  1. I can't argue with that, but it is selling a base and 500mil profit generated from game-time only. No influence. No drops. No salvage. No recipes. No card packs. I think that is dependant upon who is using the term and the intent. Personally, I think that the exchange of influence between players (mainly done through the Auction House) is the best PVP in the game. It isn't like playing the market doesn't take "time, skill and creativity". It just makes the base builder the profiteer, and you a middleman for nothing. Why would they not sell it themselves? Why would you use your "time, skill and creativity" for the post to make nothing and provide them with the method to earn 500M? Perhaps it would look bad for a Community Rep to be the one starting the selling of bases in game? (I don't know, but assuming a negative if they are not doing it themselves). People can have multiple accounts. It seems like some of the big base builders have several. I do believe that this will the start of a trend. I do believe it falls under what I believe to be Ebil Marketing. If players are willing to pay in-game influence for bases, I say go for it. I hope that there is a huge boom in base sales. I hope that whoever bought the bases sells it for 2 or 3 times as much. Agreed. I know that some base builders take influence to build bases for other people's supergroups. This is the first time I have seen one for sale. I'm assuming this time it may be due to the player (Easter Bunny in this case) moving all of their characters from Indomitable due to the decreased server population. Its has never had a decent server population since I've been on Homecoming. (I only made 4 characters and one supergroup over there. Moved one character off of the server already. See nothing in /LFG most of the time. If there is something, it is only end-game stuff. It used to be the PVP server, but that's changed - don't remember if it is Everlasting or Excelsior at this point, but I don't actively PVP I don't keep up with it.) I do see this starting a trend. Building a base and selling it is taking the influence transfer between players to a whole new level. There is nothing on the Auction House that is going to sell for 500M. If it was on Excelsior or Everlasting it would sell for much more. If that is how players want to make their influence, I would much rather see it done that way than by AFK farming in the AE. AFK Farming in the AE takes no "time, skill or creativity".
  2. It seems that you are assuming that the highest level player on the task force will always have the star. Anyone that is on the taskforce is high enough level for that taskforce. Why should it go to the next highest character on the team? Why not to the next character listed on the team? If it is an issue of the active mission level after a leadership change, the group logging out and back in again should reset the current mission to the current team leader (who at that point would be whomever logged back in first after everyone had logged out or the one that didn't log out when everyone else did). ... but, of course, the AFK player wouldn't be logging out ... but they could be kicked, and that would really be the point of changing the leadership in the first place.
  3. Honestly, I haven't seen anyone lock up a task force by being AFK for a long time, but I have seen it happen ... and, I think most people will agree, that when it happens it is a real killjoy for the others on the task force whether it is intentional or not. The respectful thing to exit missions when you know you are going to be AFK for any prolonged period of time. Remaining in a mission for a quick bio is one thing, but to stay in a mission with the intention to leech is an entirely different thing. Saying I have to go eat and staying in a mission is unacceptable from my point of view. It is obviously intentionally taking advantage of the rest of the team. I fully understand that some players like and condone that type of behavior. This being said, if the afk player isn't the task force leader, the leader does have the option to kick the player.
  4. I have seen the "wall running" and, unfortunately, I have done it myself a time or two. qwerty face is real.
  5. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to cause an issue. Can you explain the difference between "Exploit" and "abusing the intent of a system"? The intent of the AE (as designed by the DEVs) was NEVER farming. The DEVs took steps to curb farming by putting timers on some of the most farmed maps so they couldn't be played repeatedly.
  6. I can't read your image as it is too small. The Servers go down once a week on Tuesdays around 9AM EST. I think that is the standard "servers are shutting down" message that has been used since the game as first released, but, ,as I said, i can't read what it says on the image because it is too small. If you are excited about being back in THE CITY, then make sure to support it when you can: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/59-finances-donations/
  7. lol. There were plenty of tanks before the Sunset that didn't have taunt in the end-years of Freedom (F2P). I play with people that I gamed with long before there was THE CITY, but I average PUG-ing far more time than I get to game with them. PUG-ing isn't a bad thing. I have no idea what server cluster Legacy may be on. It isn't here at Homecoming. The various servers clusters seem to have their own rules. If a tank doesn't have enough taunt to hold the agro (especially, if they are working with the same team all the time) when they are the same level as their teammates.... then maybe they don't think they need enough taunt to keep the agro. If you want to talk from a position of superiority, then that's on you. I PUG-ed before the Sunset. I don't play the end-game. I'm not here to be elite. I started playing the week before Issue 2 released. I've been PUG'ing with the community the whole time, and I'll be PUG'ing the last day that I adventure in THE CITY.
  8. it's easy to pull aggro from a lot of the tanks these days, they don't bother getting taunt.
  9. I did one time, but it keep trying to bite my fingers, and I had to pay more attention to it than the game play.
  10. Sounds good. Not something I will probably use, but I'm sure a lot of other players would find it useful.
  11. No. I like alot of them. Not really. It makes defeating the enemy easier for the entire team. playing a character that doesn't have a debuff, but if they don't have a debuff, they probably have some kind of mez. Too tired to think of one now. Maybe edit later.... All good for me. ------ On another level with this, I often add debuff procs to AoE powers. Annihilation - chance for -resist Achilles' Heel - chance for -resist Pacing of the Turtle - chance for recharge slow Dark Watcher's Despair - chance for recharge slow
  12. Yeah, none of us did. I wasn't expecting to find them. I scrubbed all their bios, changed all the characters to look like Praetorian robots, bought self destruct on all of them (over 150), walked out under the statue of Atlas, blew them up, deleted all my characters, and then cancelled my subscription in protest over the P2W and microtransactions lumped on top of my subscription almost exactly a year before the Sundown. Homecoming isn't a "company". It's a non-profit group that takes donations each month to keep the servers active. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/59-finances-donations/ Welcome home! Glad that you are back. I used to do quite a bit of game play on Virtue ... probably more so than many of the servers but Triumph and Champion but I played on all of them. Wow. You stopped playing early. Supergroup bases started when CoV was released with Issue 6 release in October 27, 2005! The crafting system started in Issue 9 released May 1, 2007! Yes. The Homecoming DEVs have even been releasing their own content. And if you left that early, you must have missed the release of the AE system in issue 14 released April 8, 2009. The AE system allows you (and other players) to create your own missions that any player can play once they published. You can test them until they are ready. Create your own characters and enemy groups! Pick maps from the game for your missions. Set the missions objectives that you want. Make mission objectives unlock other missions objectives to advance your storyline! Set-up multiple missions to form your own mission arcs. Get standard rewards or get special AE related rewards! (The system is abused for farming quite a bit, but there are some really good story-driven arcs created by players.) You have a whole lot to explore. Have fun! The /help channel is still pretty helpful on most of the servers!
  13. But you should be able to hide it .... unless they removed that option.
  14. I don't need to get warmer. Tell us what you mean. Specifically, what powers are you looking for with what SFX? ?! yeah. I'm done.
  15. I've always used a controller to play. Pretty early on playing COH, I started using a Logitech Gamepad 310 which is basically like the wired controller for a PlayStation 2. My controller configurations and tray setups are found here :: The only keybind changes that I have made is to change the "cancel power" from "z" to "~" as in never cancel a power using "z", and I've historically used "z" for push-to-talk in TeamSpeak and Discord.
  16. Current UI layout Usually, I have my heal macro in tray 2 slot 7. However, if my character has some primary or secondary power that is a heal, I'll put it in tray 2 slot 7 and move the 2nd heal macro down to tray 3 slot 7. Sometimes this gets me into trouble because of my standardization methods (thinking I trigger slot 7 in my active tray multiple times to fire of the heal macro versus a power that needs time to recharge). If this happens too much when I'm playing, I swap the heal power with the heal macro or move move the heal power over to the autofire position - so it goes off whenever it recharges).
  17. Plenty of threads recently dissing on Storm Blast. An easy search could have found them. I find it to be pretty OP in the game content (versus end-game) with advance tactics. I know that isn't just me. I know there are plenty of people that are posting distaste or plain hatred of it.
  18. Will that be a power customization for the Sonic or Symphony sets?!
  19. My "macro tool kit" for new characters: /macro try1 "goto_tray 1" /macro try2 "goto_tray 2" /macro Heal "inspexec_name respite$$inspexec_name dramatic_improvement$$inspexec_name resurgence" /macro Auction AH /macro flw "follow" /macro fx0 "noparticles 1" /macro fx1 "noparticles 0" /macro Grat "team Gratz!$$e clap" /macro Thks "team Thanks!$$e bow" /macro x "petcomall dismiss" /macro Key "enterbasefrompasscode x" ^^^ where x = a base's passcode - most of the time one that I created on the current server^^ this is used to get into a base before I go back and add the new character to an existing sg with /altinvite. If you need access to a base on a server and don't have one - no problem check here :: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Excelsior_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Everlasting_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Torchbearer_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Reunion_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Indomitable_Base_List I put most of my main powers into tray 1 along with a button to heal and try2 to flip to tray 2 as active. My tray 2 is for secondary powers along with a button to heal and try1 to flip to tray 1 as active. So my main tray stack look like: 2 3 1 (active tray - so this one toggles between tray 1 and 2 with the tray change macros) 3 is in the middle and holds powers that have to be targeted on the ground or want easy access to, but don't want in tray 1 or 2. Toggle powers go into another tray that is only for toggle powers. FX0-macro turns off a large amount of SFX but not all of them. [So "all white" characters and some SFX may still be an issue to some with eye issues] FX1-marco turns SFX back on, but you have to zone for it to fully reset some SFX to "on"/"show" mode. ---- if I immediately make other costumes, I'll set-up costume changes as well. ---- /macro name "cc #" /macro name "cce # ccemote" /macro IB "cce # ccemote$$goto_tray 9" /macro Super "cce # ccemote$$goto_tray 1" name = name of your macro cce # = slot # first slot is 0, second is 2, etc ccemote = one of these below (eg. ccspin) ccbackflip cchowl ccevillaugh ccspin ccnuke cclightning ccprestochango ccdrinkformula ccsmokebomb ccninjaleap CCDimensionShift ccfurburst ccsalute ccvanguardsigil cccast ccsuperserum ccenergymorph ccrapidboil ccfeatherburst ccfurspin ccoilstrike ccpressurerelease cciceblock ccstoneblock ccfireworks ccpureenergy ccnuke ccmurderofcrows ccconfettithrow ccgiftburst ccinnerwill cclightmagic ccrainbow The Super and IB macros are for when I make an innocent bystander costume, and I don't want the character to have access to super-powers in their non-powered form. The powers that I don't consider to be superpowers are loaded into tray 9 along with the Super macro to change into Super form (which also flips to tray 1 where my main superpowers are located). I put the IB macro button and a second Super macro button into another tray that I would also have any additional costume change emotes located in. ----- So what does your "macro tool kit" for new characters look like?
  20. I can't quote across pages, but you said "Dark melee, dark armor, dark affinity, and dark miasma, are a lot of sets to redo into a light or holy sets I know." What do you mean by "redo into a light or holy sets"? My assumption was that you want the same power SFX with different visuals. Easiest way to do that is with color customization. I have characters that use the dark blast as a "light or holy set", and I do it through power customization by color customization. I will agree that "soul conception" has dark/demonic implications. What would you call a light/holy based power that sucks hit points out of an enemy and give them to you? For character conception reasons, a player could simply not pick that power for their light/holy character. There are plenty other powers to choose from.
