are complete stories. You are telling me that story lines are never-ending plot threads. Issue 6 - "Along Came a Spider" - October 27, 2005 City of Heroes CCG - January 2006 - (discontinued) February 2007 Issue 7 - "Destiny Manifest" - June 6, 2006 Yes. Exactly my point. A story arc is a complete story/arc. There can be more added to anything, but the story arc itself is a complete storyline. Beginning, middle, and end - unto itself.

Of course they could go with the classic. You can pick and play any Marvel character (if you pay to unlock it), but you can't see anyone else playing the same character. Also any player can only see the nearest player that playing any character that they aren't playing, and all other players playing that character can't be seen. You can't invite any duplicate characters to your team, but once you do invite a character to your team that is the only version of that character that you can see. It would be interesting to see which character couldn't find a team because there are too many duplicates. it would also be interesting to see what the standard team turned out to be. (I'm assuming plenty of Hulk, Thor, Spiderman, Captain America and a handful of X-men to go around) Now rotate which version/costume of the character is "unlocked" say for each 3 month period and then make the player buy (perma-rent) the version/costume of the quarter if they want to keep playing that character(s). Heck, why not make the player pay for villains to fight. Yep. Pay for villains to fight and then when you make a team things happen randomly based on what villains people on the team have unlocked. Well, semi-randomly. Random pick of villain or villian group combos and have prescripted events that go on in regards to those villains. Do they do something in the open world you have to stop? Do they come in attack you? Or do they simply try to kill off your NPC loved-ones!?! Wait! There is an attack located in [insert zone name here]! if you or perhaps someone on your team hasn't paid to unlock it, then you or your team gets the option to pay to unlock the zone or you simply lose that encounter. Now add in movie clips from the movies to eat up time as cutscenes! Make them like 5 or 10 minutes long. I'm tired and rambling...sorry...but I'm just seeing some kind of P2W fanboy of the year game if it doesn't take the same path as DCUO (which is still pretty much focused on how much cash it can drain from it's player-base through microtransactions)

The game has never released unfinished story arcs - that I know of. There are continuations of storylines at some points, but all storyline arcs are released as a whole and have a completion.

I hope they are, because I think the Homecoming DEVs and team has and is doing a great job. They are providing a game that I loved that was ruined by P2W and made it even better by many of their changes. I am very glad to be able to play CoH gain. Thank you, Homecoming DEVs and team.

If you don't blow off the first 50 levels there is tons of content. Not enough game content for you? use the AE and make your own in-game content for yourself and others ... or just play other people's AE missions. Uh, it took months for updates to happen before the sunset ... with paid DEVs. Updating doesn't happen every month in most games. Yeah, it's going to be a couple of months before another set of big updates. I don't want to be rude, but you seem to be a bit of a "flash in the pan" player. You are going to ... oh, look over there! Something shiny. You like shiny, don't you? You better go hurry and check out that shiny thing!

When windows 10 came out, Microsoft and Toshiba said my computer was compatible for Windows 10, so I upgraded and my system totally crashed 3 or more after having Window 10 installed for less than a week in most cases. After going through the pain-in-the-butt re-installs of windows 8 to 8.1 to Windows 10 all those times, suddenly Microsoft and Toshiba say my computer isn't compatible with Windows 10. So I have windows 8.1 installed at that point, but my hard drive is screwed. So I have to change the hard drive out (I put a second one in) and go through the whole process of reinstalling Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 again. And, after all that, Windows 10 apparently damaged my laptop graphics card. It would no longer play games that it used to play. It will load up and try to run City of Heroes and then die. Yep, Windows 10 damaged my computer. Any compensation from Microsoft or Toshiba ... forgetaboutit. So yeah, I wouldn't be rushing to install Windows 11 on a machine that had Windows 10 running on it. I fact both my Windows 10 computers are saying that they are incompatible with Windows 11. I'm in no rush to buy a new computer simply to have the new operating system. But I'm not going to move to Windows 11 until I buy a new computer that where Windows 11 is native.
