I like the Nemesis event for the spectacle of it all. The same goes for the Rikti Invasion event. But @Greycat pointed out the Steel Canyon fires and it got me to thinking about them and the Troll Rave. I like those events very much, in large part because they grant practically zero experience unless you are actually in the level range. They grant badges but that's about it so there isn't a mass of players LFG or LFL for it, usually maybe only 1 or two at the most if that. Yet I find them fulfilling, especially the fires. Oh my Chief Williams gave me an improved firefighting pack. Sweet. Oh I like experience and enjoy most of the zone events but there is something about saving a kind of slummy building from burning to the ground. Stupid Hellions.

If you search the internet (not the dark web) there are several reputable services that could probably provide a variety of different types of doms for your needs. Wait. Wrong forum. Curses.

The smell of fetid water all stagnant and stinky. I've been to Venice, its no picnic in the summer.

I have the Global with a lot of stuff stripped out but all zone events added. A lot of the items are duplicated in other tabs. LFG stays here even though it gets cluttery and sometimes spammy. I have Help for Help. I have Combat for Combat. If I have real pets (or a lot of pseudo-pet activity) that I want to review I sometimes parse out pet chat items into a separate tab. I have General for General channel. I like gabbing it up sometimes there but when clowns start on stupid things like panda conversations I have to have it not visible because I would shoot my computer I have a Talk channel for the Coalition and SG chats

Officially Unofficial Weekly Discussion #10: Alt-itis
High_Beam replied to SeraphimKensai's topic in General Discussion
I made a conscious effort when I discovered Homecoming to be responsible with my alt-itis compared to live. and so far I am pretty okay. I flush alts who cease being something I will dust off; I strip them and flush them. My rule is 30 on the server I favor. If I get a hair to create a new one (which I do often) then I move one to Everlasting or flush. Everlasting is for those I do not really do anything with but might revisit or when Excelsior goes Tango Uniform for more than a minute. This has allowed me to focus on enjoying the ones I have more than I used to so it is working for me. -
Steel Canyon baby, a nice little condo overlooking Platinum Lake and plenty of Outcasts to take my frustrations out on.

I want the name my main I had on live from beta to shutter, the name that is my global, not OG or with no spaces or underscores or weird characters, I just want High Beam back. And since I have the global name you know its some beam rifle guy who may or may not have made it to 50 and hasn't been played again not an awesome energy blaster. So even if the name change goes in effect it is still lost to me. Le sigh.

I was running solo and got bounced but saw that there were almost 400 players still on when I pulled up server stats (helpful btw). and I was able to log right back in.

How are the new mercenaries? Also, recommended secondaries?
High_Beam replied to Aisynia's topic in Mastermind
I have a Merc/Traps MM who I created to replicate my old one from live like as soon as I discovered HC. I played her up and remembered the pain. Stopped at around 30. Then the change and wowzers, so much difference. Respec and took Serum and altered slotting, double wowzers. Plus Proc-ville. Drove her hard to 50 and had fun with it which is not how the memories were from Live. -
I chose the second option of sure as long as it didn't impact the majority of Homecoming. I have a private server running at home that me and my nephew (when he visits) play on occasionally, its the OuroDev version (i25 I think its called) so if I really want to go as old school as possible I can. The appeal of it wears off pretty quick though, especially certain QoL aspects in HC that aren't there as well as certain powers. But, if they could make one a patient zero server that exists in a static warp bubble and has zero to very very little impact on the rest of HC then sure, there is a market for just about everything.

Most people's costumes are wretched so the correlation to bad or bland costume contest winners is logical. I have won a few and I know they weren't the best. Some in fact would probably fall under the category of bland. But I stopped participating in and then even going to view costume contests because of the ire they began to draw from me due to the good not winning. To me they have become like watching Antiques Roadshow and seeing something that should have great value being appraised low while something pathetic is valued high. "This beautiful, unblemished oak desk built by one the most desirable furniture craftsmen in the history of the United States was the desk Abraham Lincoln sat at when he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation and even has a draft in the drawer authenticated the Most reliable authenticators in the world. I'd value it at $1,000 due to the market being on the rise." "This beat up baseball was signed by a tier three baseball player who signed every piece of memorabilia ever shoved in front of him. $10,000, maybe more if you find the right buyer becuase . . . Baseball?" (or swap that out with Civil War stuff but only if its Confederate for some horrible reason) It's freaking maddening

If you were to add a zone to the Rogue Islands...
High_Beam replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
Let me dig around Book 2 of my fan fiction epic. I developed the major and minor islands. One is volcanic (active not Baat'Zul Active) with pumicites of largeness on it. Another is actually a zombie island (all of the dead wash up there due to currents). Plus the Sea Devils and the two pirate factions and a crashed Rikti ship and a Circle of Thorn's Black Pyramid of Evil and Arachnos mutagen testing facility and an old 5th Column base locked in time since World War II and an invisible island plus a whole "disturbance surrounding the region causing craziness. Oh and the disintegration pillars. I was really bored during peak COVID 🙂 -

I got it from here but when I get home from work I will pull out my map for the box buy to verify. I remember it being there for like ever because I wrote some crappy fan fiction back in the day referencing having to go to Skyway International. City of Heroes Homecoming Wiki Page -

Good Missions for a Magician to Focus On?
High_Beam replied to Safehouse's topic in General Discussion
I have some half-assed frameworks written somewhere that wont be much of a help, but for me I decided that my level 50's would Flashback the missions that fit their origin. Magic is perhaps the richest due to the presence of the CoT throughout. I used the principal that Hellions and Skulls are dark worshippers, Midnight CLub missions are magic even if Rikti or Freakshow are involved (Dirge of Chaos anyone), clearly Circle missions or circle dominant missions are magic. Hollows I treat as magic to a degree (Talshek the Msytic (spelling)). Carnies are magic. Yes Warriors have magical artifacts and Tsoo as well as having magic (Sorcerers) but I kind of am on the fence there treating them as Natural but that would be dealers choice. Add the villain side with Snakes and Wailers, Legacy Chain, Coralax, Mu . . . Ghost pirates in Oakes there is a lot of magic you can bounce around content wise. Tech (with strong overlap in Science and a little Natural) - Clockwork, Arachnos, Crey, Nemesis, Freakshow, Malta, Column-Council Science and or Mutation (with some natural overlap) - DE, Vahzilok, Outcasts?, Trolls, RIkti, Coralax The list is messy like I said but Magic is actually pretty deep compared to the others. -
Hi Squaeakerbox. I don't know if you are just a new poster or new player to CoH or just a returning CoH Player from days of live to Homecoming but to put it in the most helpful way, Homecoming is actually super easier to make influence/infamy than it was on live. There are guides in the guides section that describe it in detail how you can easily make money in game through regular gameplay as well as through detailed techniques like marketeering and the like. Farming is what it is but it isn't how everyone makes their wealth; I don't farm. I am able to kit all of my alts easily, shifting cash around at the tens of millions level with ease (and I am a broke player compared to the billionaires). As @MoonSheepsaid above, 500K for a single orange salvage is the norm not the exception. Run TF's use merits to buy the ones that sell big (LotG, Panacea, Numina). If you get a non-expensive one of those, use the enhancement converters that drop quite often and are relatively cheap to buy in bulk to roll conversions till you get the expensive one. And that is just the start. I played on live from beta to closure and it was much harder to earn cash there and farming was way harder to accomplish. The fact is, there are no good old days with regards to making influence from live to Homecoming. Market Guide

Brought to you by the Broad Generalization Foundation I have 32 characters currently on Excelsior and 11 more on Everlasting that I moved from Excelsior (plus numerous deleted) and everyone of them have done Posi 1 on a PUG and only twice in those 40 plus toons did the PUG not know what to do. Now did we get overwhelmed, sure that also happened a few times at the steps of City Hall but with regards to "what jet pack" or "what you mean target through" people, sorry not my experience. I feel that the non-intelligent ones are the exception not the norm.

My singer Blue Aria and her pet Rock-A-Pella are fun. I like the fact that it fires powers parallels to what I am shooting and once we are in the groove it really adds up. Considering the amount of cones in the Symphonic (or Symphony) Control set, the fact that tis throwing ST shots is noting but help. I've been able to work mobs above my paygrade as well as solo rather fast compared to other trollers I've run (Ill, Grav, Mind). With procs slotted its even better. Now keep in mind this is a Controller not a Dominator. Furthermore the fact that this pet is not like the others in any way makes it more fun and in my opinion should NOT have their mechanic changed. Reverberant is literally supposed to mean an echo, a bouncing of sound so it copying my shots is spot on. Is it perfect? No. Its slow as sap and gets caught a lot on overhangs (bottom of the entry tunnel overhand in Snaptooth's cave is the latest issue) as well as doors and probably chewing gum but it flies so when my Aria soars so does Rock-A-Pella and does tend to station keep with me so its not chasing around enemies.

My earlier post about them stands but that was from a solo standpoint. When we Nukems are too drunk, especially if Beer (not the drink but the player) is with us, we will do Carnies over and over and the MIs are brutal but we also tend to run a little Control/Dom heavy so the moment the MIs are out of phase they are locked and never go back into phase until dead. Now their spawned buddies, well there is a badge for that so bonus. Solo as a Blaster (my dominant AT) I get murdelized.

I honestly think there are occasional "wiggy" things happening with enemy levels in Task Forces (and Tips). I have been on several Task Forces where for some weird reason, the enemies were conning significantly higher than the team no less the stated setting; like 4 levels up. Happened once on a Citadel, once on a Synapse and if I remember right once on a Manticore. The person running two of those task forces mentioned was a significantly experienced runner, with macros built to inform the team throughout and of course clear advertising at level and difficulty while recruiting and reiterated before start; she knows her stuff and she was like "WTF" and had us all pull out (quiet you) to reset and it did. But one that has twice effed me was this Malta Tip mission on the Vigilante mode where I am set at 0/+1, and I am getting spawns 3 levels over my solo self. Someone literally read my mind and discovered my nightmare and executed it in code.
