Sorry to jump into this late. Bubbling is a teaming power set. The game was created for teaming and not soloing. Things have been done by the DEVs to make the game more solo-friendly over the years. Forcefield was one of the original power sets, so the intent is to use it on a team. And I agree that forcefield is not a good choice for soloing. Bubbles stack so a team with multiple bubbler/force fielders (force field isn't the only set that has "force fields") can bubble each other. A Repeat Offenders group known as the Pinball Wizards was (and probably is) very successful with an all forcefield team. So, yes, a force fielder really needs to team up to be successful, but I do not feel that teaming is a bad thing. If people aren't recruiting, you can recruit for a team. Most people are scared of recruiting for some reason. Don't worry about being scared about recruiting; most people seem to be for some reason, but you can tell from /LFG that if you start recruiting for something, people will most likely send tells to join. Just make sure to list what level the team will be and what you are doing. If you are doing door missions, don't worry about filling. Get a couple of the team and start running, and send more /lfg messages in between messages or when someone sends a tell to join. This is a good practice as players will join and fall out of PUGs (pick up groups) and constantly recruiting helps keep the team number high throughout your play session. And here we see where part of the trick is. If you are a bubbler, you want to avoid using multiple target attacks and you want target through the most resilient member of your team. If that player is a tanker - even if they don't have taunt - they will tend to keep the agro. Also, if you are a bubbler, you are going to do less damage than the archetypes that do not have bubbles; if you are targeting through a character that does more damage than your character - the character you are targeting through will keep the agro. So this is why you want to avoid the multi-target powers. That is to say, if you do damage to targets that aren't being taunted or are aggroed by someone doing more damage than you do, you will agro those targets. I hope that makes sense.

So are you for force fields for brutes, tankers, scrapper, and stalkers as well?

So I was emailed this advert from Shout! today: "Many knights have failed in their quest to find the Holy Grail, but you can skip the riddles and buy your tickets now to experience Monty Python And The Holy Grail’s return to theaters! On May 4 and May 7, celebrate the film's 50th anniversary on the big screen with exclusive, newly filmed introductions from John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, and Michael Palin via Fathom Entertainment. Grossing the highest box office of any British film in the U.S. when released in 1975, this cult classic comedy from the Monty Python team loosely follows the legend of King Arthur (Graham Chapman), along with his squire (Terry Gilliam) and his Knights of the Round Table (John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin), as they embark on a fearless quest in search of the elusive Holy Grail. It's a hysterical, historical tour-de-force from Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones." link to get tickets in the email from Shout! : https://www.fathomentertainment.com/releases/monty-python-and-the-holy-grail-50th-anniversary/?cmp=ST_Fathom_extShout_MontyPython_nat_email&utm_campaign=8957452-MontyPythonandtheHolyGrail50thAnniversary&utm_source=Shout&utm_medium=Email_Shout&utm_content=2025_MontyPython_Shout_Email_Organic I figured some of you might be interested.

well, you can't get back the inf you spent on the salvage to begin with either with that rationale. What are you going to use the salvage on other than crafting unless you are going to chase that very minimal profit from trying to manipulate the rare enhancement market? My point being, if you are crafting for yourself and not for sale, the cost of rare salvage mixed into the price - even if it costs far more than normal market prices - might lead you to a cheaper end cost than purchasing an attuned one on the market. (Which for most people includes "putting through the wash" of the /AH to make a profit from the one you create and then purchase an attuned one at a lower price.)
-
I would like to add, and what is its value once it is used for crafting*? * values may change subject to recipes used, repice purchase price, and end sale value of the enhancement in question

Well, thanks. I was wondering how many @Starhammer has. But just for the record, I have around 196 at this point, but I know I made some more since I last updated my spreadsheet.
-
Come on, give us a count! ... but I guess some people don't keep track ... mmm... I guess I should update my spreadsheet again soon myself ...

I'm getting it too. I takes forever for Everlasting to even load the charter screen. I didn't have noticeable lag issues on Torchbearer on Monday night, but I'm getting it over there tonight.

Paragon City is enclosed in War Walls which apparently are more there to keep the Rikti in than to keep them from getting into Paragon City. The only ways out appears to be to go to the the Rogue Isle (and other countries are going to be very hesitant to allow you to travel to them from the Rogue Isles.), you could try to escape into the Shadow Shard (but I think most civilians wouldn't have access to it), traveling to another dimension (via Portal Corps ... even though there is never a receptionist or a guard at the security desk, I figure most citizens wouldn't want to take the risk of going to some strange alternate dimension) and then there is time travel (I don't call there being NPCs in Ouroboros and I don't think the denizens of THE CITY would want to give up their modern tech to live in Cimerora even if the Midnighters gave them access.) The citizens in Paragon City are essential held hostage inside the War Walls and many of them seem to be accustomed to it. Rikti bombing? Oh, just another day in Paragon City! It never gets boring around here.

I found this kind of funny, but I guess this is like the Winter Event and some players are going to open things and run off when they don't want to fight a spawn they created.

introducing 4-5 rl nerd friends to homecoming and coh
UltraAlt replied to Relvinian's topic in General Discussion
Be patient and let them have fun. I say, however, after an RPG (yeah, that's what we used to call RPGs before there were computerized RPGs) friend had stopped about the 30th purse snatching on the way to a mission in Atlas, I had to say to them "I know that there is a bunch of street crimes going on, but we have bigger problems we have to deal with". And, bless'em, they felt really bad to have to not stop a purse snatching to head directly to the door mission. Let them enjoy the experience. And for the love of THE CITY, don't power-level them or make them door-sit to 50. An empathy defender is always a great one to empower your team and let them do all the heavy lifting. -
Homecoming Server Update (April 28th): City of Heroes' 21st Anniversary
UltraAlt replied to Widower's topic in Announcements
Thank you for bring back a great game that we all deeply and truly love. I gave up subscribing a year before the Sunset. I hated the way the game was going. Microtransactions even for subscribers! What tha...! So I was very glad to see THE CITY back and I think it is even better than it ever was on "live". Thank you so much for that. I don't get to donate often, but when I see the that the donations aren't coming in ... I pitch in to save OUR CITY. -

You can drag them around and shape them. They can be vertical, or horizontal. they can wrap around a corner at the edge of the screen.

I would post in the suggestion & feedback section of the forums.

Any scrapper can get the presence power pool. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Presence#Provoke It isn't an aura, but it basically works like a tanker taunt without the threat magnitude of a tanker taunt.

[OPEN BETA] Patch Notes for April 15th, 2025
UltraAlt replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
As far as higher level range enemies, the ones I kept running into were Devouring Earth and Rikti with a level 10.
