One thing I don’t see listed here... I love watching the character animations! I realized after CoH shut down that I didn’t watch the character animations in LOTRO, or WoW, or EQ, or CO, or SW:L. But I love watching my guy do silly, over-the-top Dual Blades sword fu. And I love watching the cape physics while doing my Staff Fighting break dance moves. And Dual Pistols’ John Wu gun fu. And that glacial 3sec slo-mo hover in mid air while you pound the snot out of some baddie. And the fact that Brawl on my Dual Blades stalker is actually a kick. And don’t get me started on street justice!

Yeah, I hear you. I think the thing is these are hard to test. And against things that aren’t elite bosses, archvillains, or giant monsters the damage will kill them quickly and the debuffs are largely irrelevant. So the only things people test are the procs that would be useful against AVs. Who cares if your 3mag, 10sec hold proc stacks when you need 50mag to actually hold him?
-
No, what I am saying is, whether they apply at all is based on whether they’re implemented as a set bonus or as a proc. If you slot Karma 4pt Knockback Protection in 8 different powers, you’ll only get 20pts of protection (rather than 32) because those are implemented as set bonuses, so at most only 5 count. Contrariwise, if you slot Kinetic Combat Chance for Knockdown in 8 different powers, all 8 of them now have a chance for knockdown. As far as whether proc effects that have a duration stack with each other, that depends on how the individual proc effect is coded. Some, like Achilles -res is coded to not stack with itself. My guess is that all crowd control proc effects (hold, immob, etc) will stack just fine. I honestly don’t know where you’d go to look up all the specifics, other experimenting yourself.

Rule of 5 only applies to set bonuses. However, be aware that some io set pieces grant “set abilities” all by themselves. Generally, if the thing applies at all times, regardless of whether you have access to the power, it’s a set bonus. So stuff like lotg +7.5% recharge, botz knockback protection, and aegis(?) psionic resistance are all done as set bonuses. Things that trigger off using the power it’s slotted in aren’t generally done as set bonuses, so Rule of 5 doesn’t apply. This includes chance for knockdown, chance for -res, and chance for smashing damage. For exact details, paragonwiki has the exhaustive list of what counts as what.

Sister SOlaris' arc..hoqw to reset her last mission
ZekeStenzland replied to Razor Cure's topic in General Discussion
Typically, the way you reset a mission is to make some other mission the current mission. The game will ask you if you want to abandon the first one. You say yes. Is this not working for you? Note that you can’t always do this easily. If you’re doing a task force (Including oro missions) you’ll need to abandon the whole thing and start over. oh yeah. I think if you log for a while (maybe 24 hours?) the mission will reset on its own as well. -
My space-marine-from-the-future beam/traps corrupter has Force Field Generator “Safety First” Acid Mortar “SUX-2BU” Seekers “Stupid” and “I’m With Stupid” Not sure what I’d name the poison trap or triage beacon if it were possible.

Sorry, got distracted by my fleet of alts — er, by a Nemesis plot. Darkir, by softcapping, I’m guessing you mean the 45% cap, rather than the higher incarnate soft cap of 50 something? Anyway, I’ll take a look when I’m not at work Also, thanks for the slotting advice on the fear and pet. I’ll see if I can work that in.

Hardcore mode - die once is gameover
ZekeStenzland replied to Obus Form's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Live had the Iron Eagles, which played hardcore. WoW has its iron man challenge. It’s available right now, all you have to do is Just Do It. No doubt, if it turned out that there lots of players playing this way, the devs might be able to justify putting some effort into helping support this play style. But until then, your destiny is in your own hands. -
Cannot attune six enhancements in a row (same power)
ZekeStenzland replied to Logansan's topic in Bug Reports
I had it crash last night Catalyzing the 6th enhance as well. When I catalyze the second set, I exited to the management screen after each catalyze, and was able to upgrade all 6 and didn’t crash for the rest of the night. Couldn’t say if the salvage or merit vendor window was open when I crashed on the first set. -
FWIW, males and females both get that asymmetric sash (the peacebringer context wears it, I call it the Phoenix sash). Huges do not. That’s another costume disparity.

So, um, yeah, how do you start on Goldside?
ZekeStenzland replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
I seem to recall at least one mission where you need to fight two elite bosses at once, at level 10 or so. There’s a lot more psi damage thanks to seers and syndicate, which few folks mitigate well. Especially in the 1-20 range. Ghouls do a pbaoe heal when they die, making things a lot harder for melee and those with aoe. And you fight those everywhere. A lot more spawns of 4 than you typically see red or blue side. And it feels like they are +1 level more often as well. And I find that I do much better on squishy ATs than others, just because the Armor sets at those levels don’t compensate for the lower damage output. Although to be fair, I’ve never tried gold with, say, an MM. And Resistance, as a group, seems to have a ton of knockdown as well as a few bosses who are fairly immune to all CC. Maybe it’s just that red and blue have the same amount of problematic foes, but they’re spread out across more groups, whereas goldside you’re running into the same ones repeatedly. I’m sure folks would have a very skewed view of blue if all they ever fought was Circle of Thorns. -
So, um, yeah, how do you start on Goldside?
ZekeStenzland replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
You missed it already. On the very first screen of char creation, where you pick your origin, there’s two large oval buttons. I think the top one is City of Heroes, the bottom one is Going Rogue. It isn’t obvious that they’re even buttons. But selecting the bottom one will have you go Goldside. There’s an optional tutorial for that, if you want. I recommend it. And, fair warning. Goldside can be surprisingly difficult compared to Red and Blue. Lots more AVs, ambushes that aggro through stealth, more enemies per spawn, and higher levels. But the story is definitely worth it, IMO. -
I logged out hovering over the pond (or in the pond, can’t remember) in the First Ward cemetery, had the Mortician day job buff icon, but did not get credit towards the badge. Haven’t had issues in other places though.
-
Quick question. What’s your alignment? The side-exclusive day job badges don’t complete if you’re not the correct side. As I recall, Dimensional Explorer only gets awarded when you’re Hero or Vigilante. You may need to switch sides to be awarded the badge.

Seems to me there’s also a self-phase power as well. Would be a pretty useful ability when things go pancake. But the cast time is so long, that by the time you realize you need to use it, it’s too late to activate it. cant remember the name.
-
True. But on my Beast/Nature mm, my pets are all melee, so melee is where I want to be. The lack of range doesn’t cost me much. The rare case where I want range to pull, I can use Blackwand or Nemesis Staff. Not saying other MM sets have this issue, but it worked out that way for me. And to be fair, I didn’t take the other fighting attacks because I like the animations for the hawk attack.
-
Almost every AT has better attacks than those in the Fighting pool. There are exceptions. MM attacks are generally equal to or worse than Fighting attacks. So if you were planning on taking Tough/Weave anyway, skip your lame MM attacks to take and slot better Fighting attacks. The other case I can think of would be Controllers having primaries and secondaries that are light on actual damage, or have their big damage abilities on long recharges. Electric/Empathy, perhaps? (It’s been a while...)

I had a similar issue with my PB on the Adm Sutter TF. Died, respawned at the hospital on the ship/destroyer, where I was camped by a Quantum. I was dying so fast, it took me two deaths just to figure out what was killing me. Think I ate six deaths in the hospital before I made it out. Bleah.

Also, for lowbies terrified of traveling through PI, the Tunnel will take you direct to Firebase Zulu, for dimensional explorer. From there you can safely get to portal Corp in PI for Intern, and the Arena is reasonably short trot for Duelist.

Mid's Reborn: Hero Designer

Not sure if this is the right venue, but I found a bug in 2.6.0.5 where global recharge bonus is off by +100% in the totals window. When it calculates the recharge time of powers, it uses the off-by-100 value, giving incorrect times. In my case, while I only have +133% recharge, it shows +233%, and calculates the recharge for Call Reinforcements to be just under 4mins (and perma), when in game it’s actually just under 5mins (with about 80% uptime). -
RESOLVED Call reinforcements ignores global recharge?
ZekeStenzland replied to ZekeStenzland's topic in Bug Reports
Problem solved. Mids appears to have a bug where they add an extra +100% global recharge when calculating power recharges. Also, I only have regular ATOs, not the superior versions. But that only accounts for 1.25%, so not a big factor. Now i I just have to scrounge up another +40% global recharge somewhere. Back to the purple factory, I guess. 😞 -
RESOLVED Call reinforcements ignores global recharge?
ZekeStenzland replied to ZekeStenzland's topic in Bug Reports
When I get home I’ll time it to see if that’s the issue. It also makes me wonder if my mids build is different from what I have slotted (Superior vs regular ATOs).
