Slash Command to Post/Claim Items on the AH
UltraAlt replied to Monsoon's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I do see it as the equivalent of being able to set our character on "attack only minions not more than +1" with a marco to that follows an power execution sequence. I also see DEVs taking time to create macros that would do this to be a waste of their time. That's my call and my opinion. I don't feel it to be weak at all. I didn't feel like I needed to go into any greater detail. The game always had /e or /em, as you say, as a macro for emotes, so I don't see that as any kind of valid counterpoint. So maybe I'll put it another way. I'm an EBIL marketeer. You really don't want to make it easier for me to utilize the market. -

Slash Command to Post/Claim Items on the AH

It is automating part of the game. Are you saying that the auction house isn't part of the game? -

I don't think that we need more commands to automate the game. The game is there to be played. Games are there to be played. -

Sell me on "Leaves you drained of endurance" powers
UltraAlt replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
You're talking "character conception", Doc! Those are four-letter words to some people! Watch your manners, good sir! There are plenty of players out there that will use self-destruct to avoid getting debt regardless of whether it is in character conception or not. -

Lack of being able to gain end means that you can't do damage for a certain about of time. The gauge working so that you can do huge spike damage but your dps over time is the same. You can't "gain' end for a while, but you can pop blue chiclets all day long to get end back. Because it is a balancing factor in the game mechanics. it's kind of the same way that the game shouldn't have an "I WIN" button*. * Of course the work around for the "I WIN" button is that it just seems that way to you, but the other players are pushing the same button and it looks to them like they win. You know, kind of like the way Propel's SFX use to work. "DId you see me hit him with that Buick?!" "No man. You just threw a desk lamp at him, and it bounced off!" -
Interface (Incarnate Power) vagaries
UltraAlt replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
It's like someone saw Final Fantasy's skill tree.... ... and said, oh, yeah, that will keep the players busy ..... what we really need to do to take up more time (because that was the goal around that time to make players grind and P2W) ... let's throw in random salvage that they can't trade or sell and don't make it related to the path that they are taking in the skill tree ...make it random drops ... I argue that the Incarnate System is the System for gaining Incarnate/god-like buffs (the grind and complication) and not the Incarnate/god-like buffs themselves. Therefore, if you change the Incarnate system to make it less (intentionally complex and grindy) then you are taking away the L337ism of the system. Because that is what the Incarnate system is L337ism. "I have mastered the complexity of the Incarnate system and grinded my way to goal X! Watch me roartm! ... and bow down to my L337iness. Yes. You my kiss my feet now." A method to make die-hard fans of the game that don't want to alt remain active in the game by giving them something to do that appears to extend the length of the game (ake end-game content). It started out as City of Heroes and the Incarnate system makes it City of Gods. I'm playing to be a superhero or adventurer (and rarely a criminal) and not a god incarnate. I'm not going to lie though. I would love to see the City of Jack Kirby Giants expansion. -

Nothing can save the incarnate system. If you do what needs to be done to fix it, it would no longer be the incarnate system. It would be replacing the $%$@#@% that is the incarnate system. -
Sell me on superspeed - why is running around the city the best?
UltraAlt replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
It is okay. Even Speed of Sound is better in my book. I guess superspeed is better than Infiltration. Since I'm a character conception player, I really just use superspeed on my speedster characters. Ironically, since I'm an old-school Flash Family fan, I just haven't made many characters with superspeed since I've been back. I guess using other players like traffic cones and running circles, figure-8s, and what-not around them is fun. Could always mix in a little combat jumping (extra def) or super leap to get some more vertical out of it. We do have the mix-match-combine - turn all the travel powers you want on at one time and get the highest stat of each type of movement. -

Yes. Once you get some negative resistance and slot it up, it isn't so bad, but until you slot up negative resistance they can be a very real threat - as you say "early on". Yeah. Honestly, I loved the Cyst the way that they were. The Bull-in-the-China shop teams would just plow in and .... enemy spawn city! I guess the Kheldian stink on teams isn't as much of an issue as it used to be either. I remember times when a Kheldian had been on a team and left that the team leader would call for disbanding and reforming to get rid of the Kheldian stink on the team.

it's always best to team-up until you get the hang of an archetype and when you team up with non-Kheldian archetypes you get buffs from each different type of archetype you team up with. Keep it simple. Start off getting a decent human form going. Your defenses work best at range, so stay at range until you are ready to "arrest" an enemy. For your first Kheldian, I would suggest trying either the squid (blaster) or the dwarf (tank). The squid is very squishy. I don't like turning into it unless someone else can taunt the enemy. If someone else is controlling the agro, I turn into squid and blast away. This is the kind of kheldian that I'm playing now, so I tent to spend most of my time in human form. I haven't played a Dwarf in a long time, but as I recall the Warshades are better Dwarves than Peacebringers. Form switching with a dwarf can work sort of the same way and the intent is to pull agro, so, once high enough, run into the crowd as a human, nuke, and switch up to dwarf to draw agro. Always take down Voids, Quantums, cysts <sp?>, etc. first. aka anything that does negative damage. And as soon you can get armor against negative, enhance it! (hint: there is a base buff that can give you some negative energy resistance, don't leave your base without it.) Oh, and watch carefully when picking power to make sure you are picking powers that work in squid or dwarf form depending up on which 2nd form you pick. I seriously suggest not playing a 3 form kheldian until you feel good playing a 2-form human/squid and a human/dwarf. I also suggest making macros that to change trays to match your current form. But having said that, I play with a controller about 90% of the time, so I have lots of tray switches and tricks to avoid touching the keyboard or mouse.

I think there is a cover-up going on. When I search for "was dev castle against water power in city of heroes?", one of the search results is :: Count Dracula - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Count_Dracula Count Dracula is the title character of Bram Stoker's 1897 gothic horror novel Dracula. ... One of Dracula's most iconic powers is his ability to turn others into ...

Excelsior is the new Freedom server equivalent. Highest population and the kind of players that flock to the highest population servers Everlasting (the unofficial role-playing server) has the 2nd highest population. [EDIT :: ... so kind of like Virtue] Torchbearer is like the #3 server population-wise most of the time. Reunion is the European servers, so they tend to have more actively during European active hours. Good people on this server but the population is low most of the time. Indomitable is the unofficial PVP server. I think it takes a significant hit for that. Part of that is because CoH really isn't built for PVP, and the in-game attitudes of some that are PVP focused. All that in consideration. it is the lowest population server. I find Torchbearer to have a very civil crowd with people both looking for teams and those willing to run teams. As always in THE CITY, generally if you recruit for a team, you will find people that want to team with you. This is because people are hesitant to recruit/lead a team, but they will join in a heartbeat.

Attachment File Size decreased?
UltraAlt replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Website Suggestions & Feedback
So I ran into this. They have only allotted us so much space to upload images. Click on your name and on "my attachments". You can see what you have attached and how close you are to your limit. To avoid reaching this limit, you need to post urls instead of uploading an image from your computer. If you have a google account, you can save photo files, get the url link, and then post the link the forums via the "other media" button or simply copy-and-paste the URL into the body of the text like I did below This links to the url versus saving the image to the forums. I'm sure the community has to pay to store any images saved on the forum side. Honestly, wish I would have known this before I started uploading images from my computer versus linking to a website. I found the image above on the net. Right clicked on it. Opened the image in new tab. and then use that url to post the image. -
When was the last DEV shake up before the sunset? I cancelled my subscription and quit playing almost exactly a year before the sunset.

Whatever matches your character conception <--- would always be my first pick. I like Dark/Dark, Dark/Titan Weapon, Fire/Staff, Electric/Street Justice, Shield/Mace, etc. <-- I'm an alt-jumper so I'm making them by character suggestion, but I have made all these and they are fun to play when I play them.
